The house is over 50 years old and has had three additions over the years. The result was a patchwork of poorly designed and inadequately connected and insulated ducts. On the advice of our insulation company, we decided to replace the duct work. We received several bids, most similar, and Nugent's was very competitive. We had used Nugent before and found them responsive, so we went with them. The job took three full days. The crew removed all the old metal and flex ducts, including boots. They replaced everything--boots, supply lines, returns and installed a new drip pan that sits above the insulation. They also installed new water lines and alarms. Every line has a damper in it, and mastic was used to ensure the entire system is air tight. The estimator, Mike, was helpful and competent. Most of the actual work in the attic was done by another Mike and Jack, with a few others coming and going. The crew, particularly Mike and Jack, were hard working, competent and careful about what they did. Of course, we need summer heat to give the new system a true test, but at this point, we are very pleased with the outcome and feel we got our money's worth in materials and work.

It was probably the most satisfactory experience we've had with providers of home improvement/repair services in the 26 years we've lived in our home. The very professional, friendly and knowledgeable technician, arrived on time, assessed the situation with our furnace and made recommendations without being pushy or overbearing. He gave us a very reasonable estimate for all equipment and services and then did exactly what he said he would do -- again arriving on time to do the install He and his assistant were so professional and workmanlike in the way they did the work that I barely knew they were there. They were consistently considerate of our home and not making a mess. Everything was left clean and neat. They answered all my questions cheerfully and knowledgeably. I can't overstate how pleased we are with the entire experience!! We cannot recommend John Nugent & Sons highly enough.

This was really a hassle free, positive experience. I requested an estimated for a whole house humidifier and John Nugent and Sons were out to give me one within a few days. Their price was competitive with other estimates, and they answered any and all questions that I had since this was my first experience with humidifiers. I was able to get this scheduled fairly quickly on the day I work from home, and the guy (sorry I am forgetting his name) who did the installation was fantastic. Arrived on time, was very respectful of my house, and spent plenty of time after he was done showing me all of the features and how everything worked. Top notch job and I look forward to using John Nugent & Sons in the future.

When I unexpectedly learned that my oil furnace had to be replaced, John Nugent & Sons was one of the contractors I contacted for an estimate. They quickly responded and had an estimator there the next day. He assessed the situation, showed me the options available, and provided a quote immediately. I had a narrow window in which I needed the furnace installed, and they were able to satisfy that. Both the estimator and the technicians that installed the furnace were very punctual, and the technicians were clearly professionals who cared about the quality of their work and maintaining the cleanliness of my basement. I was very happy with the work that was done and would strongly recommend John Nugent & Sons to anyone looking for similar work.

Quick diagnostic. The conclusion was - nothing was wrong, but an old system. The tech seemed to be knowledgeable and fair. At least, we have had nothing bad to say about the tech and the company.

I chose John Nugent & Sons for a combination of price (they weren't the lowest but weren't far off ) and that they used carrier equipment which was slightly more efficient and quieter than the alternatives. Everything went really well, and it was a good experience. The technicians showed on time, they did a good job with the installation, and they didn't leave behind a mess.

The staff is very knowledgeable and courteous. As soon as the technician walked in, he put on his booties and got right to work. He covered the floor as to avoid water from the old heater getting on the floor and I was surprised at how delicate he was in bringing down the new system- did not hit the wall once. He noticed that the piping for our current vent pump was not up to code and replaced it without an additional cost. Also installed proper ball shut off valves, we didn't have previously. I would recommend them.

I have had an HVAC maintenance contract with John Nugent & Sons since April 2009. They remind me when the semi-annual service is due. They call me when they are on their way. They arrive on-time and perform the maintenance professionally. When I had emergency service in July 2015 for my air conditioner, I didn't ask enough questions before the thermostat was replaced. When I reviewed the costs after the service, I contacted the office to dispute the cost. They listened and, more importantly, reduced the bill substantially. I won't forget that customer service and will continue my HVAC maintenance contract with them for years to come.

rI purchased the Angie's Deal for a $79 Seasonal Gas Furnace Tune-Up today. John Nugent called me 30 minutes after I purchase it to set up an appointment. Shawn was in the neighborhood and came over and performed the checkup. He also showed me how to put the two doors back on the unit, as I had problems with it after changing the filter. I commented to the lady who called that it was a nice surprise that she called today. She had checked the customer database and knew I was a regular customer. I was very pleased with the service, and the price was reasonable. Shawn is very personable, and I will definitely ask for him when I schedule and a/c checkup in the spring. He noticed that a water pipe was leaking behind the unit, and advised that I call a plumber before it gets too cold outside. I have also used John Nugent's plumbing services, so I will be calling them next week.

He was fine. I had an issue with the air conditioner and I just needed some kind of opinion and he just briefly looked at it, there were no parts involved or anything. The price was excellent.

This company I would highly recommend. They were extremely prompt, professional ,punctual, and extremely courteous. The representatives from John Nugent and Sons that I dealt with this time and have in the past have been the consummate professionals, on every occasion. We needed a water heater immediately, called John Nugent and Sons and within days they were at our house as promised, installing our new gas water heater. The servicemen were professional, courteous, friendly and knowledgeable. The price was competitive. We have tricky stairs so it was not an easy job just getting the water heater upstairs to where it was to be installed. The install went flawlessly! We highly recommend John Nugent & Sons.

Recommended various expensive measures that were not necessary (including buying new AC unit). Had another company come out and they addressed the problem while recommending a solution that cost a fraction of the proposal by John Nugent & Sons. Would not recommend them.

I have had several issues (HVAC and electrical) in my condo tackled by John Nugent & Sons Inc.I was afraid the last repair on my shower was going to cost an arm and a leg due to the severity of the problem,but they sent out a plumber asap to address the issue at hand and his pricing was fair and honest. The plumber took the time to explain to me(this being my first plumbing repair) exactly what the source of the issue was and what needed to be done to correct the problem. What I thought was going to be a big mess turned into something that was addressed and fixed the same day. Whenever you call into the office the staff is polite,kind, and extremely helpful. I recommend them to all my neighbors and friends.

John Nugent and Sons Inc is our go to for everything from plumbing, to HVAC and electrical. We have had all departments out at both of our properties and could not be happier. Polite, respectful, honest, and fair, they take pride in their work and make sure the job is done right. We are big supporters of local business and we are treated like family every time we call in. I recommend them to family and friends all the time.

Nick arrived quicker than expected. He identified the source of the leak within minutes and fixed the problem. The price for the after hours visit and the work was reasonable and well worth it. John Nugent's quick response saved us from more serious water damage. Nick was nice, very professional, and worked quickly. He also helpfully recommended that we call ServPro that night to pull up the laminate floor in the basement that was damaged and set up fans/dehumidifiers to prevent mold. We followed up on his suggestion, and ServPro was at our house by 11:30pm. The next time we have a plumping problem we will definitely be calling John Nugent and asking for Nick. Great service, great price, and the quick response prevented a problem from becoming a disaster.

The technician arrived promptly at 8, diagnosed the problem, and left. I appreciated the promptness.

We have two HVAC systems in our three-story townhouse; the upstairs unit is a small auxiliary unit in the attic. The workers had to go through a small opening in an upstairs closet and remove the moulding around the opening to get the old equipment out and the new equipment in. But they did a great job quickly and cleaned up very nicely. They were also very respectful and professional. I will definitely call them again if I need to.

Every aspect of this significant home improving project was excellent. Mike Jackson, the salesman, gave me a quick overview on everything that needed to be done and helped inform me on what to look for when interviewing other contractors. He was prompt in provided a detailed contract proposal at a very fair price. The technician, Chad was equally as professional and spent a good amount of time making sure that the plans he drew would create a smooth transition from my 1969 original furnace to a new state of the art system. Within days, the technicians came and expertly removed the old systems and reworked the ducts. I was very pleased with how the project progressed. They were quality people who were punctual, worked with exacting care, answered all of my questions and completed the job way beyond my expectations. The end result and craftsmanship was so perfect I could hardly believe it. This is a company that should be on your short list. They delivered a " best fit system" at a very fair price (no high pressure sales, no unnecessary upgrades, what was best for me and my house). They were easy to get ahold of, completed the job on time, and at exactly the price they proposed. This may be the best contractor I have ever had the pleasure to work with.

I waited a few months to post this so that I would temper my review. I had a 15 year old system and viewed this as a major expenditure of my household. I received numerous bids and while Nugent and Sons was not the least expensive I felt they had the knowledge and customer service to make up for that added expense. I am a single mother and have done a number of home renovations and this was by far one of the worst experiences I have encountered. The initial installation proceeded well. But i had a few issues after the install which required attention and the customer service went from decent to abysmal pretty quickly. The service techs were very nice and accommodating however, anyone above that level - the on-site supervisor, the service manager, etc were rude, belittling and discourteous. I think every buyer needs to be aware that sales people (regardless of which company it is) are essentially there to sell you their product and once it is installed they have very little interest in helping you. The good news is that after several service visits the units finally do work well and hopefully all the bugs have been worked out. Again, the service technicians have been extremely helpful. However, I do think I overpaid and with all of the customer service problems that I encountered I can not in good conscience recommend them for anything above service visits. If I have to make a recommendation to the company I would suggest that they get some women on their customer service team.

Timely service. No upsell. We have used them before with good success (repaired furnace several years ago and then replaced a furnace this winter when it was too far gone). Very timely repair during busy season. I was out of town and was able to schedule appointment for same day.

Fortunately, the issue wasn?t that bad. They were able to fix the issue without costing me thousands of dollars.

I called about mold forming on my ceiling and they were able to come out that afternoon to take a look. They found a pinhole leak in a copper pipe and removed about 6 inches of pipe and replaced with new pipe. He showed me the cost before doing the work, and although I thought it was very high, I agreed and they did the work. After talking to others and reading reviews from other clients with similar plumbing issues, is does in fact seem that I was charged quite a lot for this repair. I'm not sure why, but I will definitely consider other companies for future plumbing problems.
