Worst Moving experience! King adjustable bed frame (w/motor & remote) lost (I say stolen). Mattresses, box springs and several wood tables have water damage. Frame broken on oversized recliner. Base of wood table cracked. Leg broken off of chase lounger and not recovered. All leather furniture scratched/scuffed. Legs and wood trim on formal living room sofas (2) cracked. Wood dressers chippied.

I am the victim of a bait–and–switch billing scam on the part of Interstate Moving that has overcharged my credit card $3,208.51. Here is the situation. I planned to sell my house in Virginia and move to Arkansas. The move would be done in stages. Stage One: First furniture move to storage. Stage Two: Second furniture move to storage. Stage Three: All furniture shipped to new home in Arkansas. I requested a TURNKEY estimate from Interstate that would include all three elements: The two pickups and the final shipment to Arkansas. Interstate gave me different estimates. After Stage One on April 9, 2019: $9,423.38 Two months later on June 19, 2019: $8,029.26 After Stage Two on January 20, 2020: $10,041.28, The only variable affecting total charges in the move was to be storage and storage insurance, since I had no idea how long the process would take. After each pickup we were given a sheet with inventory and weight, which we assumed were a subset of the turnkey estimate we requested from Interstate. Interstate charged my Chase card after pickups and for storage. At no time was I given a running total of charges or what my Chase card had been charged. That’s because Interstate was using these interim invoices to bill over and above the turnkey estimate I had requested. I simply assumed Interstate was a reputable company. That was a serious mistake. When the move was complete, I ran a search on the creditcard website to see the total charges, since Interstate still had not sent any type of accounting, which is in violation of the contract. It clearly says I’m required to be notified of the cost before delivery. After running the search on the Chase website, I was shocked by what I discovered. Interstate had charged me a total of $19,307.33! After I called and complained about the overcharges, I received two invoices from Interstate. Both invoices are filled with mistakes and overcharges. The invoice with the registration #4041556 has three months of storage, but four months of insurance charges. The insurance overcharge for the month my goods weren’t in storage should be reduced by $112.32. The other invoice registration #3911314 charges me for 18 days of storage in June, which is also incorrect. My delivery was on June 8th and my goods left the warehouse before that date. I’m also charged for 12 months of insurance when stage one goods were only in storage 11 months. That brings storage–related cost for both loads to a total of: $6,057.54 When we add the storage–related cost to the turnkey estimate cost the grand total is: $14,086.80. Yet Interstate charged me $19,307.33! According to the signed January 2020 estimate I was overcharged an incredible $3,208.51! IN SUMMARY: I requested a turnkey estimate from Interstate for a move with two pickups and one final delivery to Arkansas. Interstate led me to believe my estimate was turnkey and then added additional charges for the two pickups that should have been included in the original estimate. I received no estimates and invoices were presented in violation of the agreement without a chance for me to approve AFTER the work was done. No customer in his right mind would ask for a moving estimate that only included one–third of the project and then allow the moving company to charge whatever it wished for the other two–thirds. Interstate then overcharged me for both storage and insurance and it tacked on additional transportation charges not allowed by the agreement. In spite of my repeated calls on July 15th, July 17th and July 27th, along with additional email traffic, Interstate has refused to refund those charges. When the overcharges for length of storage and insurance are added to bait–and–switch move estimate, I was overcharged $3,208.51, which Interstate refuses to refund.

We had a wonderful experience with Interstate Moving. From the moment they did a thorough and accurate estimate until the final delivery of all items to our new destination, the service and crew were fantastic. They were very professional, punctual, careful and dedicated to providing top notch service. This was a large move of a 2400 sq ft home and the cost was more than reasonable for the service we received

It went very well. Mike and his crew arrived on time at the pick up location. Packed the contents of 2 storage units inside a very clean tractor trailer. Did it in record time always carefully wrapping items that needed it. Arrived at the drop off location days later, very early. All items unpacked and stacked neatly in the garage again in record time. Mike was a pleasure to work with. His crew was very professional. Thank you so much for making this move stress free. Thanks also to Kim and Elener. You rock!!

Outstanding. For the most part, everyone was helpful and responsive. The one exception was an individual whose employment appeared to have ended while my move was pending. When my shipment was unloaded at the destination, the guys remarked that everything seemed to be exceptionally well packed and stored. The initial customer service rep was tremendously helpful when a snag seemed to develop, diving right in to intervene and assist. I would definitely use Interstate again!

Price was OK but that's where the good news ended. First there were multiple breakages of valuable furnishings and upon inspection while unpacking boxes ,breakage was only found in boxes packed by Interstate. If you have anything of value, purchase extra insurance or you will be sorry! Their basic insurance pays pennies on the dollar. Also, if you don't notice damage the day of the move and report it while they're still there you will be out of luck. Trying to get a positive response to your inquiries is frustrating at best and it took months to come to any sort of settlement. The movers that unpacked in Chesapeake constantly complained about the amount of "stuff" I had and ended up leaving boxes in the wrong rooms (despite being directed), all the while playing LOUD music from a boom box, without even asking if it would be OK. However, I have saved the best for last. The topper came about 2 months later, when my daughter and I opened some moving cartons that were put aside initially because the contents weren't needed right away. The Uhaul cartons we had packed ourselves were fine but the Interstate boxes were literally crawling with cockroaches! Throughout many previous moves I had never had any of these problems! Sooooo- on top of the price of the move, I needed to hire an exterminator!

The team of packers (Shirley and her daughter) were exceptional. The load and unload crew led by Reggie was also exceptional. We moved from a two-story house to a 3-story townhouse. There were some heavy loads for the top two floors but the guys never complained and took extra care with the new walls and floors. We give Interstate our top recommendation. My move coordinator checked on us often and several Interstate reps stopped by to check on things. This was one of our best moves ever.

Very smoothly from meeting with the estimator, to packing, to loading, to unloading. Interstate delivered on everything they promised. A quality control person checked on the packing and loading. All Interstate personnel were courteous, hard-working, and professional.

We had to reschedule several times because of changes at my end (closing on old home) and they were very responsive to my changes. They came on the day finally scheduled and were able to pack everything up at both my home and storage unit. They placed it in storage to await my finding a new home in GA. Scheduled the delivery date and they arrived on that date. We had a small problem that they could not get the large 18-wheeler into my community and they had to get a smaller truck and transfer the load(extra cost). They delivered all my items and set-up my furniture where I asked them to. Overall a good experience.

Very good. Work teams were excellent, on time and very professional. Maintained contact with us during the various phases (3 days) and acquired our input on various issues. Continual follow up from the main office to acquire input and feedback.

Very well. Very minor damage

Fine. Price seemed a little high since we did all the packing ourselves on the front end and we were a return customer. On the delivery end the subcontracted laborers were very nice but seemed tired and hurried at the end and tended to treat our goods a little less carefully. However, we know it was a long day. All in all, the service was good - very satisfactory.

It was the service that I had a problem with. They didn't bring everything. They left part of the goods in Virginia. Some things were damaged. They have not offered anything for the damages as of yet.

There were no stratches or problems with the walls after moving from Stonegate to storage. They used there storage.

It was an excellent experience from start to finish. They took extremely good care of our move! They packed extremely well, wrapped all pieces of furniture and worked very hard in extremely hot and humid conditions. All members were very polite and hard working.

They knew how to pack the boxes. They were on time and we were very pleased. They communicated well with me.

We are in the process of moving and storage and shipping a car. We found the service to be excellent and right on point. This company is also used for military moves.

Estimate was not very accurate. The estimator did not take time to accurately assess our needs. Packers and movers did a good job, although packers packed things that should not go and missed some things. Goods were dilivered and unloaded to our satisfaction.

Initial assessment overestimated the time required to pack and load. The estimate was 2 days for each, and each was completed in one day. The weight estimate was more than 25% too high. Hence our initial payment was much higher than was needed. The actual packing and loading was excellent. The folks were on time, great to work with and did a great job handling our belongings.

I was very impressed. They were here early. They had given me a time and they showed up almost two hours earlier than the time they gave me. All of my questions were answered. They took care of everything. The crew they sent were really good and they were able to handle everything.

Excellent. The service was exactly as was hoped. The three movers did a great job, and were very friendly and professional. When my wheelchair-bound mother-in-law arrived to see the new house, they immediately came to see how they could help get her into, and around, the house. Above and beyond what was expected of them. Would absolutely request the same crew again.
