The technician was very friendly and polite. He arrived at the scheduled time and left the premises as he found them.

We had our furnace blower motor stop working in the middle of the summer. This was important because the AC ran through the blower motor to the rest of the house. Since they weren't able to replace the furnace for a few weeks, but they installed a new blower motor (free of charge) and let us keep that in place until they were able to replace the entire unit. This was greatly appreciated and I would recommend them to everyone that I know.

Very responsive, very helpful clear in explaining the issues. I would say this organization was worth including in your review for quotes etc. before deciding. We did decide to go with another group in the end.

Excellent service. I would hire again in a heartbeat. High quality, very clean, no damage to the walls, efficient, customer-centric, and prompt. The electrician also answered several questions about other electrical issues in the home (new home purchase), and easily fixed one mis-aligned switch.

Reported by my Dad. 1012 North Jefferson Street, Arlington, Virginia: Because of their previous work I asked John Nugent & Sons, especially Mitch Thompson, to perform additional plumbing work. The work involved breaking up and removal concrete laundry tub, installing new sink and faucet, running new copper piping for laundry sink and washing machine, installing boiler drains at washing machine and installing drain line for washing machine. Mitch Thompson called before appointment to inform me of his ETA. Again, he was friendly and outgoing, a pleasure to talk with. He described how he would repair the problems and invited me (if I wanted) to stay and watch and to ask questions during his effort. I tried not to be a nuance but that did not matter to him. Mitch’s work was quick, clean/neat, fairly priced, and gave the plumbing the latest (my house is 60 years old) up-to-date look. His configuration of the new piping made the plumbing simple and efficient. I highly recommend John Nugent & Sons and especially Mitch Thompson. I will contact them for any future plumbing needs.

The scheduler in the Nugent home office was very friendly and very efficient, asking several questions about our system. She sent Jason Yim, an HVAC technician, out to see us the same day. Jason was thorough, inspecting our thermostat, outside compressor unit, and inside air handler and emergency heat unit. When he completed the inspection, he sat down with us and described the various options for either temporary repairs or permanent replacement of the system. Jason answered our questions completely, and when we chose to replace, wrote a clear proposal for us to examine and sign. The Nugent home office called the following day to schedule an installation tech to mesaure and check on our electrical system. Steve Portillo was on time, thoroughly professional, and has a great sense of humor. He explained what the installation team would do, in roughly what order, and answered several questions clearly and completely. The following day, the installation team of Tuong Nguyen, Sergio, and Luis, arrived promptly at 7:00 AM, and labored through the morning, removing and taking away our old system and installing a new Carrier system and Honeywell thermostat. They took pains to cover their work boots and lay drop cloths down whenever they needed to move equipment or tools from the outside to the inside. They completed the work in the early afternoon, and cleaned up thoroughly. Tuong explained the features of the system and summarized the instructions in the manual for the thermostat. Our new Carrier heat pump system and thermostat are working flawlessly, thanks to the fine organizational work of John Nugent & Sons, and the skill of their service techs. We would recommend them to anyone who needs their HVAC system serviced or maintained.

Jason did a great job. He had been the tech on my semi-annual heating / AC inspection and determined that one of the furnace dampers was locked in place - hard to tell if it was open or closed. He returned a week or so later to remove the old damper (which was closed and immovable) and put in a new one. What a difference in heat distribution. I would recommend Jason and Nugent to friends and neighbors.

Well, they checked all the circuits.

The technician was friendly, professional, and efficient. He noted quickly that the system operates differently than I thought, so I hadn't turned it on properly. He showed me how to turn it on, and explained parts of the system that might cause any issues in the future. He then inspected the rest of the system to make sure it was working properly. The only problem was that he showed up after the time window I was originally given. The dispatcher called me to let me know, but that was well after I had already left work early to meet the technician. I think they did their best to meet my schedule, but a firmer appointment time would have been helpful. Overall, I was very pleased with the service and will probably use them in the future.

The man installed a new carrier heat pump. I gave them an A all the way because they promised to come between 7:00 to 9:00, and they were here 7:01.

Wonderful. Naturally, it was the first morning after a cold snap so no one from our last HVAC repair group was able to come. John Nugent and Sons really came through and got here within HOURS. Jason Yim, the HVAC tech, was polite, knowledgeable, and fast - a true professional who fixed us up in no time flat. I'm writing this review in my once again toasty home. Thanks John Nugent and Sons (and Jason)!

My Dad called John Nugent & Sons to repair a basement pipe leak, a main water valve shut-off, and a bathroom sink problem. The dispatcher was courteous and arranged for a technician to arrive between 10AM and 2PM. Mitch Thompson arrived at 11AM. He was friendly and outgoing, a pleasure to talk with. After reviewing the problems, he described how he would repair the problems and invited me (if I wanted) to stay and watch and to ask questions during his effort. I tried not to be a nuance but that did not matter to him. One of the items proved to be difficult, but he seemed to enjoy the challenge of solving arising problems. Mitch's work was quick, clean/neat, fairly priced, and gave the plumbing the latest (my house is 60 years old) up-to-date look. I asked Mitch about some additional extensive plumbing work that I needed done. He gave me, what I thought, to be a fairly inexpensive price. I signed the proposal and made a down payment before he left.

UPDATE: Within 48 hours of posting this review, an executive from John Nugent and Sons called to tell me that the price quoted me was in error and that it should have been closer to $650. He apologized for the error and the inconvenience it caused and offered to refund the $95 visit charge. An grossly inflated estimate represents a concerning lapse in business processes. He provided his personal contact information and asked me to reconsider John Nugent and Sons for home repair work in the future. It is good customer service to reach out to disappointed customers, but the sage advice, "trust, but verify" is certainly relevant here. I'll update with additional info when/if i get it. _________________ The plumbers arrived at about 3 o'clock within the 12 to 4 o'clock window in which they promised to arrive. They inspected the site of the leak and the associated plumbing over the course of 6-7 minutes. They then spent 10 minutes preparing the cost of the work proposed. The staff returned with an estimate of $846 for replacing a <$100 valve and 90 minutes of labor (the 90 minute estimate was provided by the lead plumber himself). When confronted with the fact that this amounted to a $430/hr labor charge (I've deducted the cost of the valve and service call charge) the plumber shrugged his shoulders and replied, "we don't charge by the hour, we charge by the job." So $95 for 7 min of a plumber's time. 25 minutes and two phone calls later to Angie's List providers and found competent service persons to come to the house for <$500. I must be honest and say that it felt like John Nugent's staff made the calculation that on a Saturday late afternoon, with our home now in its 20th hour without water, that we would accept such a clearly exorbitant cost proposal. Shame on you John Nugent and Sons. Shame on you. You've traded short term gain for the goodwill of homeowners like myself and squandered the opportunity to have an steady ongoing customer for you business. Now, you have forced me to assume this sort of practice extends to your other services and compelled me to bring my experience up whenever the neighborhood talk turns to the need for home services. Live and learn. I hope you will profit from my experience.

Nugent is always responsive, thorough, and professional. My only beef is that they switched to a fixed price menu for services performed. I like the simplicity, and the absence of that "clock is ticking" tension, but that's been replaced by the tension of knowing you're paying a huge premium. On an hourly basis, it always works out to be outrageously high. In this circumstance, what we needed was to reseat a toilet. He was here for a total of 45 minutes and the job cost $350.

Plumber showed up same day which was really nice (non-emergency). They replaced my old water heater and added in an expansion tank and overflow pan. Additionally, they found that my pressure relief valve was faulty and replaced that. They warranty the work for 6 years which seemed to be standard.

Extremely well. The company is very responsive. This is my second time using them.

The contractor cut into my dry wall looking for the leak and never could find the source and still charged me for the service call. Then, he provided an estimate of $422.25 to install a faucet. I passed on this because of the high price and later hired a different plumber who completed the faucet installation for $150.00

Fine but a bit slow. He sat in his truck for 15 min (in our driveway), worked quietly for 30 min, asked me for thermostat, another 30 min with heat, and another 15 min to write up ticket. An hour & half for what normally takes 30 mins. I guess it would not be annoying except I was trying to make myself available and was not getting ready for work.....but perhaps he was just being thorough. *shrug* We like the annual maintenance contract and will continue.

They came on time for the quote, were very through, and explained clearly what they would do.

I was told $95 service charge to come out plus repair cost. If repair same time $95 will be waived. The plumber initial said nothing was wrong. 10 minutes later he puts 2 new valves without providing the cost and detects another leak and ask to get it fixed. I asked him how much for additional repair and he comes up with $420 for the valve plus $391 for additiobal repair. I ended paying $378 with 10% dicount to replace 2 valves. In addition they did not cover this shoes and left dirt marked all over the house. I expected all technician to respect others cleanliness. So disappointed with their service and professionalism.

Technician looked at it, but didn't do anything but check the electricity / voltage. Said they would have to replace the entire unit, which would cost $600. I had another electrician look at it; he pulled the unit down from the ceiling and cleaned it - it worked like new.

Things have consistently gone well. Nugent employees have been professional, punctual (phoning to give an estimated time of arrival within the window scheduled by the main office), pleasant and considerate. Charges have been reasonable. We signed a service agreement for the HVAC, which also has entitled us to a 10% discount on almost all,other services/repairs. The most recent service was the installation of the attic fan which included not only the services of a Nugent electrician but also a contract roofer.

Technician completed his repair well and quickly. Unfortunately Plumbing Companies charge TOO Much for repair work!! I sure as **** do not get paid that much for One Hours work....
