They take care of my sprinkler system.  They are okay.  Winterization is a simple job, so I don't have much comment besides they came over and did the job.  I would suggest others to use them.  I wasn't there at home, so I really didn't interact with them.

Overall, Hydro-Tech deserves a very good rating.  As stated above with the exception of the knocking sound in the system and the pricing increases, which in this day should probably be expected, we are pretty satisfied with the work Hydro-Tech has provided. 

They've always given us good service although I think they're kind of pricey. They're usually fine and I haven't had any problems with their punctuality or their professionalism. I do have kind of a little conflict with them at the moment because someone called in for service at a property I own, but I wasn't the person who called. They went over and serviced it based on somebody else that I don't know. They're billing me for it and I didn't ask for the service. I thought it would've been taken care of, but it honestly haven't and I'm not sure where we stand at the moment.

We got off to a rocky start because the first salesman was a problem for me. First, he had someone call 10 min before his scheduled appt. to cancel. The next appt he made and it was fine, but he never called back or sent an estimate and I was never told by the company why that happened although they apologized. But I have never heard back from that salesman to this day. There may be a reasonable explanation but I never got it.
Because the company had received so many excellent comments, I decided to let them send another saleman. Everything from that point on was fine and I would say was excellent. The next salesman was knowledgable and gave a timely reply. The team that came to put in the system was extremely good to work with. I watched them closely and found them to be deligent and professional in every way. It was clear to me from watching them that they knew there jobs.
Aside from the first saleman (and I understand that most people would have not given them a second chance), every aspect of my contact with the company was excellent. The C for responsiveness and overall B experience is due to the first salesman. I guess that makes me a kind soul!

I rated this company as a "B" because the design of the system caused flooding in one spot.  We had to bring this problem to their attention.  They willingly changed out some heads but we won't know if the system is watering correctly  until next spring.  I would have expected them to notice this problem.  Knowing that we had a difficult area, we should have requested an irrigation plan before they started to dig.  It might have brought up the flooding problem.

overall experience was very very  good.  they arrived literally before 8am and were ready to go.  i felt bad bc the day before was around 70 degrees and unfortunately this day was cold and windy.  nonetheless, they banged through the job and i how have a state of the art sprinkler system.  very high quality materials, the control box is super easy to use, they did a good job expl to me and even gave us a DVD.  i was a tad worried as around noon i peered outside and my lawn looked like a war zone but they did a good job putting everything back together.  before they left, they tested the sysem and cleaned up, even washing my driveway down.  Andrew the owner does a real good job communicating and is very prompt in his emails/ calls back to you.  these guys must be good, as they have won some serious business around the reston/ herndon area and I can see why.  cheers

They were fine. I had an old system there is always stuff to need to be done.

 All work was performed as planned. Crew completed work in one day. Minor sprinler head adjustments and system winterization completed as scheduled. They were a little pricer compared to the two other competitors I received quotes from, but do provide a responsive and professional service.

Hydro-Tech of Maryland had done a great job installing a 21 zone system on my weekend house so I decided to hire them a second time - and I wasn't disappointed.  They showed up on time, did a great job, and cleaned up well.  The workers were courteous and professional and the company was committed to my satisfaction.

The technician was very very helpful.  He explained what he was doing and why it was important.  He explained other services I should consider and I was impressed to enough to buy a service contract.  Good experience with these guys

To make a long story short, later in the day of course the machinery broke two water lines and severed 2 wires, both of which were not in expected locations from the diagram we had.  By examining the control box, we determined that at least one of the wires was the main power for the valves for the whole system.  We were concerned because this wire crossed the path of the French drain, which would be filled in with gravel.
em. I called Hydrotech, explained the situation, and asked that someone come out and advise the contractor to how to proceed with respect to exposing/capping  water lines, and with respect to the wiring, which was what I had asked for in the first place.  Hydrotech wanted the landscaping job to be finished (which would bury the ends of the wires and the water lines), then they would come out and dig up everything they needed to repair the system, which would be destructive to the hardscaping and very expensive.  I only talked to the receptionist, I never talked to the manager or even the technician who had been there.  I and my contractor found the entire interaction unsatisfactory and unprofessional.   Hydrotech eventually scheduled an appointment for the technician to come out  the afternoon the landscaping was to be completed and "evaluate" what had to be done (which probably could not be done without digging, since the entire area would be filled in and hardscaped by then).
I found another Irrigation company in Frederick, who put me through to the president of the company.  He came out the same day, evaluated the system, will send out a technician to reconnect the wiring and cap the plumbing before the hardscaping is begun, and talked to the contractor about how they would complete the irrigation retrofitting without disturbing the hardscaping.  It took approximately 30 minutes   This is what Hydrotech should have done.  I am changing my regular servicing to the second company,(whom I will name and review after they have completed the work).

I decided to have an irrigation system installed after seeing my sod wilt because I had no time to water it.  A few days before the
system was installed, a plumber installed a backflow preventer, which was a separate cost of $2,000 not included in the above amount. On October 9th, Hydro-Tech Irrigation installed an irrigation system with solenoid valves and 7 watering zones with multiple rotors and rotating spray heads. Colorful flags to alert the lawn contractors who were about to aerate my lawn were set up next to each spray head, which lies flat when not watering and rises when watering. They also installed a Pro-C irrigation controller box, and Billy McDonald taught me how to use it after setting the sprayers to water the lawn Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for 20 minutes beginning at 3:00 a.m., a perfect time because the sun isn't shining.  I could never wake up early enough to drag the hose all over the yard before the sun rose to evaporate the water, so this system is like a dream come true. There is no way I could trust an individual to water my lawn as effectively as this system, and who would do it anyway in the dark?
With the irrigation system, my lawn quickly recovered; even the wilted sod is now as healthy and green as it was in the spring.

They arrived on time. They did a good job. I would use them again.

Timely consultation, friendly. & knowledgeable people. Great follow up, hot me on the schedule quickly once I decided to go with them. Hot the job done in 1 day! Fully explained the system to me. Really a great group, I would highly recommend them.

Overall it went fine and did not take very long, which makes me question the high price. They do good work but It could not have taken 15 minutes to complete.

HydroTech was courteous, prompt, and professional from getting a quotation, to installation, to cleanup and testing.  Arrangements for installation were made with our schedule in mind.  Workers were prompt , hardworking, and knowledgeable.  Hydrotech answered questions candidly including answering why different manufacturers were used in different situations.  The answer was right for the owner - better performance and lower maintenance.  The Hunter controller seems relatively simple with tremendous flexibility to vary the watering plan.

We had a great experience working with Billy at Hydro-Tech Irrigation. He was very patient with us and worked with us a great deal making several trips to our house to finalize the design and price for our irrigation system since we were on a tight budget. I think we ended up with six zones which included tubing to water my potted plants on my deck. No more daily waterings! Installation went smoothly and they were able to complete it in one day. We were very pleased overall and we looking forward to working with them in the future.

From the initial estimate to the completion of the project Hydro-Tech was professional, prompt, and thorough. On the day of the installation they arrived on time and completed the job in a single day. So far the system works exactly as intended. I look forward to using our new irrigation system, especially during the hot summer months - no more dragging hoses around the yard!

they are totally great.  Always on time, aggressive price, knowledgable.  And, after the work was done I could not even tell they had put in a sprinkler system.  My garden beds were perfect, as the were prior to them starting the work.  The lawn also looked the same after as before.

I have worked for Hydro Tech Irrigation for over then years so when my wife and i wanted to install sprinklers at our new house we new we wanted Hydro Tech to install it. Even with an employee discount this was going to be a really big investment for us. The crew came out and started at 8 am. I went over what we wanted with the Foreman and bu 3 pm they had the job installed, adjusted and cleaned up. You could hardly tell they had been in the yard. The system worked just the way we had wanted and in five years we have never had a warranty issue. Nearly every man on that crew still works at Hydro Tech Irrigation and  several of them are now foreman themselves.I not only believe in our work but have it at my own  house too.

We had a challenging project, as we did a complete tear-out of our old landscaping, for all new.  It was a slow, tedious process, given its scope.  The irrigation portion of the project was seamless, and thanks to Rick?s creativity and customer centric focus, we were able to put split the irrigation installation into two parts, which enabled us to use the system on the completed part of the landscape project, while our landscaper continued his work on the remainder of the project.  As a result, the first part of our project is well established and looking beautiful.

From estimate to final completion, it was a pleasure to deal with Rick Clelan. He patiently answered all my questions, came back for a second look and made sure I understood the proposed system.

Billy came to our home to discuss our needs.  A reasonable quote was given.  Workmen came to install the system.  Billy returned, same day to oversee what had been done, tweaking just a few things before walking us through the system.  We appreciated his willingness to answer any questions as worked through introducing us to everything.

First of all, I checked a bunch of other companies first. Hydro-tech used the best materials and offered the work at the best price. In addition, they gave me about 700 references (names, addresses and phone numbers) and said, "Call any that you wish." I did call some people and everyone gave an excellent report on the work done. That was impressive. They did everything they said they would and more. They were on time, clean, competent. The system works. I have recommeded them to other people.

My controller was replacedby Hydro-Tech last spring but has experienced intermittent problems throughout the
summer. I contacted Hydro-Tech but the problem was dismissed after the Tech
inspected the controller. I subsequently contacted the manufacturer and after a
lengthy conversation discovered the problem. I then contacted Hydro-Tech and
discussed my findings. To their credit, a Tech was dispatched the next day and
I believe fixed the problem.
