Bowman's Plumbing Heating AC & Electrical Inc
About us
Bowman's Plumbing, Heating, Air Conditioning, & Electrical Inc. was started in 1989, by Everett Bowman. It was his goal then and our goal now to provide all of our clients with services marked by quality, dependability and value. Everett strove to give every client his personal attention because he valued your business. Almost 30 years later; Bowman's still does business with the very same principles our father lived by: personal attention, quality, trust, and respect. We are family owned and operated still.

"Thank you for your email. However, if you felt the estimate was to high why didn't you call the office to discuss this with us? Once again this site is for consumers to leave a response on how the job was completed. As no work was done for you, I don't understand the rating that was given. Please feel free to contact Bowman's Plumbing if you want any further services. 703-435-5512"
"Thank you for your email. However, there is always two sides to a story and if you really felt the way you do why are we just hearing about your frustration 4 months later here on Angies List? Bowman's provided you with the proper paper work. Sometimes things do happen on jobs that are out of our control but here at Bowman's we strive to make it right. In the future if your not happy you might want to express it right away when work is being done. Thank you for your business! Dana Bowman"
Michael was fantastic and had a great attitude, and I would absolutely use Bowman's again due to their responsiveness, punctuality, quality of work and price.
"Thank you for the kind words. Here at Bowman's we strive for a perfect customer rating. Should you need anything further don't hesitate to call us. Thank You Dana Bowman 703-435-5512"
Eric, was the technician who arrived to fix the problem. He found out that the problem was with NEST thermostat. He replaced NEST with original thermostat which I had kept in store as a backup.
So far so good........
After replacing the thermostat, to my utter surprise, he asked me to pay for the service (about $200). I brought to his attention that company owner has agreed to honour no-price fix for the job as it was still under 1 year full labor/part warranty. This annoyed him. He said that since I replaced the original thermostat, warranty was no longer valid. I said fair enough. If this was the case, he should have informed me before replacing the thermostat because I could have replaced it myself. Replacing the thermostat is a simple task and customers can usually do it by themselves. Also, it was Eric's responsibility to make us aware of any possible cost/charges when he fist time showed up in my home. Now-a-days, It is a common practice by customers to replace the thermostat with more hi-tech ones. And there aren't any reports of any issues with using NEST thermostat with any HVAC system.
So I asked Eric to replace it back to NEST thermostat. But he got completely annoyed. In an apparent angst, he walked down to my HVAC system downstairs and did something there to stop my HVAC system functioning. We heard some sound of opening the HVAC panel door with a force and him slamming the HVAC room door. He then walked out saying " now I have your HVAC non-functional". Call me if you want to fix it.
This whole episode was witnessed by my wife and 9 years old daughter as they were terrified because Eric looked highly confrontational.
After he left, I took a peep into HVAC myself to see what damage he had done. To my terror, he had pulled the wires on motherboard and left them hanging naked. We got really stressed out and scared. In a family with a little kid and during winter time, we were not only without heat but with such a terrible experience by a horrible technician.
I brought his behaviour and UN-professionalism to his company's owner (Steve) attention who promised to look into the problem deeper. But apparently, Eric lied to him and did not produce the facts as they were.
I have the picture of hanging wires out on the motherboard and couple of witnesses from the neighbor whom I told about the incident.
I was not trying to write anything on Angies list thinking why would a company be punished for a really horrible technician. But today, when I asked the company to do their free annual inspection, they simply denied. So very likely, it can be concluded that most of the technicians in the company are highly un-professional and it is NOT a good company to get your work done,
I therefore consider this as my responsibility to bring their act to anyone who is looking to get their job done by Bowman Heating and AC in sterling VA. They have given me and family a horrible experience.
I wish the same is not repeated with anyone else. BE CAREFUL !
"We responded to your call for no heat in November 2014. After the tech inspected your system he found the NEST thermostat that YOU installed wasn't functioning properly. Tech offered to fix the malfunctioning thermostat that YOU installed. As YOU installed the NEST thermostat incorrectly, the charge for that repair would not be covered by the manufacturer warranty due to YOU installing a non manufacturer product. Warranty covers American Standard products only NOT homeowner installations. Regarding your free inspection, the time frame has expired, but if you call the office we will be happy to send a tech to perform the inspection. Thank you, Bowman's Heating & A/C, Inc,"
They were very flexible scheduling the follow up around our availability. They came back and, despite running into unforeseen problems behind our walls, they installed the circuits promptly and without increasing the cost. In fact, they gave us a discount.
They were very pleasant to deal with, and they explained everything very clearly.
Tom, the plumber came to the house on Friday evening at 6:30, which was great and so helpful. I have used their services before and really appreciated the fact that they were able to come work on this job after they finished another one nearby. The leak needed to be repaired before it got worse so I was really happy that they fit me into their schedule.
A few days before the appointment I sent the Bowman company a photo of the leaky pipe and fixture so they knew what it looked like and what parts, etc. to bring.
The repair work was done in a timely manner and Tom was very thorough. I appreciated how he explained everything to me. He was also really considerate about making sure that he had done a good job so there would be no additional problems with the leak or with other parts of the water system and pipes under the sink. Lastly he was good at making sure the work area was clean when he left.
In the future I am hoping to renovate the master bathroom and will call this company to do the work.
"Your complaint came in over Labor Day Holiday weekend in which we were closed on Monday so I'am sure that's why you did not hear from anyone until Tuesday morning. However, at this time I would greatly appreciate if you could delete your comment. We were called to your home to replace your tub diverter which we did just that. Nothing was mentioned about have us replace your "garbage valves" if they were not leaking we have no need to bring it to your attention. After talking with you my understanding we are installing new shut off valves for you which will $220 at your cost. We here at Bowman's are honest and if its not leaking we do NOT replace those shut off valves. Tom, said he told you that you have blue poly pipe in your home he suggested that you might want to think about replacing that pipe because if you don't you might have more leaks in the future....... We have been in business since 1989 and we try to work with every Homeowner when they have a complaint but what we do ask is for the homeowner to be fair and give us chance to respond especially when a Holiday is involved. We appreciated your business and we will see your tomorrow 9/3/14 Thanks Dana Bowman"
"After reading your review, I went to our customer data base and DID NOT find you in there. I'm not sure who you had at your property, but it wasn't Bowman's Heating & Air. After reading the disjointed comment you posted, we're not sure just what the complaint really is. I think you might want to get your facts straight before you make a comment like this on Angie's List. If you feel that you would like to discuss this further, please phone the office and we will address it - 703-471-0451. Michael Bowman, President"
"[member name removed] you actually spoke to our answering service this is a company that takes our calls after hours. TThey only take the call and they dispatch the calls out to our technicians. So I am very sorry you feel the women was not polite. Thank You Dana Bowman"
"Thank you for the comment I will be glad to let the plumber know how happy you were. Please call in the future for anything. We are also providing service for electrical now. Thanks [member name removed] 703-435-5512 Plumbing 703-471-0451 A/C, Heat & Electrical"
Something has gone terribly wrong with this company. They installed my air conditioning system in 2004, as well as a new furnace a few years ago. I've never had problems with them --- until now. This time, there was deceit at every step. At. Every. Step. It started with Dean, as far as I can tell.
Walk away now. If you don't, then BEWARE.
They know I'm taking their actions to the Better Business Bureau. I have no doubt they will respond after reading this and denigrate me further -- further than their owner (and others there) have already done by phone. But THEY KNOW what they did and attempted to do. They also know I have proof in writing. And denigrating me here only makes things worse.
My advice is to BEWARE.
"[Removed Member Name], We fixed your unit so were confused about your complaint. You get a 10 year parts & labor warranty on your unit from American Standard. We fixed your unit under warranty. I understand the tech first stated you needed a new coil, but if it is repairable, the warranty company will only cover repair and not a new coil. We came out and tested the coil and lines to assure there were no other leaks, recharged the unit and got your air conditioning up and running. This repair because it was under warranty did not cost you anything. At this point there are no other issues to discuss and would appreciate you not slandering our company because you thought you were getting a new coil under warranty. We did everything we were suppose to do per the manufacturer protocols for warranty service. Please contact us if you have any further questions. Steve Bowman 703-471-0451"
"Thank You for your comment please call anytime. Thank You Dana Bowman 703-435-5512"
