Our 25-year old air conditioner decided to die in the middle of summer.  We hired American Mechanical to replace our outdoor unit and the air handler that was in our attic.  They installed a new Trane system and it is working great so far.  My husband had to call the office a number of times to check on the status of when the parts came in and when we could schedule them to install the new system, but that was to be expected, especially during the middle of summer when I am sure they are very busy.  It took about one week from the time we hired them for them to get the parts in and get the new system installed.  However, the company lent us a window A/C unit to carry us over until they were able to put the new system in.  Three technicians came to our house to take away the old condenser and air handler and install the new ones.  They were very courteous and professional, took off their shoes when coming in the house, and put down drop cloths all the way from our front door up the stairs to the attic so as to protect our floors and prevent them from getting dirty.  They got to our place around 9:30 in the morning and were done everything by about 3pm.  I thought the price for the work, while high, was fair, especially with it being the middle of summer and the unit being a Trane.

The job went perfectly from start to finish!  I would highly recommend them.  I was also impressed at the level of excellence provided by the customer service reps answering the phones.  They were friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful answering all of my questions.  They've got a happy customer for life in me..and I can't wait for the chance to recommend  them!

American Mechanical Inc came out on Christmas eve. He came out and he was really nice. I liked the service. If there's a problem, they come back, no quibble, no quabbles. They show up when they're supposed to and when something goes wrong they came it right. Their job is kind of almost seamless. Their price was fare.

Literally just got done with this company.  I called at 1000 because I found my water heater leaking/dripping in my basement.  I called because I had used them in the past with the peak performance plan for AC/Heating.  Liz in the plumbing department told me they could have someone out in 40min, gave me an estimate of $900-$950 for a new State, 40gal, gas water heater with a 6 year warranty.  I told Liz I needed to leave my house for a work event by 130p she assured me it could be done by then.  An hour went by, no call, no person so I called back.  Liz told me that they had gotten side tracked due to a gysier of water (at an undisclosed location) and said the tech would be there in 20 min, 30 min later the tech called and another 35 min he arrived.  Showed him to my basement, he took a look, went outside gave me a price quote of $981 and said he would have to go get the water heater...clearly this wasn't going to happen by 130.  He then said it would be $49.  What?  Liz said that would go towards a replacement.  I called Liz again and after talking in circles with her and pointing out that I too had water everywhere, I asked to speak to a manager, I was told they were in a 'meeting' and she would give them a message.  Liz then called the tech to tell him that I was not going to be charged...little did Liz know the tech was standing in MY HOME, Liz told him "get the h*** out of there, get the h*** away from that crazy lady" very professional Liz, very professional.  I am waiting for a call from the manager so we will see...  DO NOT reccommend due to lack of respect and professionalism from staff (tech was very nice).  The tech even looked embarrassed after Liz's comment on the phone.  If you want to deal with a 'customer service' person that wants $1000 of your money to call you names and yell at you go for American Mechanical.

The people from American Mechanical were very professional and very accommodating. The installation guy even gave me his personal cellphone number to call if we needed any help.

They were very fast and their price was significantly more competitive than others. They completed the job in minimum time.

Prompt house visit to diagnose issue. On time for the job to be done. Work finished in slotted amount of time.  The gentleman was professional and very courteous. I even called his manager to tell him what a great job he had done.

They installed it with the exhaust aimed towards the house. It ran for 3 days after the hurricane, then the carbon monoxide detector in our house went off around midnight. The fire department evacuated us and we spent the next 3 nights in a hotel. Our family spent about $500 between the hotel, fast food (since we couldn't cook) and defrosted food that had to be thrown out. When Vepco finally sent American Mechanical back out to look for problems their "Generator Specialist" said the carbon monoxide wouldn't have killed us if we stayed in the house. He said since Codes & Compliance passed it they wouldn't turn the generator away from the house unless they're paid another $500.

From start to finish, American Mechanical provided a professional and knowledgeable crew. They worked well together and cleaned up after themselves. They were agreeable to time changes to meet our schedules. The office cheerfully answered my questions when I called.

Called before they came, came on time, gave a quick and accurate estimate. Technician was courteous, fast and professional. If you're getting electrical work done, ask for Sam.

We called them and they replied quickly. They showed up the next day to see what kind of equipment they would need and what would fit into the space that was already provided. They showed up the following morning and installed it with no problems and in good time. Everything works fine. Their price was very fair and in fact less than the company we used for our air conditioner. It was a very good price.

OMG...THANK GOD FOR THIS COMPANY. I WOKE UP THIS MORNING WITH MY BEDROOM CEILING COLLAPING JUST FEET FROM MY BED. AFTER SEARCHING ANGIIE'S LIST, I CALLED AMERICAN MECHANICAL. THE WOMAN ON THE PHONE WAS VERY SYMPATHETIC, PROFESSIONAL, AND EFFICIENT IN SENDING ME DOUG. DOUG ARRIVED, WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL, MY BILL WAS EXACTLY WHAT HE SAID IT WAS GOING TO BE, AND HE FINISHED IN LESS THAN 2 HOURS. JOB WELL DONE. I WILL RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY AND USE THEM IN THE FUTURE, AND TO BOOT, I SAVED $20.00 OFF MY BILL FROM A COUPON I PRINTED OFF ON-LINE FROM ANGIE'S LIST.

Ask for a free estimate on electrical problem and outlet for microwave over stove. Made that very clear with a person name Lou. Service came out told us we needed another box and microwave outlet would be $675.00. Charged me a $85.00 for a service call, but no service done. Tried to put the $85.00 towards the new box. Lou stated it was no problem,will call back the next day, she never call us back, we had to call them back, just been given the  run around. I am in the customer service business and avoiding a potential customer is bad business. We feel very disrespected and taken. 

I called them on a Sunday morning for a sewage backup. They were here within a couple of hours of the call, called to let me know they were on the way and got the problem taken care of in about an hour. They were professional, well priced and treated me with respect and compassion for the situation we were in with the backup. I have used them for heat/air, plumbing, and electrical and have yet to have a bad experience. I have used them since 1999 and will use them again.

Our A/C unit has had a leak since last summer and our furnace stopped working right before Thanksgiving. We knew when we bought our home that the A/C unit and furnace would need to be replaced since they were original to the home and over 20 years old. We had 4 different companies give us estimates and American Mechanical was the best choice for us because of the added value of the included 10 year warranty on the system. Most of the other companies wanted us to join some club and/or pay extra each month for a 3 year warranty. This company was very professional and great to work with. They sent two of their employees to install the system. It took them from about 8am until 4pm to completely remove the old system and install the new one. They cleaned up all of their mess and were very respectful of our home while working. We did have a problem with the condensation tube not being insulated properly and our system stopped working just a few days after being installed but they came and fixed the problem immediately (at no charge, of course). We are very happy with the service and quality of work that was provided to us by American Mechanical.

In the end it went well. The first technician came out on a Wed and I couldnt tell that the work had been done (I still wasn't getting any airflow/heat to my laundry room vent). I called the office the next day and they sent someone out on the following Friday and everything was resolved. I wasn't exactly sure why I wasn't getting heat to that vent on Wed but the company was responsive about getting it fixed and they did not charge me until they checked back in with me and confirmed that I was satisfied. I thought the professionalism was great. I would definitely use them again.
