It's a Sunday afternoon, 93F outside and the thermostat that controls the A/C turns off. We tried to change the batteries, reset it, but nothing happens. We call Guy Smith and one of their technicians, Brian N., calls us back within 10 minutes. He's at our house in about 15 minutes from the phone conversation. He realizes that the thermostat is broken and he replaces it. We are very pleased with the service offered. The provider promptly assisted us and Brian was fast and professional.

They responded quickly, they were on time and professional. The reason for the service call was to replace a drain pan under the main air condition unit as well as install an EZ-TRAP. The work was completed well and in a timely manner. However, the cost of the repairs were outrageous.

My first appointment with Guy Smith was the day before. The technician arrived on time, was thorough and professional. He informed me of my issue, asked me if i wanted them to go ahead and begin repairs or wait until after i received another estimate. I admired that in the technician, he didnt pressure me, he understood that they were not the only fish in the sea, but confident in the price that he quoted me. I found the price very fair, considering that it is the middle of summer and all too many times you meet contractors and companies who want to run up their labor charges just because they know the inconvience caused of a down HVAC system, in the middle of summer, at a rental property. I informed him that i would go with Guy Smith. The next day the technician arrived in the morning, and had the HVAC system up and running before lunch. My tenants were satisfied, and so was i. I purchased a service plan from them, at the affordable price of $150 yearly. I received 15% off parts and labor of job due to this. I most definitely will be calling this company again if i experience any heating and cooling issues at any of my other properties in the future.

Overcharging customers is a big problem in our industry and I intend to educate consumers on how to avoid becoming the next victim. There are two problems that we need to make people aware of ... gouging folks when they need help at the worst possible time ... and ... other BIG NAME franchise companies which pay their technicians based on how much money they can get out of you! We are not a franchise operation. We are a family owned and locally operated private company. All of my employees are paid by the hour. I truly believe that if we strive to always do the right thing for a fair price that we can not fail ... I raised my children that way and I only employ people who think that way. That is not to say that I have not had my fair share of bad apples, but it only takes a few weeks to figure out the true content of a persons character and I get rid of those folks as quickly as possible. All of our incoming phone calls are date and time-stamped and you called at 1:19pm on 6/5/2014. Our service techs are tracked using REAL TIME GPS systems and we arrived at your home precisely at 3:41pm on 6/5/2014. The technician quickly determined your 20 year old system was very low on refrigerant and provided you several written repair options and a written replacement estimate and departed your home at 4:19pm on 6/5/2014. He was very professional and patient with our situation.
Description of Work: My ac went out and I got a coupon from them. They came out within 30 min and he fixed the issue which ended up being a blown breaker.it was a very quick fix because the AC was fine. He said there was no electrical power to the heat pump. It needed more work on the electrical system. Has he was leaving he tried to sell a product to help the water pan drain. I told him bleach would work just as well. After he left I checked and reset the circuit breaker. It has worked correctly since then.

I reviewed the service notes from that visit and it looks like either you have an energy demand controller installed on this system or an intermittent electrical problem going on ... I am glad to hear you were able to simply reset the breaker and everything is working ... most of the time that is not the case. Regarding the product for your drain pan ... it is a treatment that helps prevent algae, fungus and other biological growth building up in your drain line. Yes, you can use bleach but we do not recommend that because it is not environmentally friendly ... it is also caustic and can damage some equipment. The technician also recommended replacing a weak capacitor. The bottom line is that we are there to make recommendations and to let you know what is going on with your system. Give me a 4 hour time window as to when they were going to show up. They did not show up within time window, no call. I called and they would sent somebody soon. They called back hour later and said technician was 10 minutes away, The technician did not show up until an hour later. The technician missed pronounced my last name. The technician quoted me for services needed, noting that the p-trap for the drain needed to be replaced.My wife was at home so I told them to hold off on that because it wasn't broken before the tech came. I went ahead and got the coils cleaned and refrigerant recharged. Upon inspection the p-trap was broken by technician. The p-trap is maybe a 10 dollar piece of PVC tubing. The quote to fix it was $200 dollars. This is frustrating because I work 40 + hours nights and weekends and I really don't have time to double check a paid service. The tech spend 15 minutes in house writing receipt. My wife was there with child while I was at work and the tech creeped her out. She just wanted him out of the house and did not examine receipt. Upon inspection of receipt they charged us again for diagnostic fee that we purchased through Angie's List. I called and they said that they would have to mail me the difference. I was referred to Ken Smith now because I was thoroughly displeased with service. He discounted the service and sent someone to fix p-trap for free. For someone who is really busy, this company was a major pain in the a**.

There were no troubles with scheduling and they were to come out shortly after purchasing the deal. The technician was punctual and completed the job in about thirty minutes. He checked the unit upstairs and the unit outside as well. He cleaned up well after completing the job. Everything turned out great.

Our heat pump stopped working the Friday evening of Memorial Day weekend. We are under a maintenance contract with the largest company In the area, yet they were closed until the Tuesday after the holiday. I promptly called them on that Tuesday to fix the unit. They could not get out until Wednesday. When they came, the unit was diagnosed with a frozen condenser motor. We were told that the part would be in Thursday or Friday and fixed by Monday. On Friday by noon I still had not heard from the company so I called them. I was told that the part was being shipped from the Trane company and would not be in until Tuesday of the following week at the earliest. I found this unacceptable because: 1) they installed the unit 12 years earlier 2) they had been the only company to service the unit 3) I had used this company for 40 years for 3 different homes 4) I was told by them that this time line was fine as the weekend was going to be cool 5) I was going to be out of town when they could possibly get the part and had a dog sitter coming to my home 6) they never bothered to call me to even ask if the timeline would work or to offer to have the part overnighted either at my expense or theirs 7) I was under a contract with them. I asked for the part number from the company and proceeded to go to Angie's list to find another company. Guy Smith was the 3rd company I called and the first one to have a technician on duty at 1:00 pm in the afternoon. They had the part and scheduled me for that very day. They were at my home within 2 hours and had my heat pump repaired within 30 minutes at a very reasonable cost. Jon Shaffer the technician was very courteous and professional. He went right to work and did an excellent job. This company offers free 2nd estimates on their work They work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. I will definitely be using them for future work. I received personalized service unlike I had been receiving from the other company. Also, I feel like I was respected in spite of being a woman. I cannot speak highly enough for this company and am very grateful for what they did for me and their quick response. I notice that a week and a half after they have repaired our unit, that the unit is working better than ever. We are getting a greater flow of air and a cooler flow of air than we have gotten for a few years. Thank you Guy Smith and Jon Shaffer!

First I must say we are part-timers in the area so scheduling can be difficult. Stephen was our sales person. First estimate was in the normal range of the other estimates we had received. Few weeks after that initial estimate, Stephen called back with a great price for American Standard unit. We accepted the offer. 2 days before installation, I was informed that the electrical hook up to our box was not included, more notice would have been appreciated. We called ET Lawson who was able to do the work and comment that they always included the hook up in the estimate. Not being an electrician I had no way of knowing what was needed to complete the job. The installation guys were amazing. They worked hard and did a great job. 2 thumbs up to these guys, especially in the hot attic. the inspector commented on the great job in the attic. So after a few hippups, we are happy and cool.

I called Guy Smith on Friday morning requesting service on my AC duct work. I also mentioned that I would like an estimate for a new furnace. After waiting all day, I called their office and learned that only a sales person, Austin, was coming out but that they would also send a technician who was on his way home and lived near me and could make the repair. Austin arrived friendly but unprepared, without a flash light to go under the house. I loaned him a flash light and waited while he inspected the house. He then said that he had to write up an estimate and it would be about 10 minutes. After 15 minutes the sales person was still writing so I informed him that I had already waited all day and that I needed to leave to pick up a child from school. I was told that the technician was on his way but couldn't start work without being paid. I told the sales rep I would return home shortly but to have the office call me for my credit card. The sales person agreed. I returned home and waited and waited. I called the sale's person's number, left a message and never heard back. He also did not leave an estimate for the new furnace. On Monday I called the business and Sunny, the Sales Manager, was defensive, had LOTS of excuses and in the end BLAMED ME!!!! He said that duct repair work didn't make a lot of money for the company and that he was at least 1- 1/2 weeks from being able to send someone to my home. He also said that the damage didn't look that bad and that it wasn't that big of a deal. Really??? I have a duct that is COMPLETELY separated from the register and as such is blowing cold air under my crawl space and NOT into my house. Let me also add that I was polite and never raised my voice but his demeanor was anything but courteous. I will definitely use someone else for the repair as well as the new furnace. The bottom line is that Guy Smith's company is more interested in making a sale than taking care of the customer.

My HVAC unit is located in my attic. During an all-night rainstorm, it began to leak through the ceiling and through my kitchen! I purchased the $20 service call special online and the next morning I received a call from their office to schedule the visit. They were very accommodating with setting an after hour appointment, and although it cost a little extra, I was happy to pay. Nate, the technician, arrived promptly and got right to surveying and fixing the problem. i needed a drain blowout and he also cleared out the drain line and added a float switch to prevent the ceiling damage. I would definitely use this company again.

The service was fine. I paid an extra $49 to look at the furnace as well. He hit the gas supply line switch while he was checking it, I had to call my warranty company and pay an additional $100 for them to get the switch turned back on.

It was great. We used them for the summer of 2012 and then we used them again for the winter. They were on time, clean and friendly. They got the job done. We did not pay more than the price of the big deal. They came in did their job and left. They were great and the quality of their work was great. They were excellent workers. I was pretty pleased with the overall outcome and I am sure that they answered my husband's questions if he had any because my husband was the one who was working with them. They even came a few minutes early.

I read the reviews on Angie's list before selecting Guy Smith to replace my entire system. I had done a lot of research in replacing the system and had a good idea of the cost of the unit and all of the duct work that needed to be replaced. They came back after the first deal to give me an even better one. They started two days after the contract was signed and worked 3 days straight to complete the project. They were prompt the first day to begin the process, they were patient to let me explain exactly what I wanted done and what was in the contract. I went to work and my wife(she works at home) and the guys were extremely respectful moving around the house and not to let the dogs out the gate. They were so quiet that my wife barely noticed them at all, this is a plus because she is a project manager on the phone most of the day with major customers. The removed all the old duct work from under the house, removed the old unit(an all in one gas pak) and began installing the new duct work the first day. They had also replaced all the vents, boots and branch runs to each room of the house. Over the next couple days they replaced all the return lines, installed a new return vent, enclosed the connections to the house, and removed all the old material from the premises. The installers were professional every step of the way and they did a phenomenal job throughout. I would highly recommend considering Guy Smith for all your Air Conditioning/Heating needs.

Service technician Norma was on time, went directly to work testing, evaluating, and servicing our units. This house sat for over a year without systems running and within the hour we had A/C. This was a great special and I would recommend it to anyone. Plus: I'd like to add that we have used Guy Smith Heating and Air for over 26 years. They installed the air and heating systems in our house 26 years ago (I had six estimates and they were most competent). Three years ago we replaced those systems again using Guy Smith. Today was phenomenal and Norman definitely knows his trade.

It went great. Brian Novak took time to make sure I understood everything he did and why. As a result of the service provided by Brian, I bought a maintenance agreement with Guy Smith Heating Cooling Electrical. In the years to come, I look forward to Guy Smith Heating ... and Brian Novak providing the service needed to keep my AC and heating running efficiently.
Description of Work: My service rep, Brian Novak, was on time and professional. He did an AC and furnace precision turn-up . I thought my American Standard was 10 yrs old,but found out it was just 8yrs old. He Explained how the unit should operate and what he did so I would get more bang for my buck. Brian did and energy checkup and explained what small steps I could take to be more energy efficient.

Another company came out and said it was safe and turned the heat back up.
Description of Work: Came and gave an estimate and shut her heating unit completely off.

We are required to shut down any unsafe heating appliances to protect your health and property. I am sure you have heard of cases where folks die from breathing exhaust gases from appliances that use gas for heating purposes. I would rather err on the side of protecting life than be facing a lawsuit for negligence. I tried to look up your address but you are not coming up in our system. I would love to look into this further and let you know exactly why we shut down your system. This rarely ever happens and I am concerned that you may be running an unsafe system. It looks as if you do not live in the home yourself and it that is true then it is even more important to make sure you do not expose your tenants to unhealthy conditions in the home. It went fine but that has been a while. That was for the winter and now we are getting ready to have our air conditioning unit serviced. I was not here when the guy who came out did the service so I cannot say exactly what he did but I assume that he cleaned and adjusted it and all that stuff. I think that we had to have one of the connectors or something fixed upstairs. He did a fine job and their company has been with us for a number of years now. I have no complaints. I was looking at the other advertisements and I thought that their pricing was pretty comparative overall. He charged what everybody else was charging and he showed up on time.
Description of Work: We used the big deal that we purchased from Guy Smith Heating & Cooling for servicing our heating unit.
