They are honest. They started out with 1 location and now they have expanded with 4 or 5 locations.

Curry's had performed a major service on another vehicle well and at a reasonable price, so I took my son's truck to them when his steering had problems and needed a state inspection. After diagnosing the problem as leaking hoses (reasonable as the truck is a 2002), they told me the cost was over $500. They said the hoses themselves only cost $50 and labor was the major factor. Thankfully I know a little about car repair and told them that was ridiculous and re-check their price. Meanwhile I asked a couple other shops for an estimate (~$300). Curry's called back and dropped their price to $250 and said it was a mix-up.
During my first call with them, they said my brake pads and rotors were a little worn, but would pass inspection. Later the Service Mgr called to say my brakes and rotors were both too thin to pass inspection, when I pushed back based on the first conversation, he stated his inspector said they would not pass and the first guy shouldn't have told me that. He said he would install the brakes and rotors for just parts cost (no labor charge). I agreed as long as they provided me with the old parts afterwards.
When I arrived to pick up the truck, I asked to see the parts. Of course they hadn't put them aside for me. The Mgr wasn't able to find the pads, but he found the rotors. I had the mechanic measure the thickness and we all looked at the specs. Surprise! - they were well within the legal guidelines. I told the Mgr it was complete BS and that he lied to me. He never took ownership and tried to pass it off on one of the mechanics. He did remove the rotors from the bill.
Bottom Line: the mechanics are competent and do a good job as long as you clearly define what is to be done and nothing more. However, the Service Managers will try to take advantage of you as much as they can.

They were excellent! They normally service performance oriented vehicles, but they did an excellent job on my Subaru! It was one of the best service oriented experiences—not necessarily price though. They are far away from me which makes in inconvenient for me so I tend to look more locally. Currys could look into getting a shuttle for convenience purposes although I'm not sure if the capital expense makes sense with what their general clientele.

Have used Curry's several times. Accurate diagnostics and job is done when promised. Prices are higher than some others in the area, but they do a good job.

They fixed the air condition, and put dye in the sytsem, which identified another leak, and another costly repair. I have no reason to believe that the first or second repair was unnecessary, so I will give them the benefit of the doubt, although I am concerned they were to identify one leak without dye, but required dye for another leak, but A/C systems are not my area of expertise.
However, the real dissapoint was their recommendations as a result of their inspection. I was told that my rear brake pads needed to be changed and on a scale of 1-10 they were a "1". I was also told that my brake fluid needed to be changed "based upon the condition of the fluid."
I took the car home at that point without further discussion and promptly measured the brake pad thickness. My rear pads measured 4-5 mm, which is certainly getting low, but the manufacturer's limit is 1.6 mm. I'm guessing another 10,000 miles on the rear pads based upon the current life, which shouldn't be a "1" on a 1-10 scale.
The most troubling part was the brake fluid. I had recently done a full brake fluid flush, so the fluid was just about brand new. Not only that, but as the only fluid I had on hand when I did my fluid change was a specialized racing fluid, which is blue, it doesn't look like any other fluid out there. As Curry's works on many track cars I'm certain (and they later admitted) they were very familiar with this blue fluid, and certainly would have commented on it had they actually checked it. It still was completely new looking.
I went back to Curry's and to their credit, they remeasured the brake pads, and agreed with my measurements, and looked at the fluid and agreed it was fine, and apologized for the mistakes they made. While I appreciate the apologies, I feel like they are recommending things that aren't needed, and would be taken advantage of me if I wasn't more informed. Particulary reccomending a brake fluid replacement, when it was obvious they hadn't even checked it.

My name is Mark, and I am the husband to your member: Lupe R. Guerrero.
My 2004 Diamante "check engine" light had stayed on, for several days. On the recommendation of a friend, I took the car to an Autozone auto parts store, who ran a free test on my car computer, and determined the problem as :malfunctioning the oxygen sensor, left upstream; and recommended it to be replaced, for a total price of about $140.00.
I went on the internet, and found the parts from reputable companies, to be about $60-90.
Then I shared these informations with my wife, who stressed her faith in the car service shops which were blessed by the Angie's list. The closest service store to us was the Curry's, at the Dulles Town Center. So I went there today, and explaind to them the problem diagnosed by the Autozone, and the price range for the part, from the internet.
The nice young man at the reception desk, explained that in order for them to do any repair, they themself would have to perform the test, and make the diagnosis. This is quite logical, but I asked what if it confirms the Autozone's diagnosis. He said, in any event, if I decide to have them do the necessary repair, they will apply the cost of testing against my total charge: in other words, they will not charge me for the testing, even though I will have to pay THEIR SHOP'S fee, if they are the shop who would do the work. Then I asked about the price of the part: the sensor. He said the it will cost me about $240, and the fact that my internet search had revealed a price range one third to one fourth of his price, did not change his quote.
At this point, I was frustrated at the unreasonableness of the price, but since I had to have the engine repaired, I reluctantly allowed the repair. The total, according to my research, was easily three times of a sensible cost.
I remain to hear from you,
Thank you,

They gave my truck a thorough inspection and were able to identify and make a lot of repairs I needed. The staff is extremely professional and friendly and my whole experience with this company gave me a lot of confidence in them. I plan to use them again going forward and would recommend them to anyone.

It was typical Curry's outstanding service. I had work done in March, which included replacing the distributor. My car wouldn't start, and I had it towed to Curry's. They determined that the distributor was faulty, and replaced it under warranty.
Curry's has been servicing my car(s) since 1998. I started going to them for a second opinion after a dealer told me that I needed a new carburetor. I didn't need a new one. When I started going to them they had one shop, in Chantilly, VA. Now they have 9. With my previous car they told me not to put more money into it. My current car is old, with very low mileage. I trust them to tell me when it's time to get rid of it. They stand by their work, are honest, and I highly recommend them.

You know it's never good when the technician comes out and says "Mr. X" please follow me I need to show you something ;)
The something he showed me was a 2" missing chunk of the inner tire that NTB in Sterling did when they previously patched the same tire. The tech said he would not put the tire back on the car as it was not safe to use. As the ultra performance tires on my Audi S4 are pretty particular about having matched pairs, I ended up buying 4 new tires (they price matched TireRack) and I kept the 3 summer Contis for later user or sale. Additionally Currys performed a state inspection.
I was very pleased at the speed in which everyone moved to get the replacement tires from the warehouse (it took about 15 minutes), and how quickly they got the old ones off and the new ones mounted, balanced and installed. I haven't seen this sense of urgency out of a auto service organization *ever*.
These guys seem to be a class at and the fact they specialize in German cars is a plus.
They are a little high on tire prices but like I say, if you go in having already shopped for the best price, they will match. As a bonus to the matching, I also got a $70 rebate for the purchase of 4 tires.
The only negative I encountered was the constant BMW talk from the folks that work there - everyone knows Audi builds a superior car!

Great, given that its a car repair. The guys are friendly and explain the problem and the solution in a way that I can understand. They always call when they have found the problem and a cost estimate prior to performing work. They repair only what I have asked them to repair, but will call if they discover something else during the repair. They communicate the repairs that must be done for safety reasons and those that can wait. In this case, the AC and electrical issues were a must.

Made an appointment by phone the day before. Arrived there a bit early. Dealt with Charlie, who was friendly and helpful. They replaced two wiper blades ($8.95 each), but charged no labor, and gave me the safety inspection for free. They suggested some services to be done in the future, per manufacturer's service schedule, but didn't attempt to push any additional or unnecessary services on me. They did the work quickly; it was finished when they said it would be. All in all, very satisfied, I'll be going back.

I Mechanics at Curry's are for the most part competent + but it is a very "slick" operation. You will find them constantly trying to 'sell you' and them finding other things wrong "just in time". Everything they do is calculated.
I believe you can do a lot better for auto repair if honesty and integrity are important to you.

Response from Currys Auto Service Inc - Dulles Town Center
"Member, We are sorry to hear that your experience was less than exemplary, we have searched and the only record we have of you visiting one of our stores was our Chantilly location in April 2007, if this is the situation you are referring to please contact me on [email protected] or 571.522.1006 so we can discuss the matter further. Our intention is always to make sure the customer leaves our store happy with the work we do and we take it every piece of customer feedback whether positive or negative as an important training tool for getting things right every time. I was on a routine oil change and the Honda dealership found to have badly worn ball joint boots. So they recommended replacement as soon as possible. I called curry auto for estimate, they asked that I bring it in for inspection. But it turned out to be normal wear and tear. They showed me underside of car and specific part and explained. They were honest, competent and wonderful to me.

We've been customers of the Curry's in Falls Church for a few years. Recently, we discovered their Dulles shop, which is much closer to our home. The customer service and level of expertise is an A+ at both locations.
We recently purchased a used vehicle for our teenage daughter. We were impulsive and bought it without getting it checked out by Curry's. Our first mistake. We purchased it "as is". It had high mileage, but was very clean. Over the course of the 10 days following our purchase, it broke down three times, leaving our teenage daughter stranded at night.
I called Curry's to ask for advice before I took the vehicle to the dealership for review and repair and hopefully, a discount on the repairs. Bill was the first person I spoke to. He was knowledgeable, sympathetic and helpful. Even though Curry's was not getting the business of the repairs, they talked us through the mechanical issues and offered sound advice. This was EXTREMELY helpful when dealing with the dealership that sold of the vehicle. Bill even called back to see how we made out after the first incident.
For the next two break downs, I dealt with Will, the General Manager. He was always available and helpful. I could not have been more impressed with this shop! Not trusting the dealership with the repairs for the third break down, I took the vehicle to Curry's. They quickly diagnosed and fixed the problem. Also, they checked out the vehicle to look for any other potential problems.
I cannot say enough good things about Curry's in Dulles. They are completely trustworthy, helpful and knowledgeable. This is the only shop we will frequent from now on.
