the tech was on time, very professional and went right to work; he said my furnace had a bad control board and wanted $846 for a new one. ( with a discount of $100 for any service perfomed from the angies list booking, as well as a %15 off for being a new client to come to $635.00) . I told the tech this appliance was still under warranty, he said that they didn't warranty anything they did not install. I decided to wait as the week's weather was to be warm than usual and had the guy who did the original install come by and check it out . ( I called my installer first but his schedule did not allow a quick response, so I went with an angies list deal of the day .) He confirmed the furnace was still under warranty and he did some quick checks and determined the issue was NOT the control board but was a grounding issue. Replacing a few screws that were too long and arching seems to fix the problem as its been working like a champ ever since. Cost to repair === $75.00 service call.

Fantastic service! Starting with the office staff for scheduling the appointment for service, to the very knowledgable technician. The technician, Phil, was very polite and informative. He diagnosed the problem shortly after inspecting the unit, let me know what the problem was and listed the options available to remedy the problem. He was very patient with me and my battery of questions. He performed a neat and thorough job, well done! I used one of the coupons I found here on Angie's list which greatly reduced the cost.
Description of Work: Diagnosed and replaced a transformer not working on the air handler of my heat pump system. Also, tuned up an additional heat pump system, which was operating properly.

I had no issues. The work got done in a timely manner. The repairman Sip, was very friendly and professional. He got right to work and did a very good job. I liked if there was a missing part that was needed to finish the job, other available technicians help each other out and bring each other parts so there is no or very little delay. I've never seen that done before. Usually, if there was a missing part, other businesses will have their guys leave and come back or come back the next day, which I find inconvenient. This is the second time I've had service from Guy Smith and they have not disappointed me yet. I highly recommend them to anyone in my area.

The service was fine. I called them because the a/c went out. They came and charged it but they over charged it. What happened was it was leaking. Now I am on a maintenance plan. They had to replace the unit. Something leaked on my carpet. I wasn't here. I am in the Navy. My guest didn't see them do it so I assumed it. So the last time they came to service it I told them I smelled gas. I keep smelling something under my sink. He said that's not gas, I don't know what that is. It was gas. It was gas coming from the machine that he just inspected. So hindsight I ended up spending $1800 dollars for two gas leaks. The gas person I called told me that I needed to tell my HVAC company. He didn't take out anything to test it or anything. I smelled gas so I called the gas company and they came out and found there was a leak in my meter and a leak at the a/c unit and the thing about it is the type of piping that they use was not right it was like to install the units.

There was a hairline crack in the evaporation line just where it joined the collection trough. My heat pump is constructed in such a way that the coils had to be removed in order to replace the evaporation trough and pipe. This required pumping it down outside so the coils could be removed. This job was labor intensive. The technician was exacting in his work. He patiently explained what he was doing at each step. He was courteous and pleasant to be with. He left the area cleaned up. Prior to this visit I had them in because the heat pump had iced up because the motor had stopped running. They found that the circuit board was damaged and had to be replaced. They got the part and installed it the next day. The technician who did this was also courteous and patiently explained what he was doing. The staff who answer the phones and call to report when a technician is on the way are cheerful and quick to solve any problems, are flexible when there are unforeseen changes. This company does good work, and I will continue to use them for future check-ups.

Tech showed up, couldn't locate model number (other company knew exactly where to look), said they don't make those exchanges any more (other company had a new one in 3 days), and tried to sell me a $6,000 brand new unit. (Other company fixed my unit that day).

We had a tech named Phil come in and figure out what was wrong with one of our AC units. He quickly figured out that it was because of a lack of charge and also let me know that it might be a leak in the system. He first put the charge in to get it going and gave me some recommendations of first calling the AC MFG company to get a warranty team out here to fix the rest of it. The freon addition would hold us over for now of course and in the end that is the route we will go but the honesty and professionalism and knowledge of Phil was great.

Description of Work: The provider changed out my old compressor on my air-conditioning unit. He also went up into the attic and found that we had a leak from our unit. We found a clog from Exterior and drain unclogged it, and save ourselves a world of hurt from future water damage .

This advertisement is extremely deceiving! I paid for services that were advertised as a "Tune-Up" on my A/C unit, well this was not a tune up, this was a technician that came out to my house only to sell me more services. When the company said "Tune-Up" the novice or non expert on A/C units think of a cleaning coils, flush/treat condensation drain with anti-algae, tighten electrical connections, clean condenser and remove debris etc...This is not what happen, by the time that he was done the final price was over $400 for what I thought should have been included in the "Tune-Up!" This has made me very cautious about purchasing from your website. Please know that overall Angie's list is a great resource for finding services, but this company "Guy Smith Heating and Cooling" need to be taken off the list. Their advertisements are out to bait the customer into purchasing services that should be included in the "Tune-Up!" I must say that after about 20 mins of debating with the technician (out of the kindness of his heart) did clean the coils. I just ask that the advertisement give detailed direction on what services are provided, so instead of "Tune-Up" it should have read "Consultation" for $39.99." Thank you in advance Uries

Everything was seamless and went great. Anthony is a knowledgeable technician, and will always be the first person we'll request, although every tech we've seen from Guy Smith was great. I'll definitely use them again.
Description of Work: My HVAC system wasn't blowing properly. We couldn't feel any air coming through the ducts. After purchasing their coupon, Guy Smith sent Anthony out for a quick diagnostic. Anthony has been to our house before, and was familiar with our unit, so we requested him again. Unfortunately, the system was encased in a block of ice, and we had to wait a day or two for it to thaw. Anthony came back, bright and early two days later, and was able to service the unit.
