About us
Zippy Shell is a full service moving and storage company. Our teams of licensed, insured personnel will pack your things into boxes (if needed), disassemble, pad, and wrap furniture, transport everything to your new home, and then unload, unwrap, and reassemble furniture at your new home. Need storage? Zippy Shell has it's own POD system for storing your things during your move. We have a brand new, 34,000 foot, climate-controlled facility to store your things before you move into your new home. If you prefer to have your POD remain at your house, we can delivery one of our all-steel, weatherproof containers. The containers are designed to remain at your house while you use them or they can be transported to your new house.

"Thank you for your review! We all have bad days - and I've had plenty of those myself. I truly appreciate your business and the opportunity to work with you. Good luck in your new home! - Bill"
We worked with Bill Shannon, he was GREAT!
We cannot recommend Zippy Shell enough! They pull up right in front of your house or in your driveway with a STREET LEGAL trailer- this means NO getting permits like one has to for box/pod type storage- big plus. Also it takes much less room to just park the trailer as opposed to a truck with a crane dropping a pod.
There is a steel storage cage inside the trailer (our was 8'x15' I think) once you fill it up they come by, haul away the trailer to their warehouse until you need it again. They arrived right when they said they would. You provide your own lock on the cage so you are the only one that has access to the unit.
We had considered a storage unit verses a Zippy Shell, and Zippy was less expensive per square foot. Being able to load directly from your house to the curb was huge verses loading everything in a hired truck, driving to a storage unit, then unloading. We did end up getting a storage unit for a number of extra items we had to remove from the house for staging and trust me, the Zippy Shell was SO much easier!
When it came time to get the Shell back for the big move out of town, they showed up again, right when they said and picked up the empty trailer very quickly after we were done with it.
We did all our own loading but they do offer loading services for a very reasonable charge and will drive the shell to another location or town if need be. It is really a clever set up!
Very smooth, easy operation. We have happily recommended Zippy Shell to neighbors who will be renovating soon. Without exaggeration, is was the easiest part of our move!
I had requested it be returned on a Friday afternoon so that I would not have to try to take off work to deal with the unloading. However, the Friday I requested was not available. Mr. Shannon did work with me and a compromise was worked out where it would be delivered on a week night but he would give me some extra time to get it unloaded. However, over the weekend prior to the scheduled delivery Mr. Shannon called and proposed another solution that worked even better for myself and my sister.
We were very pleased with the service and the willingness of Mr. Shannon to meet our delivery needs.
"Thank you, [Member name removed] - I'm so happy that you had a positive experience with us. I've owned this business for 5 years now and I still love hearing from my customers. Best of luck in your new home! Bill"
There is, of course, a monthly fee for the storage and another fee to move across country. But the fees seem very reasonable for the work that is being performed.
Bill Shannon was very kind when I thew a monkey wrench in his system, and found me people to load the shell quickly and efficiently. Everyone I have had contact with is kind and helpful?I am very happy with this service.
"Thank you for your review, [member name removed]! I'm so happy that you had a good storage and moving experience with us. Please let me know if we can ever be of service to you. Zippy Shell loves helping Angie's List Members. Bill"
"Thank you for your review, [removed member name]. As the owner of Zippy Shell Storage and Moving, I strive to make sure that every customer is treated fairly - the same way I like to be treated when I purchase products and services. I think our local, hands-on approach makes a big difference to our customers and helps set us apart from the big companies. After all, storage is the mostly the same, so it's the level of customer service that really separates companies in this business. We're proud to be on Angie's List and love helping Angie's list members! Bill"
I was very disappointed with their lack of communication and scheduling. I called to schedule the delivery of my shell and they were booked solid. I found out that if I hired them to unload the shell for $225 then it would be available the next Friday. Bill Shannon, the owner and scheduler, said that he would give me a call early the next week to tell me what time they would arrive. When I didn't hear from him by Thursday afternoon I called him and he told me I should expect his crew between 11-12. Since it was in the middle of a workday, I got a substitute (I'm a teacher) and hired a babysitter to be with my children when school was over. Bill then called me later that night at 9pm to tell me that he had to juggle things around and they would not be coming until 3:00, 5:00 at the latest. I was annoyed because I had taken leave from work and that was now unnecessary but it was too late to change my plans. I called the babysitter and extended her time.
The next day I waited at the house from 3:00-5:00. When no one arrived by 5:15, I called Bill. He said they were running late and they weren't sure when they would get there. He would not give an ETA until I insisted. He called me back and said 6:30. At 6:30 he texted me and said they would arrive at 7:00. At 7:15 his crew arrived. By this time it was getting dark, they could not see inside the shell, and they were clearly tired. By 9:30 they were finished and I returned home to the babysitter.
Bill discounted the unloading fee by $50 which I felt was insufficient since I wasted about $60 in unnecessary babysitting fees and 4 hours waiting for them, not to mention the money I would have made by going to work that day. I replied to Bill's email expressing my dissatisfaction but have not yet heard back. I have spent more than $1500 with their company over the last 8 months, a $50 discount for their negligence which cost me both time and money, is insulting.
I would not use Zippy shell again, nor would I recommend them to my friends.
"We did have some delays when returning (deleted member name) storage pod. She originally wanted the unit delivered on Saturday, but we couldn't make that happen, so I offered a Friday return. Although our policy is to not promise specific arrival times, I try to give customers a window of time that we will arrive. Unfortunately, the other loading/unloading jobs that were scheduled before (deleted member name) took longer than expected, which pushed us into the Friday afternoon rush hour. The traffic didn't help and we arrived late to return and unload (deleted member name) unit. During the afternoon, I had spoken directly to (deleted member name) and apologized for the delays. I was very sympathetic to her babysitting situation and immediately offered a discount off our services. In the end, (deleted member name) received a 20% discount off services that were provided in full on the day that we scheduled. She has requested a 100% refund of her money, but I unfortunately can't do that due to my costs for the gas and labor to unload her unit. I work very hard to please my customers and always try to do the right thing. In this case, however, I cannot afford a full refund for services that were rendered, albeit later than expected."
