The move went well. They were a little later than expected due to an earlier job running later than they anticipated. Overall great service. Not super-formal, so if you're looking for a formal process, these aren't the guys. They show up, they do what they're asked without any dilly-dallying, and the rate is reasonable. We were very pleased overall.

We interviewed several moving companies before deciding to hire Moxie Movers.  It was hard to choose because none of the companies wanted to come to our house.  We finally decided on Moxie Movers because it was the highest rated on Yelp.  All of the companies basically sounded about same when talking with them on the phone.  Jesse, the owner of Moxie Movers, asked me to send him a list of our largest items, and to send photos by email.  This we did, and he said it would take about 10-12 hours, and the hourly rate would be $129.  They would pack our belongings too, but at the same hourly rate, so we chose to pack it ourselves. 
I called in May, and he told me he had two days available for the last week of June.  We chose one and then didn't hear anything more.  I sent an email to Jesse about a week before the move asking him to confirm our arrangements, and he wrote back immediately said we were confirmed.  On the day of the move, they arrived at  9:30 a.m.  When it got to be 9 o'clock we started getting concerned and called, to learn they were on their way and had stopped for breakfast.  Since we had no prior arrangements with regard to start time, what could I say? 
The four of them, one of whom was Jesse, got to work immediately, and only stopped for the lunch hour.  They were cheerful, polite, and very hard-working.  On the delivery end, we had a special request: we had just had the floors refinished and all the furniture had to be placed on thick felt pads.  They very patiently worked with us as we put the pads under the furniture.  It took two trips to get all of our things.  Jesse had estimated 10-12 hours, and it took 10.  These guys are amazing and I would hire them again in a minute!

Overall Experience: Way above expectations. I have never seen three movers, paid hourly, work so hard and so quickly!
Service: The movers moved all of my furniture from my garage to where my wife and I wanted it in our home. These guys were incredibly fast, friendly, and intelligent (not normally the qualities I expect out of a mover). We really appreciated how careful they were and how quickly they worked. Thanks!

Despite an initial scheduling issue that delayed arrival, the 3 movers arrived ASAP and were courteous, professional, speedy, and careful with everything.  The $500 includes gratuity and we would not hesitate to hire them in the future.

Three guys from Moxie mover came to our apartment on time and even thought we were on a third floor everything went very quick and smooth. They followed our car to the new location and unloaded quickly without damaging anything at all. We were done with the entire move much faster then anticipated and they were courteous and professional the entire time. I would highly recommend to anyone in need of movers!

This was maybe the best moving experience we have ever had (and there have been a few). Our agreement was for a fixed hourly charge with an estimate that the move would take 12 hours. Moxie showed up at the appointed time with a crew and immediately set to work. They worked steadily filling the first truck. Over their lunch break they rented a second truck and nearly filled that one. (Our street is too small for a big moving van.) The crew was extremely careful not to scuff our floors or newly painted walls. We still have not found any damage to any furniture.
The vans were packed so tightly they looked like something out of a professional Tetris contest. But not once did I feel that they were cutting corners in a way that risked our things.
We arrived in Charlottesville just at it was getting dark and pretty cold. The crew unloaded everything with us pointing out the appropriate location. The last items were unloaded at just about the 12 hour mark.
All the while the crew was full of good humor and animated chatter which made the process almost entertaining to watch.
The crew did a great job with a good attitude and all for a very reasonable price. I just can't say enough good things about their work during what is a stressful and exhausting process.
I would hire them again in a minute and recommend them with great enthusiasm.

These guys were absolutely great. Jesse, the owner, came over and gave us a total estimate but also explained that it would be a per hour charge for 4 guys. He gave me the estimate the same day he came over. On the day of the move, they arrived on time and all four worked hard with great spirit for the entire time. They were careful with our possessions and hard workers - all four of them. They were done in less time than anticipated and the whole job ended up costing almost $200 less than his initial estimate. I can't recommend these guys enough! They are wonderful.

We used Moxie Movers to do a two part move. Half of our personal property was moved to storage in Richmond, VA and the other half was moved to Napa, CA from Richmond. These guys are awesome. They showed up in uniform on each of the two days. Very friendly and professional. They were on time and the final cost was right on their estimate. Not one item was scratched, chipped or damaged in anyway either on the local storage move or on the cross-country move to Napa. I have used national moving companies in the past and always been disappointed. We decided to go with a small, locally owned company this time and will never go back. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

Jesse and his crew were superb from start to finish.  They arrived when they said they would and they worked hard until the job was completed.  They handled everything with care.  In the past I've dealt with moving crews where there always seemed to be at least one person who was slacking.  Not with these guys - they all put in their top effort.  They were also very personable.  Moving is one of the most stressful things you can do in your life and it really helps that the people doing it are pleasant to be around.  Their rates were also very good.

Although I hope we are done with moving forever, I would absolutely use Moxie Movers again without hesitation.

Moxie Movers were incredibly accommodating and allowed us to move all of our items to two locations within a much shorter timeframe than estimates from other movers. Because they charge a flat hourly rate, we knew the more organized we were with our packing the less time and cost we would spend. And that proved to be the case. They even made suggestions during the move that helped expedite the process. We felt that they acted as though it was less about the money and more about efficiency. Without any reservations, we recommend Movie Movers to anyone who wants a dependable, honest and pleasant moving service.

Between my wife and me, we have moved over 20 times. Finding a mover is a crapshoot. They can sound good on paper, the estimator will be as smooth as honey, the estimate seems reasonable, but the proof is the day the truck pulls up. The heartbreaking stories of failed moves is legion—arrived late or not at all, broken heirlooms, slow service while on the clock, carelessness, missing items (presumed stolen), unsafe conduct, late delivery, dumping boxes anywhere and leaving it up to you bring it to the right room. Then you get the bill and there are add-ons for every conceivable “extra” service and it was only an estimate after all. So we have seen it all.I did my homework and found Moxie Movers. Jesse is the owner of the company and he is on every job. He has his own truck and a crew of two others. There are no long contracts with clauses for lawyers to argue about. There is no deposit in advance. He showed up on time. He and his crew were professional, careful, and flexible. He made a stop at Goodwill to help us donate some stuff and he even delivered a piece of furniture to a woman who we had hired to help us pack and clean. When I asked for the bill, I had worked out the hourly rate times the hours and arrived at an estimate of the charges. He quoted a price lower than my estimate. I gladly paid him with a generous tip for him and his team. Even after that, the total payment was half what some of the larger moving companies had quoted and about half of what the moving calculators estimate a move will cost. I cannot recommend Jesse and Moxie Movers highly enough. You never know who will show up on one of the most anxious days of your life. Let Jesse show up and you will breathe a sigh of relief.
