Terrible services from this local office. Was double billed at times for service, was told services were preformed when they were not, told they would come and treat lawn and showed up days later. Calls to the office to speak with managers were never retruned after leaving several messages. Had been with this company for years. This is my last service in Nov as I was prepaid for the 2013 year. Do not use this company of you are in this area. Very poor customer service and terribel local office management. The parent compnay may be good but the Sterling location is not..

Can't really complain about the lawn program, however the shrub service is horrible. Last year I had a severe aphid infestation and also a scale problem. I went to a local nursery and purchased products to correct the problems and had the manager come out and explain to me why their service did not detect and correct the problem. I decided to give them another chance...my mistake. Recently I noticed I have another severe scale problem on a large hedge. I called and requested a manager come out, inspect my shrubs and call me with an explanation.. I never received a call but they sent me a statement that noted I had a severe scale problem and the bush would probably need to be replaced. No kidding!! Actually, what will be replaced is Trugreen.

When they took over AgroLawn, Trugreen never provided any information about their services, the cost, etc. They just continued to provide services under the AgroLawn agreement. On July 30, 2013, I called to obtain information about Trugreen's services as our previous payment to Agrolawn had been used up. Cam said he would have the service manager call me. On August 13, I called again. Johnny tried to check whether a service manager was available, but was unsuccessful. He said he would pass the message on to the service manager to call me. On August 24, I called to cancel their services. (They continue to provide services until the homeowner actively cancels the account.) I was transferred to Charles. Charles politely tried to get me to continue my account, indicating that he would be able to get someone to contact me. As I did not want to have to make another phone call, I cancelled my account, but told Charles that I would be happy to receive a call to obtain information about Trugreen's services if they wanted to regain my account. I never received a call.
Description of Work: Trugreen took over AgroLawn in 2012. We were a 20+ year customer of AgroLawn. I tried to get information about Trugreen's services when our AgroLawn contract expired this year. Trugreen did not return phone calls or provide any information about their services.

We pre-paid for the tree service and they have treated once !They said they were waiting for the leaves to fully cover trees ! Well now the leaves have fully covered the trees and we've seen them once.that was early spring our trees have many problems scales, Black rot,and other issues .We did not prepay for the lawn service they come on a timely schedule. They either come and don't call or call and don't come . Not very happy with the lawn, looked better before the lawn service. I do not think we will continue with TruGreen after this season.

We signed up with Agrolawn several years ago and were very happy. TruGreen bought Argolawn and the service deteriorated from that point on. Our lawn looks terrible and TruGreen seems more intent on selling additional services than taking care of their part of the deal. We were very unhappy and scheduled an appointment to have a representative come by so we could discuss our issues. TruGreen could not understand anything other than coming out and doing another treatment which we didn't want. We wanted to show our yard to a representative and discuss with them. The first appointment, the rep did not show. When I called the person I spoke to (who was in Dallas TX) was very apologetic and said it was a family emergency. We rescheduled for noon last week and at 3:30, I called and told them to forget it. I was going to find another company.

Billing has become incoherent. An invoice in April went missing; a May invoice reflected ONLY the May bill, so I paid that. Then they started calling about the April bill--with a robot which, when the phone got answered, PUT ME ON HOLD. Why would I want to do business with a company that wastes my time like that, not to mention their own (and thus mine in the form of my payments) by not (a) aggregating invoices (b) resending at least once if something is overdue? Answer: I wouldn't. So I'm not. Really a shame, because ChemLawn were good people.

TruGreen acquired our previous lawn vendor, Agro-Lawn, a locally based company that had been treating our lawn satisfactorily for several years. Relying on TruGreen was worse than having no lawn care at all. Had known I wouldn't get the treatments I paid for, I could have done it myself and known what was happening. But since I've been relying on TruGreen my lawn has deteriorated noticeably. I now have bare spots all over my lawn that were not there before. Today, in December, my lawn has lots of stripes where they failed to apply the lime in their final treatment. Earlier I had to have them come out twice after my regular application to re-treat my broadleaf weeds, which were flourishing. And even for the second re-do they refused to schedule it at a time when I could be home, so I could show them what they had been missing. And since I work from home, I was readily available. Only at the end of the season, when they applied a lime treatment that allowed me to see exactly where they had treated and where they didn't, did I discover that all year long they had been skipping the very places with poor grass coverage that I had asked them to apply extra fertilizer to. Their technician ?explained? that he had misunderstood where my property line was. Even then he refused to provide an extra treatment to my struggling areas that he had skipped all year, because ?That might burn it, and that would be on me.? It often takes 10 minutes to get through to someone at ?my? TruGreen call-center, which is in Pennsylvania, several states away. The people in that office say they?re embarrassed at my experience. But not the guys who have been providing my ?service.? I do not recommend this company.

Our shrubs are in poor shape, we have lost some bushes. The lawn was seeded and aerated, but the machine went over our driveway and damaged both sides of the driveway. Not all areas were seeded. We called but they never came back to redo the areas missed. It took 6 months, a lot of calls and emails to corporate and a lot of patience to resolve the driveway issue. They finally sent a check to cover the damage.. It was very hard to talk to a real person and the response sometimes took months. We will never use Truegreen again. We canceled our contract.

We enjoyed the same technician, Karl, for the years we contracted with TruGreen. He was careful in applying the material, closed gates when he was finished, left Legible notes regarding what he did and why it was beneficial for our trees and shrubs. When asked about a problem area, he always provided clear and thougtful responses. We felt the Service was becoming too pricey and sought estimates from other sources using Angie's List. We have not renewed our Service Contract for 2013.

They bought out my local company, Agrolawn, who I've been with for years. Agrolawn was great since they were able to salvage a yard that started out as more than half weeds and were always very responsive when I called them to come reapply weed killer or reseed. Since the take over, Trugreen seems to have employed the exact same people who were working on my lawn before. They have come out a few times outside the routinely scheduled visits to fix some of the problem areas left by some contractors who did work at my house.

Very bad experience with them. Several issues: 1. They keep sending me bills for the services that I have already prepaid. I signed one-year service with Agrolawn and prepaid the whole year service. TruGreen acquired Agrolawn early this year. Don't understand why TruGreen does not follow the service agreement I entered into with Agrolawn. 2. Their telephone customer service is lousy. I had to wait 10 to 20 minutes before I can talk to a CSR, who often couldn't answer my questions. 3. They failed to control the broadleaf weeds in my yard. Now the weeds run more rampant than my neighborhood, who does not use any professionals to take care of their lawn.

The guys who come out to do the work are splendid. They are always professional and courteous. The problem is their billing and customer service department. I paid for my services in advance to get the 10% discount, and I got 4 invoices during the course of the year. I had to call each time to get them to confirm that I should ignore the invoice since I'd paid in advance. Each time, it took 2 calendar days to get that done - I would call, stay in queue for about 20 minutes, then get an answering service who would promise me a call back within 24 hours. That happened once; the rest of the times I ended up having to call them back. Once I finally got someone on the phone, they were generally pleasant and courteous - but they really need to fix their billing system. I'm not sure that I am going to renew with them for another year. The services are pretty good, but I'm not sure I've got the patience to deal with them again. I guess we'll see.

I hired TruGreen late this summer to take over my lawn service. They came out a couple of times, and my wife tells me the servicemen were very friendly. At the end of August, my lawn was looking pretty bad and spotty. I tried to call TruGreen to hire them to do my lawn aeration and overseeding. I had a lot of trouble getting a hold of anyone by phone, and kept getting sent to an answering service. After leaving many messages and sending several emails, I was finally able to talk to someone at the Sterling office on October 15th. He promised to rush out and do the service within seven days, and apologized for not calling me back earlier. That period passed, and the service was not done as promised. I tried calling again today, but could only get through to the answering service. After I called the national number, canceled my service, and hired someone else to do it, I received a phone message from Kevin at TruGreen. He apologized for not completing the service and offered to do it for free if I remained with TruGreen. I tried returning the call to the number that he left, but was only routed to an answering service again.

My experience with Trugreen was terrible. I live in Loudoun County and county officials highly recommended homeowners to treat their yards for ticks this summer. I contacted Trugreen based on a recommendation AND because the county was using them to treat parks and such. First, it took a while for the sales guy to even call me back. Eventually, we worked out a contract to include FIVE treatments every six weeks starting in June through September. He told me he was throwing in weed treatment for free. Sounds great, right? The first treatment was as expected: weed and pest treatment. The second and third treatments occurred as scheduled however it wasn't until weeks later when I reviewed the service summaries that I realized they only did the lawn treatment, not the pest treatment. I called several times. I spoke with their call center twice and they said I was only listed in the computer as a lawn care client. Despite my arguing that I was a pest care client, that I had a copy of my contract to prove it, they said my only option was to speak to the original sales person with whom I started my contract. Both times, the call center said they would forward my message to my local office and someone would call me back. No one called me. After a week, and a few emails to the sales person, I finally connected with him. He looked into what happened; turns out I was entered into the computer system as a lawn care client. The part about getting the pest treatment was placed in the "Notes" section. He said he was going to speak to the local manager and get it sorted out. Great, I thought. Someone will come back this week to treat for ticks. Nope. It took three weeks before someone came back to my house to do the pest service. So, I was misled about the nature of my agreement. My $500 was spent on the wrong treatments AND my yard was treated for ticks twice when it should have been five times. My experience with their customer service left much to be desired. AND, to top it off, I received a renewal contract in the mail for $200 more than I spent this year. It's a shame, really. Trugreen lost a potential annual client.

The technician who serviced our trees and shrubs was knowledgeable and responsive as far as we could tell. After having a new arborist out to inspect our trees and shrubs, we found out that we had numerous problems and one of our trees had a disease that would kill the tree. We had paid Trugreen up until September to treat for any problems related to our shrubs and trees, but obviously that was not being services properly. The lawncare and customer service left a lot to be desired. It is impossible to reach the company without spending alot of time on hold. If you try to call the local office you are forwarded to the main office and the same message about high call volume is on no matter what time of day you call. I twice requested a call from the manager of our local office, and never heard a word. Our lawn over the course of treatment developed weeds in spots that were not treated. I watched the technicians and they were not treating certain points in our yard - the narrow area of grass next to the sport court was skipped as was the area along the pool fence. The lawn began to have brown patches. I asked the technician what might have caused this. He stated that it was probably pet urine. I pointed out that we had always had pets and never had this problem before. After being told that he was sure that it was "just your pets", I persisted and he got down on his knee and pulled up the dead grass and said "oh, you have grubs". He treated the front yard and told me the back and side yards were fine. The next week, I walked out to the brown spots in the back, pulled up the grass and there were grubs. I called and cancelled all services. It did take about 25 minutes on hold to even cancel with them. We were also not aware of when they were coming. We would get a call that they would be out later in the week, and then no one would show up. The next time they would show up with no notice. One day I came home to find a note that the lawn had been treated and should not be mowed for 24 hours. Our mowers had already been there that day right after Trugreen!

We started with Chemlawn, and then Tru Green bought them out. Several years ago, they seeded our lawn and there was rye grass mixed in. We've had a lousy lawn ever since. The rye has taken over the tall fescue despite subsequent seedings and is very shallow rooted. We have numerous bare spots (no pets, and we have an in-ground sprinkler system). Tru green is also supposed to care for our trees and shrubs. We have scale on our ornamental plum trees and they never seem to be able to get on top of it. Our burning bushes have lost all their leaves due to mites and they don't seem to look around when they're here to acertain what issues are going on in our yard. But the main reason I'm dumping this company is because I have called repeatedly to get a manager out here and even though 2 "specialists" have said they'd also tell the office a manager needed to come out, I have heard zilch. Nada. Nothing. This kind of non-responsiveness is UNsatisfactory.

I had a nice new lawn this past spring, we had it graded and reseeded by a local professional and the grass had come in nicely and was healthy. I tuned it over to Tru Green out of Sterling for maintenance and they let if go to h*** with weeds and grab grass. Apparently they don't really assess the lawn and apply lawn care knowledge, they only put you in their canned scheduled program and hope for the best. They when I confronted them I got the run around for two weeks. They finally agreed to reseed and treat the lawn for free but at that point I did not want to deal with them and demanded a refund. Now I am back to where I started with a yard full of weeds and wasted a growing season.

Agrolawn used to care for my lawn during he past 3 years. They did a wonderful job. Trugreen bought them out late last year and started to provide the servcies Agrolawn provided. In a nutshell, Trugreen's level of service is terrible and customer-focus is non-existent. I miss Agrolawn. For the amount of money I pay, I have certain expectations from Trugreen. Expectation number 1: When I call, I expect somebody to answer the phone. Not with Trugreen - they route the call to somewhere. Somebody answers the phobe after being on hold for 30 minutes. The person is rude. I leave a message with them for the local management to return my call. No one calls me back. Expectation number 2: The work is done in a timely manner. Not with Trugreen. They claim somebody came to my house last week to fertilize the yard. Normaly when that happen, a note by the door is left. Nothing left. No work was done. Expectation number 3: My yard is weed-free. Not with Trugreen. Plenty of weeds around the perimeter. Lots of spurge, wild ivy and dandelion all over. Expectation number 4: My yard is nice thick and green: Not with Trugreen. Brown spots and dead grass all over. Expectation number 5: They are customer-focused. Not with Trugreen. They are rude and don't return phone calls. Expectation number 6: I should be a happy customer. Not with Trugreen. Trugreen could care less. I miss Agrolawn. Expectation number 7: They take pride in their work. Not with Trugreen. Truegreen could care less. I miss Agrolawn. I will fire Trugreen. Yes, I am not happy!

I got a call from Tru Green. After talking with a very agressive salesperson. After just placating her, she said she would have someone come back to get my credit card information. I got a call a few minutes later which I didn't pick up because I had already decided not to use them. So I didn't authorize the work, sign a contract, or give them my credit card information. They came anyway and did a treatment and now have been harrassing me constantly for payment. Even after my several calls to their office, they won't stop calling plus they came by and did an analysis of my yard without my ok and are trying to sell me more services. I WOULD NEVER do business with this company and recommend no one do business with them. Even if their work was great, their ethics and professionalism are a disgrace.
