I went with Guy Smith because they were the first company out of about 5 that recommended changing the lineset with the heat pump replacement. Most other companies don't want to change the lineset because it is too much work--they just want to make the quick buck replacing the unit. Guy Smith's price was the same including the lineset replacement as other companies without the lineset replacement. Signed a contract on Friday, May 1st and they did the installation on Saturday, May 2nd. The sales guy Austin was professional and knowledgeable. The 2 installation guys John & John did a great job. Professional work, no non-sense. Will definitely use them again.

It is working fine. This review is way overdue. Sorry guys for being so late, you are the best!!! Once again my husband and I would like to thank Guy Smith Heating and Cooling for their service today. We fondly call them "the guys". Our history with this company dates back to Aug 2013 when our central air conditioner became sick. Since then they have comeback many times for different H VAC services. Each time ?the guys? would go out of their way to give us the best service we have ever had with H VAC services. Offering home demonstrations, discounts, sale prices, and even having drawings for free gifts etc. One time around Christmas 2013 they had to replace a heater part costing approx $1500. Several days before the installation, Kathy (head of ?the guys?) called to tell us we would be only paying around $900.00. Oh, this news could not have come at a better time. Merry Christmas! It seems the part that was broken was a recall so Guy Smith passed the savings on to us. You know if the company was not honest and trustworthy they could have pocketed the $600.00. Can anyone blame us when in March 2014 we decided to update our heating and cooling with a brand new system, and just guess who we called? My husband and I highly recommend Guy Smith Heating and Cooling for all your H VAC services. Sherry & John Clayton

I was unhappy with the estimate experience. It seemed like everything in our current system was wrong and everything needed to be replaced. What they said was included in the deal, wasn't or was different somehow. I took today off work and they said they would be here between 8am-9am. At 9:20 am, I called them to see where they were, and they had no record of my address or appointment. I spoke to someone in sales who recalled the conversation and said that they were sending someone out immediately. If I hadn't called, they would have missed me completely.
Description of Work: I purchased a Big Deal for $2,399 for a 3-Ton High-Efficiency Air Conditioner.

Thank you for providing feedback, and I am sorry for our scheduling mistake. I have identified the reason for losing track of your appointment and have implemented changes that will prevent this from ever happening again in the future. The deal you purchased plainly states "Some installation restrictions apply; special installations can be performed for an additional fee." Our deal plainly includes: An outdoor unit and an indoor coil and the labor to install such equipment. Buying a heating or cooling system on the internet is nothing like buying a common plug and play item like a window air conditioner or a car. Modern day heating and cooling systems are very sophisticated and require custom installation considerations that are different for every single home. Most customers have no idea what they really need ... they just know that they want their heating or cooling system to be working properly again. I never replace a system for a customer until we have reviewed the installation jobsite. There are almost always other issues that need to be addressed that you would not be aware of and we do not expect you to know in any case ... that is why we send out a professional to make sure you have purchased the right system for your home. If my staff looked over your old system and recommended additional work be performed, work not covered by the big deal you purchased, then that is our professional opinion. It would be irresponsible of me to simply install what you purchased without addressing all of the necessary work that should also be done to ensure proper system operation. I have to stand behind your installation and provide warranty service. As a rule, I do not install heating or cooling equipment unless all city code issues are corrected and all operational problems with the duct work, electrical and plumbing needs of the new equipment are corrected. I understand you are upset to hear that any additional work needed to be done, but if I just installed only what you purchased and ignored the additional needs, and then a few years later told you these other things need to be done then you would be upset that I did not make you aware of it in the beginning. So, in a way, we are darned if we do and darned if we don't tell you everything that needs to be done. I have chosen to be upfront with my customers and let them know exactly what they need before we start the job. I am sorry that you were not satisfied and wish you the best in your search for a new cooling system. Have a great day! Ken Smith President

It was an extremely negative experience. He showed up an hour late to start out with. I had to call them several times to get them out to the house. They had no intent on telling me that the deal was incorrect and that it was for a swap out not an installation. Instead they sent someone over and were looking at other ways to make money.
Description of Work: Came and said that we needed to have an existing humidifier for the deal. Stated that Angie's List had typed the promotion incorrectly. He said they couldn't honor the deal however they could use the $349 to install a steamed humidifier but we would have to pay to have all of the wiring ourselves and pay for the humidifier. He said the $349 would go towards it and not cover the full price.

He was very, very nice when he called me and gave me information today. Come to find out the advertisement for the deal is being pulled because it does not cover the electrical and plumbing work I need due to not having a humidifier on my unit. They also do not service my area. He offered to have someone else help me, but the estimate is twice what I expected to pay.

This was the 4th company I had come out in the last week to figure out how to get it running. The other 3 did not have an idea how to get the boiler running properly, so I was extremely satisfied with their know how. I contacted the company around 10pm the night before and they said they would be able to be out the next day. They called me that morning around 8:30 letting me know I was on the list. However they could not give me an estimate on what time they would be there which was a little annoying. The technician was not able to show up until around 6pm that night so they waived my service fee, so I was pleased. Technician was great! Also said I needed something replaced on my unit which is rather expensive but seeing how they are the only company that knew what they were doing I can't complain. I will write another review upon them completing the replacement of the part.
Description of Work: Provider came out to look at an older boiler for my heating system. Was able to re-light the boiler and check to make sure it was running properly. The boiler had not been lit in about 15 years, so I was pleased with his service.

They came out and checked the pump and informed me that it needs to be replaced. The men that came out to the house were very polite and professional. I was given an estimate for what it would cost to replace the pump but it is an expense that I can't afford at the moment.

they scheduled the work for tues. 11/04/2014 between 10:00 -- 2:00 --they called at 1:50 to say their tech. was running late. we rescheduled for today 11/05/2014 between 10:00 --2:00 at 1:55 they call to say their man was running behind --that I was next on the list would someone be home a little later-I said for a reasonable time --at 3:16 I called their office an cancelled the deal. a four hour on tues. and a five hour window equals nine hours of very poor planning I would like this deal cancelled and a return of my money. thanks

A+++++ Service!!! The office called 30 minutes prior to their arrival. The technician, Anthony, was a complete joy. He arrived at the expected time and was courteous, professional, friendly and very efficient!. I've used this company before and each of their technicians are great. Anthony got right to work. He checked my exterior and interior unit, water heater, and lightbulbs. He replaced what he could according to the Dominion Power guidelines and advised me of Guy Smith's annual contract which would save me money, potential problems, and cold calls. I will definitely use this company again and request Anthony as my preferred technician.

The tech was quick to resolve our original issue. The tech was courteous. Though a thick smell of alcohol surrounded the tech, he did not seem to be impaired. If detailed work in the unit would be required, I was concerned about collateral damage. The tech was pushy about a yearly maintenance plan. He assessed that a fan capacitor would cost $200 to replace which I thought was ridiculous since it is a $20 part and the capacitor is easily accessible in the unit. The tech said they don't come out for a non-member service call for less than $200 and tried to use this as a justification for the yearly maintenance plan (which came w/ its own yearly fee), which was supposed to offer significant "discounts." Their repair fee structure is greatly overpriced.
Description of Work: I called the tech in because our AC stopped working. He quickly found that an emergency switch had come off. Since he was already there, he suggested that we do a seasonal cleaning on the HVAC system. The cleaning was performed for an additional fee.

I have been using this company for several years now. They are very professional and respond swiftly to any issue I may have. I have a service agreement with them and that is the service that was performed in August.. The service tech, Norman, is thorough professional and pleasant. I would not call anyone else for this service. I think their prices are reasonable and the personnel, both technicians and office personnel, are always pleasant and professional.

AWESOME! Nothing but praise for Jerald and Richard (the technicians who did the job)! They were on time, professional and polite. They worked all day until the job was done-(raining off and on and battling mosquitoes!- I felt bad about them working in the rain, so we set up a canopy to help them stay dry ) they answered all my questions and advised me of every aspect of the job. They programmed my thermostat and checked the system to make sure it was running properly. When they were finished they cleaned up and left my yard as clean as it was when they got there! I've had Guy Smith for my Heat/AC for over 10 yrs. and couldn't be more pleased with their service!

I’ve been using Guy Smith Heating & Cooling for a few years and they are the only people I call because of the outstanding work they do. I signed up for a maintenance program through them for $149 that includes an inspection of the A/C unit twice a year. They come out and check the gas, filters and make sure everything is running smoothly. They installed the A/C unit in the house and up in the attic and everything has been working great since then. The technicians are very professional and know what they are doing. I had nothing but problems with my AC since I originally bought my new house back in 1996. Since Guy Smith installed this new A/C unit, I have noticed my electricity bill has dropped 40% in usage and in saving. I would highly recommend this company to everyone.

The technician arrived quickly and did a very thorough inspection of both A/C units and air handlers. He kept me apprised of the cost of parts as he inspected and was very clear about what needed to be fixed immediately and what could wait. He was very knowledgeable and explained in detail the issues with both systems and gave me projected replacement dates for each system. I was very pleased with not only the quick response, but also the amount of time and attention the technician took inspecting the system. I would definitely use this company and this technician again.
Description of Work: Replaced broken contacter in one air handler, installed UV lamps in both air handlers to correct mold problem, installed float switches in both air handlers, replaced broken capacitor in one air handler, twice yearly maintenance plan, etc.
