"We are happy that your power is restored. But since you didn’t actually call us and you weren’t at the house when we were, I wanted to add detail: You’re correct, we responded quickly: Your girlfriend, Breonna, contacted us at 6:31 am on Yelp. & we had our master electrician there by 8:40 am. Your review implies that we charged an outrageous fee for no work. This is not correct. Troubleshooting requires training, experience & tools & is indeed work. Our master electrician & helper worked for well over an hour: testing at over a half dozen locations. He found that much of your home is on a single overloaded and rigged circuit. (This is dangerous but seen often in homes where unpermitted changes have been made.) Not yet finding the cause, he then planned to painstakingly trace the wire through the crawlspace, but they saw standing water there. This, combined with the bad wiring, made it dangerous and necessary to delay work there until it dried. Believing that tracing wires in the crawl was required, and not wanting to waste time or overcharge her, he explained to Breonna that he intended to come back when it would not be dangerous to the crew. Because they failed to solve this in one trip, we chose to charge her a discounted rate for only the first hour of the work ($175) and we offered her an additional discount on our return visit. You said another electrician solved it, but not how. Knowing what our own expert had already seen, there are 3 possible ways that he or she succeeded: 1) The cause was actually moisture from the storm that had coincidently dried out and started working by itself; 2) the electrician chose to do something illegal in the panel that no licensed electrician would; or 3) the electrician got extremely lucky and found something that we somehow missed. I suspect you will continue to have power issues due to the poor wiring. I strongly recommend you have a licensed electrician inspect & correct this so that it can be safe & reliable."
