Established in 1936, Mark Gonsenhauser's Rug and Carpet Superstore is Hampton Roads oldest and largest Oriental and Decorative Rug & Carpet showroom. We have 20,000 square feet of Hand made & Machine made rugs from around the world. We also have the largest full service “in house” cleaning, repair and certified rug appraisal facility in the area. We offer expert professional rug cleaning services for all types of rugs including both new and antique rugs as well as rugs made from silk, wool and man-made materials. We are an Approved Service Provider by the Carpet and Rug Institute (CRI). We use the very latest up to date Oriental rug cleaning products and equipment that are approved by CRI. Our specialized cleaning process has several comprehensive stages so you can be assured that our process is done thoroughly and with the utmost care for your rug. Our Cleaning Plant is equipped for specialized hand cleaning that most other facilities are not. Cleaning is done right here in our facility and all work is performed expertly, with individual attention given to each rug to insure the best possible result. To have your rug cleaned you may either bring it into our showroom or we can arrange to have it picked up for an additional charge. Your rug will be inspected for any obvious or hidden stains and any areas of wear. After we have evaluated your rug, we will gladly give you suggestions for repairs if needed. We also offer expert Oriental rug appraisals. Mark Gonsenhauser is the only Certified Rug Appraiser in Hampton Roads Virginia. Mark is a member of and is certified by the Oriental Rug Retailers of America (ORRA).

"Thank you so much for your kind words, [Member Name Removed]!"
"Hello [Member Name Removed] D. As we have mentioned in our response to you via your Yelp review, we thank you for your valuable comments and noting that you were satisfied with the cleaning of two of the three rugs. We do always work hard to exceed our customer's expectations and we apologize that we didn't fully meet yours. Your comments on how your concerns were handled by our staff are noted. Your experience was a rare occurrence and we would welcome to serve you in the future. Because one of your rugs was of special construction with known color bleed risks, we do want other consumers to understand that as the cleaners of a rug such as this, we are obligated to identify potential risks in the cleaning process. When you add a biological substance, such as urine, to the process, it can complicate matters even more. We are the only certified rug cleaner in our area and take great pride in how we clean and repair rugs and the thousands of rugs that have been restored by our team. We appreciate you taking the time and your feedback. Have a great day!"

"Thank you so much for your positive feedback!"
"December 18, 2013 Mr. Gonsenhauser contacted [member name removed] to address his reasons for rating us poorly for price and punctuality. We checked our records and [member name removed] received a 25% discount and not a 20% discount. We performed cleaning and repair of the customer's rugs within our normal 2 weeks turnaround time. We then called to schedule the delivery and the authorized individual who signed the initial work order instructed us to re-deliver the rugs a week later than we originally intended, which we did according to his instructions. We thank [member name removed] for the outstanding review for our quality of work, responsiveness and professionalism and we are happy to say that we've cleared any misunderstanding in regards to price and punctuality."
