This animal hospital disparages non-profits like Prevent A Litter that provide low cost shots and spay and neuter surgeries for being "unqualified" but gave me the incorrect dosage of antibiotic to treat my dog. I brought my dog in for diarrhea at Church Hill Animal Hospital and as soon as Dr. Manual heard that I was getting annual shots from PAL instead of them, she did not want to talk to me on the phone. She told me PAL doctors were not as qualified to provide good care. I could tell that she was less concerned about my dog having preventative shots and more angry that she couldn't profit off of me. She answered as little of my questions regarding my dog's overall health as she could, only answering when I asked twice. Then they just gave me a prescription, a sticky note, and a bill. What is worse is that the prescription was for an incorrect dose. Yes, clerical errors happen but this one has the potential to put your pet's life at risk. Seeing the other 1 star reviews on here, I can tell that I am not the only one who has been impacted by the carelessness of Church Hill Animal Hospital. The 5 star reviews that you are reading are from a year ago before Dr. Jack retired. My dog was a patient at Church Hill for 3.5 years and we loved Dr. Jack. Now that she has retired, it seems that the whole staff has been replaced with impatient and careless doctors and staff. Seriously. If you are considering taking you pet here, be aware that you may not be given the correct dosage or medication, will not have your questions answered, and be shamed for supporting an amazing non-profit like Prevent A Litter.

My cat had a sore on his lip. I think it is working and will go back for a follow up.

They are friendly and it is a clean veterinarian hospital. They are patient and will answer any questions that we have. The wait time is not very long, probably five or ten minutes. They call to confirm the appointment.
Response from Church Hill Animal Hospital
"Thank you. We try very hard to keep our wait times as low as possible. Since we are a medical facility, we do run into occasions where wait times are a bit longer than preferable. We always try to make sure that each person and their furry family member gets the amount of time needed to care for them properly."

DO NOT GO HERE FOR GROOMING - especially if you have a long haired cat. They have no clue what they are doing and they don't listen to you beforehand. I gave explicit instructions which they did NOT follow. All I asked is that they remove every tangle - whether through combing, clipping, or cutting with scissors. My cat came back with huge tangles. Unfortunately I did not pick her up - so I didn't know that until after she was home. In addition, I asked for the sanitary clipping - which is shaving the back of the legs. They didn't do this either! I asked them not to cut the top coat, where there were no tangles - apparently that is how they go soooo confused. uh duh don't cut my cat's beautiful long hair where it isn't needed.
Nan Jack is a GREAT vet. I give her and A. In fact my overall B is ONLY that high because of Nan Jack. They used to have some good help - unfortunately now it is hit or miss - and mostly miss.
Dr. Clay is terrible. She does NOT listen to you at all. She doesn't care what you say. I've gotten completely incorrect diagnosis from her. To the point that when I had to bring my cat in a second time - Dr. Jack said - WHY DID SHE SAY THAT WAS THE PROBLEM???
We almost spent thousands of dollars based on what Dr. Clay said. Thankfully we saw Dr. Jack another time before getting those procedures done. They would not have helped and most likely would have hurt my cat.
Also don't expect the front staff to be at all sympathetic to anything you have to say. Some of them have simply been working there too long. The one that I've seen the whole 7 years is the worst.

"First, we'd like to thank you for your review. We always appreciate feedback. Unfortunately, we are not a grooming facility though we do try to perform services as per client request if possible. Our staff is highly trained and we continue to address any possible negative feedback as needed and as applicable."

This was our first time using Church Hill Animal Hospital and we really enjoyed our experience here. They are obviously popular, as there were a ton of people in the waiting room when we arrived, and everyone seemed happy. We also have several friends who use and like them. We did have to wait a bit before being seen (maybe 35 minutes or so) even though we had an appointment. But the staff members were very nice and the doctor was thorough in her examination. The atmosphere is very laid back, and there are several resident cats roaming leisurely around. It's obvious they love animals. And I feel the cost is definitely reasonable. We will be using them again for future veterinary needs.

They have a great reputation for being available, reasonable in price, and helpful. The service was definitely available. That was great. They also let us borrow traps. That was fine, too. But we never met a veterinarian. The clerical help and vet techs varied in helpfulness. The price wasn't as inexpensive as I had heard. We asked that the vet check the eyes of two of the cats. She didn't. Or if she did, we got no report of that. I guess if they had thought we were going to take the cats back to their home in the rocks, that might have been okay, but we told them we were going to take the cats to our home where they would be with our cats. The two kittens both have feline herpes, a fact that no one noticed at the time we asked for the eye check.

We just moved to the area and found this veterinarian. The office staff is friendly and outgoing. He is a little cheaper than most and we still get good service. The down side is they have no after hours service.

I like them. I don t know if this is relevant, but she made me mad. I wanted to get a copy of the prescription for heartworm pills so that I could order it on line and she wasn t able to do that for me. Besides that though the service was good and my dog was well taken care of.
Response from Church Hill Animal Hospital
"Thank you for your positive feedback. As far as your other concern, we will match prices for any online medicine. Unfortunately, we do not trust the online services as some patients in the past have received low quality, incorrect medications, or incorrect dosage. We prefer to make sure that each animal receives the proper medication and care that we can provide."
