They arrived promptly and did all the tests. It turned out to be a fault on the pump and not a leak. They have reset some of the pool equipment so that it now works much more efficiently. They guys were knowledgable, courteous and obviously very experienced. They gave advice on how to make checks ourselves. We will now sign up with Millenium for ALL work on our pool and for opening and closing.
Description of Work: We were told by our previous pool service people that we had a leak underground. It would be expensive and they couldn't fix it. We called Millennium Pool to detect the leak and give an estimate.

Millennium Pool Service are doing what they said they would do, have been timely, they seem to know what they talking about, and seem to be expert. Millennium Pool Service returns calls and their price was half as much as competitors. I would recommend them to anybody.

We bought a home with a pool and when I was calling around looking for a company, Millenium was the only company who was professional and gave me real answers to my questions, in other words, I was impressed from the start. Today they came out to open the pool. The cost was $650 for opening and closing combined including 4 bags of salt, shock, cover storage, vacuuming, skimming, and brushing. They also took time to answer all of our questions and teach us our system. When they left our pool looked less like a pond and within a few hours was clearing and turning blue! They worked quickly, efficiently, were professional, and did an excellent job. We will stay with this company for our pool needs. **Update. July 15, 2013: This has been a difficult road with our particular pool. We continue to use Millenium as we have worked to clear our water and diagnose lost prime that happens on a daily basis. Greg recommended a new filter (after several people had told us the filter on our pool was inadequate) and let us buy it ourselves and only pay to install it, which saved us money. We also used the company to test for leaks in our pipes and no leaks were found. They have come out to inspect the system multiple times, they have re-piped the lines at our pump, and returned free of charge for further leaks. I think that this is a great company, we just inherited a very problematic pool. The only recommendation I would have for this company would be to be a bit more pro-active and possibly do follow-up calls for problematic pools like ours. I feel strongly that at the end of the season, when Millenium closes the pool properly and opens it in the Spring, we will get next summer started without a hitch.

I did not hear from them after that. I don't recommend them.
Description of Work: They showed up last year during the power outage during the 4th of July. They showed up without even telling me they were coming, when I was not home, and when the whole town was without power. They started breaking up the concrete around the pool, left it that way, and called and left a message saying we had no power and they couldn't do the work.

We called Millennium Pool to schedule a pool inspection for a home we are buying. The scheduler was prompt in contacting us and getting just the date we needed. On inspection day, Hank arrived on time. He did a very detailed, thorough inspection. He seemed quite knowledgeable. He gave my husband a lengthy explanation and honest pros and cons of the pool set up and maintenance. What I really appreciated most was him later taking the time to explain his findings/ recommendations to me also, since I had to leave for a while. Not to mention he even kindly explained to our kids not to have sharp items/toys in the vinyl-lined pool. He is very pleasant to deal with and to talk to. A day or two after inspection, he emailed to be sure I had received the report as well. We will certainly do business with him in the future!

I could not have been happier with the quality of the work they did! I did call Hank and tell him his guys left a very nice extension cord. He said he would pick it up, but I was welcome to use it in the meantime.
Description of Work: I decided to open our pool early this year because of some maintenance that I had put off before last year's closing. I had used Millenium in the past and was always satisfied with their price and service. Hank, the owner, came out two days before and he spent a good hour with me. He gave me an estimate of $1,300 and we scheduled the work for that Wed. His crew repaired the holes in the cover, caulked around the perimeter of the pool, lowered the water level and replaced the underwater light, and repaired so surface areas that had scaled over this winter. The pool was filled with leaves, as it always is and they vacuumed it clean enough for the filter system to take over. I'm a happy camper and happy to have this work done quickly, professionally and at a very reasonable price. I now have Hank's cell # on my speed dial in case something else comes up between now and Memorial Day.

I bought my first house last May and one of the biggest reasons we bought was because of the pool. It wasnt all sunshine and rainbows however. A bad pool inspection resulted in a month long search for a reputable pool service company getting multiple quotes and feeling completely lost. Then I found Millennium, and the rest has been history. They have provided me with incredible service from day 1 both in person and over the phone. I truly believe that they have some of the best customer service representatives around. They are willing to work with you and the issues you may have with your pool. If you're having any issues with your pool, or even if you just need it cleaned or vacuumed, call Millennium. The techs that come out to your house are always willing to work with you and teach you things if need be. I know for a fact that Ill be sticking with them!

The digital timer install went fine. The estimate and invoice were in line and Hank was very knowledgeable with the recommendations and the pricing. There was a minor loose connection in the wiring of the pool lights to the digital timer which made the company come out for extra hours but that was not reflected in the invoice so all was fine. Our problems started with the weekly maintenance. We had a good service person in the beginning but they kept switching people so the special instructions we had to not backwash the pumps into our backyard were not followed as new people serviced the filter. This reminder was given to them 3 times and then finally we had tell them to have one particular person removed from our service team. This did not happen either. We finally gave up when the pool was closed for the season. Their people showed up very late (outside the agreed upon time) and even though I was very specific about the amount of time it would take to drain the pool they were surprised at the pool size (since the closing service people were different from the maintenance people). They called in and told their dispatcher that other appointments scheduled for that day needed to be cancelled. Then they sat there for two hours or more and did nothing but watch the water drain. I waited as long as I could but ended up having to leave just as they were starting to do any work. They could have been cleaning filters, unscrewing the plugs to hold the mesh cover, and other possible preperations but instead just sat there and watched me work loading a truck with patio furniture and other duties that I had planned at the same time. It was a little unnerving to see them sitting there laughing and having a great time doing nothing while I was working my tail off. I even asked why they didn't go to another location to start someone elses closing and then come back. They had no problem just sitting there for hours on the company clock watching me work. I finally had to leave them unsupervised to finish the closing. I forgot to tell them that I liked to store the filter in the house so they left it in the filter housing outside. They left our hose spead out across the yard and even left one of their company shirts hanging on an outdoor patio fan. It showed their lack of respect and care. When I came back from a trip a week or so later I opened the filter housing to remove the filter and bring it inside. IT WAS STILL DIRTY - A LOT. The outside of the filter was hosed of but in between the filter pads was filthy. I took photos and sent it to Millenium and told them that this was the last straw. They said that they wanted to come out and inspect the closing to make sure it was ok but then never did. So basically they gave up on me as well. I told them, as I will tell you, they do not have good quality control of their people. They need to weed out the bad apples in their company and understand that they are in the service business.
Description of Work: We had them come out to look at our pool timer as the mechanical timer was getting very old. They gave us a price quote for a new mechanical timer and also mentioned that we could get a programmable digital timer with a remote that would be better for vacations and long periods away. We were planning a three week vacation the summer of 2012 so we wanted help with a weekly service call to monitor the pool chemicals and a good timer system that turned the pumps on and off as well as run the "pool puppy" cleaner. We then contracted with them for a seasons worth of weekly pool and spa monitoring and made a specific request to not backwash the filter into the yard and showed them how to remove the filter and where to clean it.

My husband and I have been searching for a pool company for this project for over 2 years now. When we first started searching we were disgusted at how we would contact pool companies but no one would call us back. Here we are with this huge project we want done and it felt like no pool company wanted the job. The first year we finally got some people from multiple companies to come out and give us a estimate. The first company told us 15000.00 for everything we wanted, when his estimate came back it was 30,000.00. Due to the companies terrible communication skills via phone and email we were never able to find out why the price doubled. The 2nd pool company advertised they did vinyl liner pools and after contacting the VP I finally got a phone call about a month later and the woman stated they do not do liner pools yet..At this point I was frustrated but had one more company to try. The last company came out a couple times, finally gave us an estimate and when we called back with questions once again nobody answers. We finally had enough and stopped looking for someone to redo our pool that year. (May-August was when we were looking) On to the 2nd year of looking for someone to renovate our pool. One thing we did not consider was how busy these pool companies get when springtime/summer hit. I understand that now but if I did not answer back my clients in a timely manner and ready to answer questions I would be fired but every company is different I guess. On to the 2nd year of looking for someone to renovate our pool.We got in contact with 2 other pool companies this time one of them was Millenium Pools. I myself have yet to meet Hank but my husband had both Hank and the other company out and he liked both of the guys but Hank had a bit more of an effect on him, He wasn't trying to up sell him or tell him things that were not true. Hank gave us his cell phone # told us to call with any questions and trust me I have. I always get some type answer when I call or email Millenium. We are having Millenium do our pool this April/May, we signed the contract with them and paid our 1/3 down already. I will post pics of before and after once everything is done. My main reason for going with Millenium Pools is because they are professional, there is communication, and their price was a tad cheaper than most by maybe 1000.00. I did not feel like just another number to Hank. In the end we are spending 25,000.00 which is alot more than we thought but we have no doubts it will look fantastic and we cannot wait to be grilling out by our new pool this summer!
Description of Work: Remove and replace cement deck around pool, remove and replace liner, remove and replace coping, new diving board, putting in drop in steps, new piping for the whole pool. This price does not include the new pool pump or cover. We are switching to a salt water pool.

Very positive experience from pool renovation design, execution, and then changing service plan to Millennium as well. Would hghly recommend them to many.
Description of Work: Millennium performed so well in renovating my client's pool that we decided to use them servicing the pool. They were very responsive, and kept the pool looking great all summer. When there was a fault with the auto cleaner which was from the unit, not of their doing, they troubleshooted for us until it was fixed. They also did a wonderful job winterizing the pool. We look forward to a good relationship going forward. They make pool maintenance much more of a pleasure than previous companies!

I usually close my own pool, but as a result of this pleasant experience I have hired Millennium to close it this year. they are absolutely now my preferred pool service company
Description of Work: Millennium provided leak detection and subsequent repair. Hank and team were super responsive and communication about the service , repairs and invoicing was excellent. In the leak detection, they went above and beyond to confirm the integrity of the system. Parts were ordered, repairs made, and the price came in under the estimate.

Hank from Millenium Pool was able to come out the same day I called for a pool inspection and was at the house early. He explained to me everything that needed to be fixed with the pool to make it useable next spring, as well as provided me with a maintenance schedule (and estimated costs) over the next few years. Hank even gave me a crash course on pools, which was great, because I knew nothing about them. He also was on the look out for anything we would want the home inspector to look at and was very pleasant. The very next day i received a report detailing everything we discussed. I think price may have been a little high (other companies quoted me a bit less), but he came out the same day I called and could not have been better in my opinion. Thanks Hank and Millennium Pool!

In her words: We contacted Millennium Pool Service based on the reviews on Angie's list to do the pool inspection. Despite being prime pool closing season, they worked us in at the same time as the regular home inspection, which was a courtesy we didn't expect as we are not already customers but just the possibility of being future customers. That they were able to work us in at all was great, that they worked with our schedule was above and beyond. Hank came out and did a very thorough inspection of the pool, equipment, decking, etc. He took the time to explain every step of the way (we've never had a pool before--so he had to do a fair amount of hand-holding) and even showed us a few tips and tricks. Very approachable, I never felt like I was asking a dumb question nor did I get the feeling he was tired of answering the same questions over and over. I sent an email with one follow-up question I didn't think to ask. We will definitely be calling Millennium Pool Service if we buy this house!

We were very pleased with their work replacing the liner but extremely disappointed that they couldn't do everything they promised.
Description of Work: Hank Lavery was prompt, friendly and reasonably priced when we requested a quote to replace the vinyl liner and coping on our in-ground pool. His crew installed the liner within a day of its arrival from the factory and did a fantastic job. Unfortunately, they couldn't replace the plastic Trojan coping around the top of the pool because they couldn't find a supplier. They kept us hanging for several months and only gave us updates when I called to ask about our job. We finally gave up and found someone else to finish the job. They get an A for price and quality of their work but would get an F on follow-through if there was such a category.

The overall experience was OK. There are some kinks in the scheduling process. Appointments cannot be scheduled by the person who answers the phone. They are passed to a scheduler who is supposed to call the customer back with the appointment date and time. That did not happen and I had to call the company back to get my appointment date and time. The service performed met my expectations and there was no surprise in the cost.
Description of Work: I needed a pool heater repair. I called to schedule an appointment and was told the scheduler would call me back. I had to call back 3 days later to find out when my appointment was. The technician called 45 minutes before arrival and completed all work. I would have given a better rating if they could work the scheduler issue out.

I called this company to set up a appointment for someone to come and give me a estimate on painting my pool. The lady took my information including the size and type of pool. She couldn't set up a appointment but said someone would call me back in 2 or 3 days to set up a date. Seven days later no response, so I called again, a different lady answered the phone and said the 1st lady should have scheduled it and gave me her direct number. I called that number and she said Greg never called you, I said no he had not, she said she would call him and have him call me that night. The next day Greg left a message that it would cost $2600 to paint my pool. I called Greg back and left a message that sounded good can you please send or e-mail me a wriiten estimate and left my e-mail address. I got a e-mail on 4/19/2012 from this company saying I needed to provide them with my address, pool size and type of paint used on my pool. They also said my number was copied down incorrectly. I sent them a e-mail back on 4/19/12 that if they didn't have that information(which I had provided in the very 1st phone call) How did they come up with a price of $2600? Had they even come out to look at the pool? One month and a day I still have not heard from this company again!

Millennium is wonderful. They not only renovated the old pool liner to gunite, but we've also moved to them to service the pool. This past August, my client's older oval-shaped liner pool inexplicably sprung a leak and all the water seeped into the ground at a rapid clip. The current company servicing the pool, tried very hard but could not find the tear or the leak. After receiving two other bids to replace liner or renovate pool with a gunite shell, we also requested a bid from Millennium Pool which we found on Angie?s List. We were immediately impressed with Hank Lavery, the owner, who walked us thru the pros and cons of both liner and gunite. He outlined a reasonable timeline, fully explained our tile and decking options, and when he submitted a proposal, it was very comprehensive and reasonably priced. His proposal included conversion to gunite, shoring up older walls, new lights, new tile at the water line, new coping, new plumbing from filter to pool to include skimmer and line, main drains, cleaner line, 3' concrete decking and 20' by 20' patio. Millennium also provided us with two names and emails addresses when we asked for references. We received thoughtful, detailed email reply references and felt very confident we had found a top quality pool company to renovate after slogging thru many calls and trying to compare bids that at times were like apples to oranges. (As a point of reference, the other two bids consisted of a higher bid for a liner than a complete renovation for gunite, and the 2nd bid from another highly respected pool service/build seemed too low, and when asked to provide a more robust proposal including details about coping, deck, plaster, walls or timeline, they simply didn't respond. Very odd. I had called five other pool companies soliciting bids in November. Several were unresponsive, several would not consider renovating liner to plaster or gunite.) One of Millennium's references in particular was from the EVP of a large and well-respected metro area construction company who said, "Our renovation required a lot of demolition and coordination as we built an additional hardscape project with water on one entire side of the pool. Hank met with me on several occasions until we felt very good about the overall direction and finished product. His estimates were spot on and his delivery of materials and scheduling of personnel were as promised. I have a couple of dogs in the back yard and a young child so there were lots of distractions and requirements to keep the fence closed and provide for a safe environment. All of the Millennium Pool workers were very professional and courteous. The trenching that they did was hand-dug which was appreciated because I have a lot of underground lines, etc. Hank personally followed up on several occasions once we started up the system and is always returning calls quickly. I guess the best proof of his good service is that we were so impressed, we dropped our pool service of three years and picked up Millenium for our regular maintenance. I have been a General Contractor for 25 years in the Washington DC area and I consider Millenium Pool and Hank Lavery as one of the best that I have worked with." This was not only a reference that gave us a great level of comfort, but our experience mirrored this quality and attention to customer service. My client chose Millennium and was thrilled when Hank suggested a way to add steps and make the pool larger without really changing the footprint of the pool or overbuilding. The end result is a gorgeous new gunite pool, fabulous shape, on-time, on-budget, and my client has also been so pleased with their level of service that he also switched to Millennium for pool service and summer maintenance. They made all of our lives easier and it wasn't the bear of a project we had envisioned.
Description of Work: Bravo to Millennium! Our newly renovated liner converted to gunite pool, with steps and new pool deck and patio, is gorgeous!! When Millennium started the project, we were assigned a super project manager that was on site regularly, and we could call or email with questions and concerns. This provided a great source of information and kept the project on the timeline and both sides responsive to details and decisions that needed to be made. Millennium provided us with samples and books to review tile and decking options. About a 1/3 of the way in, realizing that more complicated landscaping and land grading needed to occur, my client brought in a landscaper who had managed pool decking projects before and when we asked if she could lead the decking project instead b/c it would tie into other pieces she was bringing to the property, Millennium graciously worked with her, and backed out the cost of that part of their proposal. They could have handled it very differently, but their level of customer service and professionalism allowed the transition mid-project to go smoothly and everyone worked well together to meet the May 1 deadline. The project manager kept us informed as they hauled away the old lining, shored up the old walls, dug out a deeper pool with more straight and true wall grading (safer for diving than the original concave shape), and put up the framing to shoot the gunite. They worked with us as we saw the new shape and depth of the stairs they cut out and added to one end, and were easy to work with as we made course corrections along the way. They gently pushed when my client needed to make the tile and plaster color decisions to keep us on time, and looked for high end dimmer light switches but counseled us in the end the better product would be standard less expensive dimmer lights. This was also true when we wanted to entertain a colored plaster and the Project Manager counseled us against it for a variety of reasons even though it would have been an upgrade. Millennium had to take out a section of fence and told us when and for how long the larger pieces of equipment would be in the driveway, including the dumpster. There were no real surprises which was a surprise given the scope of this project. Millennium replaced the section of fence, and took care when they could to protect the grass. The renovated gunite pool, tile and new stairs are gorgeous and Hank's suggestions for the shape change to include the steps were brilliant. My client and I have already recommended Millennium to friends who need to renovate their pool, and have been pleased with the switch to their summer maintenance coverage as well. We are in very good hands with Millennium.
