Excellent. Rick Newman was our primary contact. He came out for the estimate on time. Gave us a great detailed estimate of the work to be perfumed. Was available and explained all of our questions. The roofers came out early and completed the work by noon. Overall a great experience.

I shopped this project to 4 roofing companies. Augustine was the lowest by far. Because of the consistently high reviews on Angie's List, I gave them the work. The crew was very professional. Emilio pointed out some of the issues and explained the process. Thejob took a little longer than expected, but I chalk that up to the complexity of my roof and their care to get it right. I had to on a couple of occasions get the crew to make sure they were catching the debris with tarps instead of my landscaping, but they made sure to clean up the mess and I have since then found very little trash from the job. Bill Augustine was very responsive to a small problem that was caused by the company that delivered the shingles, no questions asked. Overall a very good experience, and my roof looks great.

To be fair the initial visit to provide the estimate was scheduled and completed promptly. However reaching out to them to schedule the actual repair service was next to impossible. Lost count of how many times I had called and left voice mails and sent emails to schedule the repair work. They are not cheap as I had received quotes from other service providers for less than half their price. The only reason to go with them is the expectation of a great service and good quality of work. Needless so say, I'm thoroughly disappointed with the professionalism that has been demonstrated so far and unsure what to expect from the quality of work if and when it is performed. They finally responded with a lame excuse that the front office person was on vacation and scheduled the service for Sat 7/25 at 9am. Waited till 10 am and called them - no response. There is absolutely no communication from them what so ever to let me know if they are delayed or if they have cancelled on me. My whole morning was spent waiting for them and they never showed up. Very unprofessional. I went with them as they were an Angies 2013 super service provider but the only thing that went well so far is the initial estimate.The review would not be accurate if I did not mention that the couple of times that I did speak with Rego@Augustime, the conversation was very professional and helpful but the no show today has been a big let down. Update: The work has since been rescheduled for 7/27 and was completed to my satisfaction. Augustine has done a good job of the repair work and has also offered to discount the charges as a way to address the inconvenience experienced. Overall I'm happy with the way Augustine has addressed the client sat issue and turned a very dissatisfied customer into a loyal one. I've updated my ratings to reflect my most recent experience with them.

No supervision of work performed. Area left with nails and bits scattered on roof and ground.

Update: 7/28/2014 - The following Monday (7/21) I received several calls from their office manager to address the missed appointment. He had been on vacation the previous week and insisted on rescheduling the appointment and making my repair a top priority. An estimator was at my house the next day after we talked and later that afternoon emailed me what I asked for: a repair estimate and a budgetary on a roof replacement. I thought the prices were very fair compared to what I had seen that week. Today (7/28) Bill called to apologize for the mistake and offered to make things right by sending a crew out tomorrow (7/29) to take care of the repair on him. I'll provide another update after the work is completed. Original Comments: I worked from home Friday 7/18 (all week, actually) and no one from Augustine showed up. My office is next to the front door and overlooks our driveway and walkway to the front door. At 12:19pm I called and left a message asking about the ETA or status. Nobody returned my call. 1. Did not keep the estimate appointment. 2. Did not call to let me know the appointment could not be kept. 3. Did not return my call asking about status. I have estimate appointments with 5-6 other contractors scheduled. I will be asking them all for estimates on repair and a replacements for next spring.

The roofing went well, they finished the roof and notified my of a damaged chimney pipe which I will have to get fixed so they can finish around the pipe.

Very good experience. Rick was the first contractor to respond to my request (sent to 5 contracting companies), and maintained quick response to my questions and timing of the actual work. His crew worked all day in hot temperature and seemed to do a very good job (obviously I'm not qualified to judge and won't be going up on the roof to see first hand). We did have a thunderstorm last night and all the places that normally leaked did not this time ! His crew was professional, polite and cleaned up the work site very well, even coming back the next day to re-check and clean their work on the roof. I felt the price was reasonable, compared to all other quotes and the scope of work. Kudos to Rick, his crew, and Augustine for a job well done.

The technician arrived on time and gave me a "heads up" notice 15-20 minutes prior to his arrival. After examining the roof for possible causes for a leak, he said that the only thing that he could find was a couple of "pops" in the flashing. He then repaired the "pops" by sealing the openings and told me if I still experienced a leak problem to let him know but he thought this would take care of it since the roof was relatively new and in otherwise good condition. He also checked the attic to see if there was extensive damage to the ceiling (there wasn't). When he was finished, I asked him what the final cost would be after making the trip finding the probable cause of the leak, fixing it and checking the attic for any long term damage to the ceiling. He said that since the repair was minor, even though he was at the site approximately 30 minutes, there would be no charge. I was very surprised and pleased with the service (after all, this is the Northern Virginia area). In addition to the cost factor, the technician was prompt, courteous and very professional. Overall, and in every aspect, I was very impressed. When I have future needs that are within this company's experience, I will certainly call upon them again. Based on this experience, I certainly don't expect my next service to be free but I do think that their price will be very reasonable and competitive, and yes I would and have already recommended this company to friends. As a final note and indicator of the professionalism of this company, within 2 to 3 hours of the technician leaving, I received a call from the company's Sales Manager to ask for my input about the technician and the service he performed.

Install was only two days and went well. Had a small problem with the flashing around the dormer and it was taken care of immediately.

This was one of, if not the best experiences that I have had with a contractor from beginning to end. Rick (the PL) came out to give us an estimate and did not pitch us anything - that was a great start to the experience. He sent us an email quote the same night with a price that was better than those of his competitors. Installation on our 2,000 sq ft townhouse was complete in one day, and the crew did a wonderful job cleaning up. The only bad part of this experience was that the window screens on our bay window were torn in the process, and there were some black streaks that were left on the bay window as well. I did not have high hopes that these would get fixed just based on past experiences. Wrong. Rick came out and remove the screens himself, and had them professionally re-screened. He also got up a ladder and removed the black streaks on our bay window. We were not pressured for payment until everything was fixed up to our standards (nor were we ever required to give a deposit). The quality of the work was above what I expected. Our next door neighbors had their roof replaced a few months before we did, and I have to say that I think ours looks far better than theirs. I have since recommended Augustine to 3 or 4 of our neighbors and they have done a wonderful job installing roofs for them as well. A+++ for Rick and his team. This is not only a guy you can trust to make sure the job is done right, he's the kind of guy you want to go drink a beer with as well. I would HIGHLY recommend using Augustine for your next roofing job.

From start to finish, the staff at Augustine Roofing was superb. The appointment was quickly scheduled and I was able to get schedule with them within about 10 days after receiving my quote. Other companies told me that they were backed up for over a month; that wasn't acceptable. Rigo was a professional from start to finish; he pointed out things that I hadn't noticed and also explained things very easily to me since I had never owned a home with a fireplace before that I needed to worry about the flashing. He and his crew installed the flashing where the roof met the back of the chimney, counter flashing around the sides of the chimney, replaced the step flashing around each side of the entrance to my house, tightened up some gutters, installed some attic new pipe covers, and more. After removing some of the shingles, he noticed that there wasn't any weather guard under my shingles, so he installed a large section of weather guard under the agreed upon area of the shingles that needed to be replaced and even went a bit wider and higher than my estimate had anticipated, so I probably got some extra shingles installed than I had expected; which is great service in my opinion. He came back the same week to give me a walk through explanation and point out what had been done. Overall, great experience with the company and Rigo is a superb individual; highly trustworthy and respect his professionalism and knowledge. When my house needs a new roof in the future, I will be calling Augustine Roofing and asking for Rigo come by to give me a quote and do the work.

I interviewed several other contractors. I was so impressed with the presentation of what was needed to be done, the professionalism, courtesy, price and warrenty, I chose Augustine Roofing. They did an excellent job!

I talked to four companies and my neighbor talked to eight companies. We decided to do research together and compare notes on roofing companies and shingles to use. We both liked Augustine Roofing the best. The price was the lowest. Researching the shingle to pick, there were options in style, durability and colors. Bill Augustine and his team back at the office were helpful since the Certainteed shingle web site could be confusing and difficult to use until some basics were understood on how to navigate it. Bill gave us addresses of other homes that used the shingle style and color we wanted. The installation went well. The roofers arrived on time and worked hard throughout the day. They cleaned up really well with the entire process being installed in one day.

I contacted several roofers that are highly rated on Angie's List. The price quoted by Augustine Roofing was about 10% lower than a local competitor and payment wasn't required until the job was done. After several days of weather delays, the crew (and Crew Chief, Emilio)showed up at 7AM and completed the job that day (from removing the roof and satellite dish to replacing the bird spikes to the cleanup). A diligent and hard working crew (Emilio left the job site shortly after the work began). Because the roof is three stories high, I can't comment on the completeness and quality of work performed; but after meeting with Bill Augustine the next day, he assured me that the work crew were all his employees and were well qualified to independently perform the work. He also said that he would stand behind their workmanship and the manufactures would stand behind their products. While I haven't yet received a bill, I'm very satisfied with the personal attention I received from all of the folks I dealt with (to include Tony and Erin in the office) at Augustine Roofing.

We have had sporadic water leaks every few years where our sunroom joins the house (original builder problem). Have had several contractors over the years diagnose different problems and solutions to no avail. Augustine came out and diagnosed several problems including faulty replacement of flashing from an earlier contractor. They replaced the shingles over the sunroom; replaced flashing and re-did it properly; and plugged holes in the water table on roof over main house. Was not home when the repairs were made but it was cleaned up perfectly -- no evidence of trash/etc. I hope this is the magic fix! Only minor negative: they tried to sell me a whole-house roof repair based on defective shingles (Certainteed) even though that was admittedly not the source of the water leakage problem. They advised me that the original shingles will not last for the 25-year period.

Rick from Augustine inspected my roof and also came to do the work. Rick is very personable and professional. I choose Augustine roofing because they were well rated on Angieslist and they provided a fair bid for the job. As far as the work goes I will have to wait and see as I cannot climb my steep pitched roof and do any close inspections, which is the only reason I rated quality as N/A. I will say Rick was straight forward about his diagnosis and what he was doing to repair my roof as well as how long his repair will probably last. If I encounter any other issues I would not hesitate to call up Augustine roofing again.

I got 5 estimates and Augustine was the second best on price. I picked them over the best priced company because Augustine uses CertainTeed products and all the reviews I read led me to believe CertainTeed was the best quality material. 1/2) The roof job went very well and I'm happy with the quality of roof, the integrity of the roof, and the installation of the skylights and vent fan. Some of the cut-in where my screened porch roof meets the back of my house was sloppy and there are jagged gaps between the porch roof and where they cut the siding away to install the flashing. I also had one issue where they replaced a damaged piece of wood along the front edge of the house and a bunch of debris fell into the soffit area and blocked the soffit vents. I happened to notice this prior to them installing the new vinyl soffit vent system, so I ripped out the current aluminum vent and pulled out all the debris they failed to remove: rotted wood, tar paper, nails, etc. 3) The gutter job was done quickly and professionally. My only advice here is to ensure you know what type of gutter covers you are getting. I thought I was getting nice aluminum, fitted covers but I ended up with cheap aluminum, cut-to-fit screens. The screens do the job and the contract did not specify the specific type of covers, so I have no real issue. One section of screen was installed poorly but they came out and fixed it upon request. 4) The CertainTeed Invisivent vinyl soffit installed under all the eaves was done nicely and looks great. However, the aluminum trim which was custom fabricated to cover all the fascia, rakes, freeze boards and the two bump-outs was installed poorly. I even question whether some of the rotted wood was actually replaced; I saw some rotted wood still present where they were working and I did not see any evidence of wood replacement in their work area? The owner (Bill) came out to inspect the aluminum work and agreed it was installed improperly and had the crew come back to redo it. The crew only worked on a couple of the sections which were installed incorrectly, and they still failed to install it the way the owner directed them to. The biggest issue was that they nailed into the face of the aluminum, vice nailing along the sides or in the creases to conceal the nails like the owner said it was supposed to be done. They were also very sloppy in the caulking job and got caulking on my windows and screens. The owner said they would come back and do it again, but it's been over 3 months and I haven't heard from them. One note to be aware of - which I don't fault the roofer for: there is a good chance you will have settling crack and/or busted drywall seams, particularly along the seams where your upstairs ceiling meets the walls. This happened to us and I understand it is due to the extra weight of the shingles when they are delivered as well as the roofers banging on the roof. I understand why this happened, but it would have been nice to have been warned. When I asked the company about this, they apologized and said it happens about 20% of the time and they are updating their contracts to inform clients this may happen. The owner of the company (Erin) did note that the shingles were not properly stacked on my roof by the delivery company and said she would talk with the delivery company to see if they could get some of the repairs taken care of, but I have not heard back from them yet. Apparently when the shingles are stacked on the top edge of the roof, the crew is supposed to place wood on each side of the peak to better support the shingles, distribute the weight better and to prevent them from bending. This was not done with my delivery. Given the various issues we had, I had a lot of interaction with this company: Rick the salesman/project manager, Bill the owner, Erin the co-owner, and Tony the office manager. Bill, Erin and Tony were great to deal with; however, they never followed up in the end as they promised. Rick was also very nice, but I lost trust/faith in him as time went on, especially when he came to pick-up the final payment - I expressed my displeasure with these various issues, most of which were simple attention to detail issues - or guys being too lazy/careless to do their job right and/or clean up after themselves. When I told him I could not rate him with an 'A' on Angie's List, he asked that I not provide a review so they could keep their straight A rating - he even offered me a discount. Bottom line: I think these guys are good roofers and use quality materials, but they lack attention to detail when it comes to the soffit/fascia or other wrapping type work. They need more management/oversight of the job site, but don't appear to have the middle managers to provide that level of supervision. I had to provide way too much quality control, inspections and second checking on this job!

Rick came out and inspected the roof because I had a leak that I thought was caused by the roof. The inspection and estimate were free, while another roofer I had called was going to charge something like $175 just to come out and inspect. Rick was very knowledgeable and even familiar with Reston. Rick explained that we needed to wait for warmer weather for the paint to be applied. I'd called at the tail of our very long winter. When the weather got warmer I called and scheduled the work. It got rained out a couple times, but Augustine was very easy to reschedule. At one point I got concerned that the leak was worse and a rainstorm was coming the following week. Augustine made sure to get the work done before the storm and came out on a Saturday. I assume the work was well done, but my roof is very tall and I can't see it to inspect.

My experience with Augustine Roofing (and specifically Rigo Leon, their PM and estimator) COULD NOT HAVE BEEN BETTER. I was dreading calling a roofer (and put it off for far too long) because of the usual issues; inflated costs, upselling, hassles with scheduling, etc. I called three roofers I found on Angie's List. One was unavailable, one was incredibly rude and said he had a 8-10 week wait (clearly didn't want a small job) and then there was Augustine. They hit every single element of customer satisfaction. The person who answered the phone was as courteous as could be (as were all 4 people I came in to contact with). They respected that I was not going to replace my roof and never asked again. They scheduled me quickly and Rigo came exactly when he said he would. The estimate was fast, efficient, very clear to understand and (although no one wants to pay for a roof repair) reasonably priced. Rigo was also very clear that the work would be guaranteed for a year (more on that). I agreed to have the work done and they scheduled me within a short timeframe. I came home from running an errand exactly at the time they were going to show up to find Rigo and another man already working on the roof! They were done quickly, left NO mess anywhere, and took the time to communicate what they had done and why. Two days later we had an incredibly hard weekend of rain and the previous leaks were dry as a bone. Unfortunately, I found another small leak on the other end of the house that had never been there. I was concerned that perhaps fixing one leak, they had caused the water to find another route somewhere else. I called and the person on the phone was completely helpful, not at all defensive when I asked if they could have caused the problem, and readily offered to have Rigo come out again to take a look. He did, and convincingly explained how unlikely it was that the problems were related (also meaning not covered under the guarantee). Still, I was so happy with the work he had done the first time and the respect they showed me by coming out again, I asked him to go ahead and fix the second leak. He went on the roof, gummed up a few small places he thought water was seeping in (took no more than 5 minutes) and DID NOT CHARGE ME A THING!! Not even for coming out there, even when he demonstrated that it was a separate problem! In this day, what company does something this kind?? In my mind, Augustine Roofing is brilliant at customer relations (along with roofing). By doing quality work with a professional demeanor, and by doing this one small gesture of common sense kindness, they have WITHOUT QUESTION guaranteed that I will use them for any further roofing issues, will use them in 3 years when we do a complete remodel of our house (with a new roof), and will tell anyone who will listen that they should use Augustine. This company did everything right. If you need a roofer, absolutely do business with them.

Agustine was easy to work with. Came out numerous times t answer mt questions. Scheduled when it was good for me worked efficiently and got the job done on time.

I am very happy with the work this company did. Rigo was very responsive, showed up in person to let me know job was delayed by one day because of rain, then again to say more decking needed to be replaced than anticipated. Crew cleaned up well after job. Work took only one day. Worked on Saturday.

They showed up on time, did the work and were professional.

They arrived promptly, did their work quickly, identified problems, took photos and showed me before moving forward. Completed the job, cleaned up, went home slightly early because they were done. Very happy with their work.

Rick did thorough inspection & recommended new roof. Scheduled & completed work quickly & as stated. Cleaned up very well each day. Great communication. Roof looks great!

After a weather delay, team arrived at 8 a.m. on Saturday and completed by 3 p.m. Great job. Great cleaning job after. Very friendly.
