"Thank you for your feedback. I spoke to the technician at length about the situation at your condo. Part of our service is to check the entire vent line prior to cleaning it to make sure everything is up to VA Residential code. It is especially important to see the termination point to make sure the vents are exhausting properly to the outdoors and that the airflow has not been impeded in any way by a screen or a cage which is prone to collecting lint and negatively affecting the airflow. Your condo is on the 4th floor and the vent which runs up the wall, should have terminated through the roof, but the technician did not observe any dryer roof vent (only attic air vents) and because there was no attic access, he could not check the line that way either. If in fact, the vent goes into the attic and is not expelling to the outdoors, then you are likely getting lint as well as a lot of moisture going into the attic area. Every time you dry a load of clothes, a half to a gallon of water has to expel through the vent line and if it does not go to the outdoors then you can have moisture issues like mold and mildew build up in an area where it can cause problems. The technician did end up cleaning the line from the inside, but told you at the time that he was definitely hitting something at the end of the line like a wood stud. We never like to clean it sight unseen and you definitely need to still be concerned that it is not venting properly. Also, I am not sure what you mean by "later found out that the problem was lint in the dryer and not the line" as the dryer was not in operation when we were at the home. Also if lint is building up in the dryer it again indicates that you may not be venting properly. At this point, as was recommended at the time of service, we still believe you should get in touch with the condo association to see if you can get some further information on how to access the attic and/or see if they have any information on the vent termination for the top floors. If there is anything we can do to further assist you, please do not hesitate to contact us. Sincerely, Nancy Cunningham, Owner Dryer Vent Wizard of Southeastern VA"
