John Nugent & Sons, Inc. is highly recommended for this detailed job. They were in and out of my home in a few days. The work they performed was above the board - they were spotless - did not leave a trace behind them - and having my home cooled over the summer was a major accomplishment. I would highly recommend this firm for any electrical or plumbing work needed. They went beyond the call of duty and I will forever be thankful for their job well done.
Description of Work: John Nugent & Sons Inc. installed HVAC in my 70 year old home
They were supposed to arrive between 12 and 4 they arrived at 430 were in a hurry and I never got the estimates that the electrician was supposed to send me. Additionally the plumber who was also supposed to be there never showed up. Will not hire again
Description of Work: Light post replaced, exhaust fans installed in bathrooms and a an issue with sump pump
The inspection went well until we told the electrician we were having a presale inspection done the following day. Upon hearing this, the electrician suddenly realized he had "missed" several things, which ultimately needed repair.
Description of Work: We had a whole house inspection that resulted in several outlets being replaced. We also had two light switches fixed.

The price is a little higher then other bids when we had them install the system but their reputation far out weighed it. The quality was worth the price. They did an excellent job of replacing an old system and they were very thoughtful in their approach, did not over promise and came back when they needed to change some things to the plan.
Description of Work: I used John Nugent & Sons Inc for routine maintenance and inspection. They come and inspect twice a year.

J. Nugent and Sons is a very well run company... from the office staff to their skilled technicians. Chad took the time to explain how the new system would work as we were switching from an ac unit to a heat pump. They showed up on time. Completed the work in exactly the time speficied. Left the job site clean. And most importantly the heat pump is working great. We highly recommend them to anyone looking to replace their HVAC system. They also worked magic reinstalling hard duct to correct a mess that a prior contractor had left us with. They did an awesome job!
Description of Work: Installed a new heat pump and oil furnace. We also asked them to clean up/replace/reroute poorly installed duct work that had been left by a prior remodeling company we had hired.

Excellent. They offered three options, all of which were priced less than the other 2 companies we sought quotes from. They were able to install the new AC within 2 days, much to our relief. The other companies said they could not do the work until the following week. Very pleased with the quality of the AC and the work.

I requested a routine service call on Saturday morning and company had a professional at my house within 60-75 minutes. Shawn arrived at the time promised and called en route to let me know he was on the way. He explained what he was going to do and then did it. Shawn was friendly, focused and respectful, and no mess was left behind. No issues, no complaints. Very positive experience.

I obtained three estimates from A-rated companies in Angie's List. Nugent didn't have the absolute lowest price of the three, but they were close, and I felt they were offering the best value (equipment, installation, warranty, follow-up service). Nugent had been maintaining my old heat pump for many years, and I've been pleased with their service. Mike (the salesperson) didn't try to sell me more than I needed. My townhouse is connected to neighbors on both sides, and it has fairly new windows and doors; my electricity bills have always been quite reasonable. I went with a Carrier 14-SEER heat pump (outside) and air handler (inside). I also got a new Honeywell wifi-enabled thermostat. Because the new system uses a different refrigerant from my old system, it would be necessary to install a new line set (copper pipes) between the outside and inside units. This involved cutting some holes in the basement ceiling in order to run the line in the same space as the old line. The installation team (Isaac, Ruben, Jose, Steve) did an excellent job. They also connected my existing whole-house humidifier to the new system. Because of the challenge of installing the line set, it looked like the installation would take more than one day, but the fourth technician was dispatched to my house in the afternoon, and the job was finished in a day (approximately 11 hours). The new system is much quieter than my old one, and the house is now wonderfully cool.
Description of Work: I needed to replace my 15-year-old heat pump, which was no longer performing well and required too much maintenance.

It's been a hot summer in the Northern Virginia area for 2016. The cooling ability of my 13-year old heat pump unit had been struggling recently to keep temperatures in the house at a comfortable level. I was able to grit my teeth and bear it for a couple of weeks, but finally made the decision to have a professional take a look at it. First off, I generally dislike having to pay for any sort of service. I like to think I'm a handy guy--I fix my own car problems (and those of friends); I do all the home improvement things like toilets, water heaters, tiling, painting, etc.. Basically, I don't like paying people to do things I think I should be able to do myself--but unfortunately HVAC isn't one of those things. I called John Nugent & Sons and had them come out and perform a check on my system. Todd, a professional looking, well-spoken tech showed up at my door and soon after confirmed my fears--my outside compressor unit was failing. I spoke to the tech about my options and he gave me his opinion, but said he'd have to get me in touch with their guy that handles sales. Fair enough, I wouldn't expect the tech to handle sales. Fortunately, their sales guy was in the area and within an hour, he was at my front doorstep. Remember earlier when I said I don't like paying someone for services? Well, I dislike salespeople even more. I despise getting a "hard sale" pitch from a sales person. I was getting myself all psyched up for this battle I was going to have with him (Carl is his name)--all the back and forth, haggling, slick talking tactics.... He totally through me off. He asked me two questions: How long do you plan to stay in the house, and have you been comfortable with your old unit (when it was working)? I told him a plan to stay for several more years, and yes I was happy with my old unit. "Well", he said, "I think our basic model is just perfect for you." Wait a second, where was the sales pitch for the super-ultra-duty efficient unit? How about the thermostat with WiFi and bluetooth? What about the infinite variable speed fan that can increase life expectancy of my children? Nope, didn't get any of that. 20 minutes from the time he walked in my door we had agreed on the unit I wanted and the price. Speaking of the price, heat pumps aren't cheap--there are just varying degrees of expensiveness. I had an idea of what the unit was going to cost and Carl's quote matched it almost exactly. Carl got me in contact with their person in charge of scheduling installs and two days later John Nugent & Sons were back at my house installing my new unit. RJ (another polite professional dude) was the guy running the show during the install. He went over with me what they were going to do, asked if I had any questions or concerns and then they got to work. For the most part, I tried to stay out of their way, but kept poking my nose into their business asking all sorts of questions. Every tech I spoke to was professional, courteous, knowledgeable and answered all my questions. At one point, I was watching one of the guys putting down the pad outside for the new compressor unit to sit on and watching him dig, lay down crushed stone, dig more, tamp the ground, check the level, tamp more--all to make sure the pad was solid and level. I made a comment to him that one of the things that really bugs me is seeing someone's outside heat pump unit sitting crooked and leaning. He responded that the unit operates better if level, but then added, "Plus, if you're going to do something, take pride in your work and make it look good. At Nugent, we work from the heart." He was serious about the "work from the heart" part--he wasn't joking. Yeah baby! I knew at this point I chose the right guys to install my heat pump! About 6 hours later, I had a brand new heat pump unit (inside and outside unit) pumping out cold air. The inside unit is actually a few inches narrower than the old unit, and they made sure to position it such that I had more access to the water pressure reducer valve and sewer clean out pipe that was partially blocked by the old unit. Nice focus on the customer. When everything was done, RJ did a walk-thru with me, showing the features of the system and making sure I was comfortable with everything. They did a great job cleaning up their work area and left me to ogle over my shiny new heat pump. I was very impressed with John Nugent & Sons. They are knowledgeable, customer focused, and reasonably priced. I plan to use them for any future HVAC needs (they do plumbing and electrical work, too) and I wouldn't hesitate a second to recommend them to friends or family.
