I carefully read and compared company reviews and have had several home inspections over the years, so I expected a quality inspection from HomeKey but even going into it with high expectations I was still surprised and impressed with the thoroughness and conscientiousness of the inspection. My inspector was Mike, and the home is an older one owned by an elderly person so there were many issues to evaluate. The inspection took much longer than the average amount of time and the report was much longer and required much more work to produce, but there wasn't the slightest hint of rushing any of it or skimping at all. I myself suggested the roof could be skipped because I was worried moss had made it slippery and figured it was surely pretty much gone anyway, but Mike bravely went up there, made sure it was safe, then took a good long while in the heat and returned with photos and an issue that requires immediate attention. Likewise, I was surprised at the willingness to enter a very cramped dirt floor crawl space and proceed around the entire foundation... out of sight into the nether reaches... but I have photographic proof! Those are just two examples out of many, but from under the floors to over the ceilings in attic spaces accessible only through ceiling hatches, Mike examined every detail, took photos, and carefully documented the entire process which resulted in a long, thorough and informative report that will make the purchase decision better informed and provide structure for repair decisions. The price of the service was pretty much the going rate, and thus reasonable. I don't see much spread in the pricing of home inspections across companies, so I would feel cautious of any company that deviated by much. The difference in value for your cost would then be the quality of the inspection. Honestly, the cost of HomeKey's inspection could have been higher and would still have been well worth it for the care, time spent, the information provided, and for the assurance having a trained eye on things can give you.

I am delighted with the service that I received from HomeKey. They are the most thorough of any inspection services that I’ve ever had. They found a small gas leak in the furnace that even the plumber had trouble locating when he knew what to look for. I saved much more on my purchase from negotiating from a position of strength than the cost of their inspections, not to mention the peace of mind.

I worked with Sebastian who did the home inspection and Ian who did the Sewer Line Inspection. They were both personable and excellent. Extremely thorough. Even pointed out things that I didn't think were a bid deal even though they were technically minor code violations. I left the home inspection knowing exactly what I was getting myself into and now I have a list of prioritized projects that I can work over time. HomeKey Inspection helped me with a thorough inspection of a property I am planning to purchase. Sebastian, my home inspector was professional, knowledgeable, and incredibly patient and helpful with my millions of questions. Due to some of the findings from the initial inspection I opt’d to do an additional more thorough inspection of the fireplace in the house. Jenn was able to get the additional contractor out to the house within 1 hour. The reports were provided in the promised time and were extremely thorough and very helpful in determining what was really an issue and what I could live with. In addition, the technology they use was makes it very easy to view , share and compile an ask list in the end. I have worked with several different home inspection companies in the past and hands down this is the best one out there.
