Peter G was professional and punctual for the appointment and extremely knowledgeable about the work to be done. He spent time assessing the work and shared all concerns, insights and plans clearly - not just throwing out a price from the hip. The estimate was detailed and complete. We had to postpone the work due to the storm, but the office staff was friendly and professional and coordinated a new date for the work. The crew that performed the work (headed by Scott) showed up on time (even a bit early!), and took great care in preparing, and doing the work not to damage a thing. The site was cleaned up after the job cleaner than it was before they arrived! The best experience with a tree service! They are extremely fair in pricing and truly professionals in doing the work. You may pay more but will not get treated better than you will by True Timber. You could possibly find someone to do it for less, but if you do, they would not be as competent! This is a no-brainer! If you want tree service, call True Timber! I am not related to and have no affiliation with True Timber....
Description of Work: Peter G provided and estimate to remove 5 trees, and have the stumps ground. He detailed the work, how it was to be performed and considerations and concerns for the property.

They are great. They didn't damage anything and they took down the tree very efficiently. The clean up was great, you would have never know they were there.

Crew arrived on time and performed the work in a safe manner-no risk taking. At Cherrywood they took down 2 medium size trees and at Snead they removed dead branches - left trees looking real good.
Description of Work: Work was done at 2 location and crews were on time, finished and cleaned up. One site required extensive climbing and Johnathan was excellent, safe and very knowledgeable. Both crews had excellent attitudes and performed very professional - seemed to enjoy their work.

The supervisor that I work with is Peter Girardi. He is an arborist. They are fully insured. It’s a large company. They have couple of arborists but the reason I asked for Peter is that, he was the city of Richmond’s arborist and is now he is one of the supervisor of the arborists. Peter is very knowledgeable and helpful. Only thing that was not right was that they removed a small American Holy from the back. I have recommended them and my other neighbors also use them. I would use them in the future.
Description of Work: I use TrueTimber Tree Service Inc for tree service. They do free inspections. I do it every other year. They come to evaluate the trees that are in my yard. They have done pruning and tree removal. I have discussed city tree also with them. They had come out for a free discussion and estimate. They removed the limbs that were two inches or greater from two Walnut trees in the backyard and cut the Magnolia tree from the phone line. They cut the entire side of a tree that was going towards the house. They removed the dead wood from the front and shaped that. They cut back the secondary branch from a cherry on left side.

There was a tree that leaned heavily toward our neighbors house that we were extremely worried about during Irene. Luckily, the tree withstood the winds, so we thought it was a healthy tree. However, a month later, no wind, no rain, a large branch broke and fell onto our neighbor's property. The center of the branch was hollow, so they asked us to have the tree taken down and highly recommended True Timber. We reached out to True Timber for the first time in October, who came out and provided an estimate for $1500, which was a thousand dollars less than the other estimate we received. With the price and the high recommendations, we chose True Timber. But days dragged into weeks and weeks dragged into months while they were trying to "find a crane" to complete the job. My husband managed the communication and over the past three months, he has called about six times, several times without a return call. Each time he spoke with someone, he was assured they would be able to perform the services soon. Granted, we should have seen the writing on the wall with this company much sooner than we did. It seems that they do great work, when they decide to. It's very unfortunate that we had such a negative experience with a company that seems to have such good feedback from others. UPDATE This morning, a crane was outside of our house, apparently contracted by True Timber. We let the operator know that we'd already had the tree taken down. True Timber called my husband and apologized for the miscommunication. He thought the office was in constant contact with us because they were giving him weekly updates.

The True Timber team arrived a few minutes earlier than they were scheduled and began work right away. They looked professional, wearing matching shirts. While they were getting started, I asked the supervisor if they could trim my wax myrtle bushes - he gave me a price of $50 and his crew did the work right then, very much to my satisfaction. I had been previously undecided about having the tree stumps ground-up, and after talking to the supervisor, decided to have them cut the stumps to the ground as close as possible, but not to grind them to prevent damaging two dogwoods that I wanted to keep, but were growing right next to the trees coming down. The arborist had told me that my lawn, shrubs and other plantings would do much better without the hickorys drinking all the water. He was right - the lawn lost its bare spots and the other trees (especially the dogwoods) grew like crazy in the spring and summer. My cost was $575 to completely remove the two tall hickory trees, plus $50 to prune the myrtles. I plan to use True Timber again.
Description of Work: I got estimates from 3-tree companies to remove two very tall hickory trees from my yard. The trees were tall and straight without any branches until 3rd story height and didn't add to my yard's landscape. If they were to fall, they would definitely hit something - my house or my neighbors, or cars..so they needed to come down. The arborist at True Timber was knowledgeable, polite, and came when he said he would. He made suggestions and offered alternatives. I felt comfortable choosing True Timber because of the knowledge of the arborist, the company's resposiveness in responding to my request for a quote, the professional documentation of the quote, and the amount of the quote seemed reasonable - it was the middle price, closer to the lowest than to the highest.

As always, dealing with these folks is a real pleasure. I have had them take care of my trees for several years and will recommend them with out hesitation. Trimming the oak tree requires ropes and lots of climbing and always brings out the neighbors with their lawn chairs. It's incredible to watch what they do. From an initial detailed, written estimate (with very reasonable prices) to several hours of first rate entertainment to total cleanup and removal when they're done, this is a very professional, personable, conscientious group of folks that love trees.

I went to True Timber's offices, because we were without power and cell coverage. Scott came out to view the site, provided an estimate and said they would get the job done, probably the next day. However, when I returned to the house later in the afternoon, the team were already there removing the tree. Great job guys!
Description of Work: True Timber was responsive and professional. After Hurricane Irene, two of my neighbor's tree tops fell on my house, damaging the roof, guttering, A/C, skylights and outdoor plumbing. True Timber removed the tree and the debris we had already cleared and secured the skylight pending the new install. I was hugely concerned that more damage would be done to the inside of the house without the tree being removed quickly - and True Timber got the job done faster than they quoted. Scott and the team were true professionals and got the job done quickly. I highly recommend them!!

I called True Timber and several other tree service providers in town to ask for quotes on the job. True Timber was the only company that I contacted that was willing to offer an estimate based on my description of the problem, and they were extremely accommodating when I said that I couldn't meet them in person for an estimate or for the job itself. The total turnaround time was about 72 hours, which was well ahead of what other people had quoted me. Randy at True Timber was familiar with the neighborhood and the property, followed up whenever I called, and the staff at True Timber was professional and helpful. I also believe that they gave me a very fair price, and they didn't deviate from their estimate. If I have any tree removal or landscaping needs in the future, I'll be using True Timber.

We were very impressed that the arborist from True Timber diagramed what he proposed to do along with a written explanation on the firm's proposal. This made it very easy to visual what would be done for the money. We felt that the arborist was very knowledgeable about trees, as compared to 2 other companies we talked to. Therefore, based on our confidence in the company and the price, we decided to have True Timber do the work. A couple days before the job was done I called the arborist to ask if we could have one more Leyland trimmed. He said it would be no problem, and he thought he may not have to charge us but would let me know for sure. (It did turn out that I was not charged additionally for this.) I was not at home the day the work was done. I did get a call that afternoon from True Timber saying that they work was done except that they would be back in a few days to grind down the one stump. True Timber also said that while doing the work, a branch had fallen on our baseball backstop and had broken it. True Timber said they were sorry about this, They had then gone out and bought us a replacement backstop and assembled it for us. When I got home that evening, all the trees were cut down or trimmed as planned except that True Timber forgot to trim one of the Leylands by our shed. Also, there was shiny new backstop with a white ribbon tied on it! What a delight! I called the arborist to thank him for the work and new backstop. I did point out that one Leyland had not been trimmed. The arborist said that they would be by in a few days to trim the one Leyland and in likely a separate trip to grind down the stump. True Timber did as they promised. We are very happy with the work that they did.
Description of Work: We had one large tree removed that could fall on our house. We had the stump of this tree ground down. We had 3 smaller trees removed as they were dead. True Timber did not recommend grinding these stumps as the trees were not large in diameter. Instead they cut these down to about an inch above the ground. Then we had 4 Leyland trees reduced in height and girth.

We had a tree come down after a storm which ended up hitting our shed. The next morning I called for an estimate and Scott came that afternoon. Within a couple of days, the trees were down, cut up and hauled to the back of our lot. The crew of three were most professional, friendly and a joy to have around. It's so wonderful to hire someone that fulfills their contract and provide customer satisfaction which is hard to find anymore. Love this company and will use them again when needed. Now, if I could only find other contractors this good.

The team of four showed up exactly on time and got to work. They were efficient and thorough. When they had a question, they asked politely and worked with us (and our neighbor). Their teamwork was a joy to watch! Everyone participated in making sure all work was done correctly and safely. They were respectful of our plantings and our property. We have a narrow lot with neighbors on both sides and they used a system of ropes to control some very large tree limbs. When done, they removed all debris and swept up the walkways. When a small dog became interested in what was happening, they called the owners and held the dog in their truck until the owner could come by. A very good job done by a great team!

I was amazed at how efficiently this company got the job done and how well they planned. They called the power company AND the gas company to make sure nothing was in the way. (Prior contractor never even mentioned the possibility that there might be something interfering with tree removal; it never occured to me at all and indeed there was a gas line close to where a tree had been taken down.) It was a "small job" and they treated me and the work as though it were a million dollar contract. I cannot say enough about the 2 people I dealt with and will not hesitate to refer them to anyone who asks about tree work.

Scott Turner, the Arborist for the company, came to the house to provide me with an estimate. We reviewed the options that were available to remove some trees to provide more room for other three to grow. The estimate provided was the best of the three estimates that I received. TrueTimber started the job as scheduled. They did an excellent job of clean-up. There work crew was very polite and checked-in with me before they departed to ensure that I was pleased with the quality of the work. Overall, it was a very favorable work experience. They did quality work at a reasonable price with a quality work crew. You can't ask for more than that.

True Timber beat the price quoted by other companies that were willing to take on the project, and True Timber did an outstanding job. Even small bushes close to the tree showed no sign of damage from cutting down the tree. I would not have thought it possible to remove the tree with as little impact on my yard as True Timber had. In all respects, their work was professional and exceptionally well done. I would hire them again without hesitation.
Description of Work: I had a red oak tree in my backyard that was close to my house and my neighbor's house, as well as a telephone pole with power lines. About five or six years ago, the tree had been struck by lightening and was dying. At its widest, the trunk was six feet in diameter, and after the tree was cut down, you could see that the trunk was hollow and had a hole in it that was about 44 inches by 32 inches. Because the tree was dying, enormous in size and height, and in a very difficult location, most tree companies were unwilling to take on the project. No bucket truck could reach high enough to handle the tree, and a climber would face risks from dead limbs breaking. The only way to remove the tree safely was with a crane.

At the time I called TruTimber, they were listed on Angie's list but had no comments. I had heard about this company from 3 different people who volunteered the name of the company when I mentioned that I was planning some tree removal. I also check the BBB references and it appeared thay had an A+. I called and an appointment was set up. Estimate given in writing. Had insurance coverage. We mutually set date for service. Crew arrived in a timely manner. Updated me during process. Had to extend work by a day because they realized that one tree would require bucket truck for higher branches. Clean up was done each day. I was very pleased with quality of work and excellent communication. Price was good for work performed based on another estimate I received.
