We arrived at 11:59am. The technician was at your home for 2.08 hours and performed a very thorough maintenance check and also performed a Home Energy Checkup for you at the same time. I allow my techs 1 hour of time for the maintenance checks and up to 1 hour to perform the home energy checkups. UPDATE NUMBER TWO: All of my concerns were resolved. Thank you Guy Smith!! UPDATE: Guy Smith is not standing by its one year warranty on labor on my new system. I discovered a gas leak coming from the NEW line installed by Guy Smith. Virginia Natural Gas "red-tagged" the meter by locking it until the leak could be repaired. I called Guy Smith and the technician, Anthony, timely arrived and told me that the work would be covered under the warranty, and he gave me paperwork stating same. On Monday, Anthony told me that he provided the repair (without a permit). The city inspector will not come out to review the repair, because the repair was done without a permit, so VIrginia Natural Gas will not unlock my meter. Guy Smith refuses to perform the necessary work and applicable permitting to assist me under the ONE YEAR WARRANTY on LABOR and Equipment Parts. I am within the warranty period, but I cannot turn on my gas due to the leak in the line installed in February by Guy Smith. Tomorrow I will have to pay a gas contractor (other than Guy Smith) to make the repairs so my family can use the gas stovetop. This will cost me approximately $700 in addition to the $10,900 that I paid Guy Smith in February for the new gas line and system. I am grading Guy Smith a "D" for professionalism. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ I priced with two companies and Guy Smith provided the best solution for the most reasonable price. My sales representative was thorough and I remained in contact with him throughout the process. The install lasted longer than expected due to some unforeseen issues, but I was not charged extra for the time. Fortunately we were not living in the house at the time of installation. I am happy that the team took the extra time to ensure that the installation was performed properly. My electrician had to install a couple of new breakers and boxes for the installation. This work was not included in the quote, and I was aware of that at the time that I signed the contract. The team at Guy Smith are very professional, and they want to ensure complete satisfaction. I was in contact with the members of the installation team, the manager and Ken Smith. The system was installed as promised, and we are enjoying our HVAC units. A follow-up service call was required, because a vent was not re-attached. It was an original vent that was made of old material. We paid $35 for a service call. Mr. Ken Smith ensured that the technician re-attached the vent, and we are happy with the result. I feel safe knowing that I had true professionals with years of experience install my family's heating and air conditioning system.
Description of Work: Removed old system and installed a 3 ton heat pump with electric auxiliary for the down zone and a 3 ton dual fuel system for the up zone.

Jon Shaffer,the service man, arrived on time; he explained every thing he was doing and answered any question we asked. He fixed the heater and left. In a couple of months we are going to have our central air replaced and we already know we will call our friends at Guy Smith.
Description of Work: About 1 week before Thanksgiving our heater went on the blink. Checked on Angie's list and found a heating & cooling company that simply sounded like the one we wanted. We called for an emergency and was seen that very night. We were not even charged for an emergency call. Jon Shaffer (our service man) told us that the heat ex-changer had a crack and needed to be replaced but the part had to be ordered. We were given an estimate of about $1800.00. The part came in and we were called to set up time for a service call and it was during this phone call we found out about the recall It ended costing 50% less than first quoted. The Heater was fixed on Dec 23. What a great Christmas present. And what great new friends we found.

I bought a recently and wanted to get the A/C unit checked out. So I bought a promotional coupon that read "$20 for Heating or AC Service Call, Diagnosis Check with Credit Deal!" thinking I will get a good idea of the health of the system. The scheduling went well but on the day of the appointment, I was travelling on business and so my wife was dealing with the technician. I do understand these promotions are a way to "get in the door" and then upsell services but getting ripped off is another thing. Anyhow, the technician convinced my wife that we needed a fuse replaced on the unit and need a "NEW" thermostat. He installed the new thermostat and charged us almost $400 for the overall service call and gave us a quote for 2 new units. I dont understand why he would give me a quote for 2 new units without even telling us what is wrong with the unit. I did not say anything. When I returned from my trip, I saw the thermostat and almost threw up. The thermostat was the cheapest one you could ever find. Heck, I would not even taken it for FREE. Anyhow, after feeling ripped off, I called the company to try and understand what exactly the charges were for but my calls were never returned. What is amazing is that after all of this, we still did not know the health of the system because the technician did everything else but check the system out and his focus was more on upselling everything. Anyhow, we went with another company and for $1200, I have new capacitors, a-coil, both topped off with freon, new control board, heating element and fully serviced units and they are humming!! If we had had to go with this company we would have ended up spending $16,000 for 2 installed units when we did not need any of it. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Update: Ken, Unfortunately, this was my experience. We had bids from other people but he wasn't the cheapest by any stretch but he was the one willing to jump right in and get it done fast because I was hit by a lightning and it took out the unit. It was important to get it done quickly but he had good price, good timing, and on top of everything else, he brought a couple of window air conditioning to use it while we're on the process. He did pretty well and enjoy the service up to now.
Description of Work: I used Guy Smith Heating & Cooling for new heating system installation, replaced all the ducts and the heat pump inside and out, and also had a contract for the Spring and Fall for the heating system.

I replaced our foyer light and noticed there was forced air blowing from around the light connection box. Using an inspection camera with a 3 foot scope he inspected the duct work between floors. Although he couldn't see where the possible problem was, he did verify where it wasn't. It is going to take additional actions to get to the suspected problem area, which will include removing part of the ceiling. When I'm ready to do that, I would call Guy Smith again.

The service technician came promptly. Our heater was not working during a cold snap we were having and we were freezing in our house even with the heater cranked way up. He figured out the problem, but the part he needed wasn't available right away, and also I needed to check with the former owner of the house to see if there was any warranty on the heater, since we had only owned the home for 7 months and the heater was put in brand new just the year before. So, I never did have them do the prescribed service. I was very happy with the service rendered however, and since the problem still needs to be fixed and it turns out that we do have to pay for the repair ourselves, I will be calling this provider to remedy the situation.

Replaced the 1988 Rheem compressor and coil with an American standard high efficient unit. Worked in the attic crawl space and back yard. Showed up a little later than I expected and stayed later than I expected. I wanted greater detail about the unit I was buying, actually went to the storefront to talk to them. They tried to explain what their buying methodology was, but could not gaurantee what unit I would be buying. Everything works, my electricity bill went down. Installation was clean if not speedy. When a friend in the hvac industry saw the work, and the unit, and what I paid, he said it was a good deal. This is the third time I have used Guy Smith and even though they are a little rough around the edges if they get the job done at a decent price...as long as you check what you should be paying.

Technician arrived a little after 10 AM for requested scheduled troubleshooting call. Not an emergency. Still had electric heat. He determined that the outside condenser fan was bad and replaced it with an exact replacement fan. He did not check system pressures as he did not need to do so. Replacement was straight forward with no difficulties. Technician completed replacement and left a little after 11:30 AM. Taken back by the $750 charge for fan replacement. Technician said the unit was old and suggested a $3800 system replacement. Finances are tight so got the fan. I had previously checked the fan cost at local parts supplier (Cashwell). Was told that my cost for an exact replacement fan would be $178 ($135 for a universal fan). Assume that the contractor cost would be less. The bottom line is that I paid $750 for the installation of a <$178 fan with an hour and a half labor. This works out to $381per hour labor cost. Both the a/c company and the parts supplier are within three miles of the house. The invoice provided no cost breakdown (parts, labor, etc.) just $750 placed here and there. Maybe this is in line with what other a/c companies charge but at this point, I will certainly cannot recommend them to anyone and will look elsewhere for any heating/air conditioning work.

They came out and passed our house. We have to wave to them to find us and they resolved nothing because when they came out the guy told us that we needed a gas valve and my husband asked how much is that and he said $650. My husband said I don't think so. He called the office and they reduced it to 450 and we said not to do it either. They called and we told them to forget it and don't worry about it. We called another company and they came out and told us that we didn't need a gas valve it was a water in there because it rained it kind to do with something and he fix it and the heat came right on. It would be better to get another opinion to make decision.

Complete inspection, very knowledgeable, found cause of high electric and gas bills previous winter. In changing thermostat last year the AC and Heat wires were crossed which caused both systems to run in the winter. I explained symptoms and he immediately located and remedied the problem. Would definitely use again and have referred them to two relatives.

They always take excellent care of me. Nahum is the man who has been coming out to do my seasonal maintenance for about the last 3 years. He is very nice, polite and also very clean. If he sees a small problem he makes you aware of it and presents you with the best options to fix it.

I did a lot of research for my parents before deciding on a company to replace their a/c and furnace. After having several people come out and provide estimates I decided to go with Guy Smith. They had the right price and the Angies list reviews were good. My dad had to take two seperate days off work because the guys didn't come when they were supposed to. They guys were supposed to be there Tuesday morning and showed up at 1p.m. and they replaced the furnace this day. Finished up around 8:00p.m. and told my dad the scheduling person would call to set up a time for them to come out and put in the a/c. Someone called him Wednesday night around 5p.m. and said they would be there Thursday morning. He had to call his job and hope he could be off the next day. So he called the scheduler back and told him it was fine and the scheduler told him they would be there Thursday morning. Again, they didn't show up until the afternoon. This is very unprofessional because my dad gets off work at 2p.m. so if they weren't able to come in the morning they could have given him an afternoon appointment. On Thursday they didn't finish until around 9p.m. The only other issue my parents had was the driver drove over the mailbox. My dad said they offered to pay for it but he fixed it himself and put it back up before the guys finished for the night. All in all the guys did an excellent job installing the furnace and new a/c unit and the cost was below the competitors. Other than the few minor issues they had I would say they did an excellent job and provided quality work. I would recommend them to my friends and family. I would rather have someone be late and do a great job than be prompt and provide sloppy work.

Not sure of date. Checked furnace. Told me it needed igniter and cost would be $770. Expensive for an old furnace, so talk turned to new furnace. I wanted other estimates and in process got competitor out and he repaired my furnace for $280. Substantial difference and he told me that blower was fairly new and furnace exterior was fine. I think Guy was trying to jerk me around into getting a new furnace.

Just purchased this residence and decided to have our a/c and gas heat serviced. I know nothing about gas heat and how it works. The service technician took time to explain our system to me and what he was going to do on the service call. The load on a capacitor that runs the fan unit was weak. He showed me the reading on his meter and recommended a replacement. He was clear that if I chose not to replace it at this time he would gladly re-install it for me. I was most impressed that our technician took time to answer any questions and wasn't "rushed" even though he had another stop and it was already 5:30 pm. I activated an annual service contract. As long as Norman (our technician) is available I will stick with Guy Smith.

I received a call from a tenant on a Sunday morning saying that he had no heat. This was the coldest day of the season so far. Since it was a Sunday and since it was very cold, I expected the service calls to be backed up. To my delight, I was called by the on-duty service tech, John, and he was on his way within a couple of hours. John was very professional and pleasant. He completed the work, called me with the results, and took the payment and sent me the invoice by email. The tenants were happy and I was happy. Thank you all at Guy's Heating.
Description of Work: Replaced a bad electrical connection unit.

From the start to the finish the technician was very professional. The technician was called because my old unit was not cooling. I had already planned to replace the 20 year old unit and he recommended replacing the unit with the same type. I know he was not looking to make a lot of money because he recommended a replacement instead of an upgrade. I had one other company come out a year prior and that technician said I needed an upgrade that was going to cost about 15K. At any rate, the technician from Guy Smith said that I needed a new condenser and said that he would put a temporary starter kit to get me by, He understood my financial situation. He then asked if I wanted a quote for a new unit. Once he completed the quote he gave other recommendations I already knew that needed to be completed. Once I got the contract the job was started and completed on time. I would definitely recommend this company. I chose this company because of the rating which was already an A. Keep up the good work Guy Smith.
Description of Work: Replaced my Apollo Heating/Cooling system. Also gave recommendations for the type of water heater I should have with my unit.
