I would most definitely NOT recommend Philbrick, Inc. It took them 9 days to fix our heat. The man (Kevin) that came out to diagnose the problem was rude. The office manager (Dara) had poor customer service skills, was argumentative multiple times, and even threatened to have the heat turned off when I asked for an itemized bill. The day the technicians finally came to fix the heater, it took them less than 15 minutes to put the part in then wanted a check for $650.00, and never even checked to see if the heat actually worked. I asked for an itemized bill before I paid because the part was under warranty and took minutes to fix. They would not give me one or let me speak to the office manager’s boss. They finally gave me a work services rendered paper, which only had a total due but not a breakdown so I could see what I was paying for. From that document I learned Philbrick got the part from a company in the area and didn’t even try to get the part until 6 days after the diagnosis. Since I never got a phone call from a boss or an itemized bill, I am left wondering why it took so long to get my heat fixed and exactly what I paid for since it wasn’t for the under warranty part and that price is way too much for less than 15 minutes of labor.

They scheduled our repair quickly, the technician was on time and found the problem quickly and was done in an hour. That was great. The issue I have is with the price. It was an inexpensive part and he was there an hour. $325. I found the part on an authorized dealer site, it was $33. I confirmed this with a recently retired HVAC tech who used to charge $70 for the part. Assuming Philbrick charged $100 for the part, that made their hourly rate just over $200 per hour. They didn't an provide itemized receipt. I was told it was a flat rate charge for this repair. I recommend a second estimate especially if a lengthy repair is expected.

I could not get an appointment the same day, or the next, but a plumber and an apprentice arrived Monday morning, on time, as scheduled. I showed them a stain in the ceiling below my shower and told them I thought my shower faucet might be leaking in the wall and I wanted them to replace the shower faucet core since the shower would not adjust between hot and cold. They told me they would have to order the part, probably by Wednesday, and would have to charge me for the service call. I wrote them a check for almost $120. By Friday, I had not heard from them so I called. Later the plumber called me back and told me he had been very busy on a large job and had not ordered the part. He told me he would order it the following week and get back to me. I called again the following week and the plumber told me they had not ordered the part but he would order it. I called back the following week and the plumber told me they had some delivery problems and they had to reorder the part. The following Friday, the plumber called me back and told me they had the part and could install it the following Monday. They arrived on schedule and spent less than 30 minutes installing the faucet core. They did a very good job replacing the faucet core. This service call cost $185. In total, it TOOK THEM THREE WEEKS and just over $300 to fix my faucet (just replacing the valve core). I discovered that Home Depot sells the part they used for $22. I should have fixed it myself. You can learn how to fix anything on YouTube.

I was a total wreak wondering how could this be done without destroying my home. I took my time and found the EXPERTS who knew how to find the RIGHT company get the job done.
Description of Work
My house is built on a slab and the waterline broke. Another company wanted to destroy my wood floors, my tile floors and jack hammer half of my downstairs area to just to FIND the path of the broken pipe. NO, NO, NO! Philbrick came consulted with me and knew just the company that could do this kind of repair work WITHOUT bringing a jackhammer through my door. The work was costly, but not as costly as destroying half of my house and I having to pour concrete, and replace all flooring. Not to mention the dust, the dirt and my total and complete mental breakdown.

Superb. I have NEVER EVER dealt with any company that was - from second one to the trucks driving out of my driveway - as perfect as Philbricks. The guys just pulled out of my driveway after a 3 day install. I am so excited to spread the word, I came here to Angies List to provide feedback. Totally professional, expertly trained, very courteous with complete attention to detail to say the very least. The sales person, on a scale of 1 to 100, is a solid 100 with no reservations. The installation team, on a scale of 1 to 100, another complete SOLID 100 - no question. Scott (Sales) was always on time, NEVER rushed, took meticulous notes throughout all of our discussions, spent countless hours ensuring that these notes were clearly translated for no chance of misinterpretation. Any rebates or offers were instantly thrown on the table, all the extras/upgrades were simply included, tax was included, required city inspect cost was included, NO SURPRISES. Overall pricing was clear and simple - never did i feel like i was being taken or mislead. NEVER in all this time was there this "oh if you want this device its x dollars more" or "If you don't act today then discounts go away". You know my point. I actually was a bit on guard after i signed the contract that "things can't really be this smooth and stress free". They were. The installers (4) were ALWAYS on time, treated me with respect and were always available instantly to listen to and address to my satisfaction my every question and thought. George and his main partner and their two helpers were all professional and concretely knowledgeable in every detail. NEVER did they encounter anything that threw them or made them take shortcuts or leave me with the feeling of "I hope that was correct". i enjoyed watching how perfectly in sync they worked together. Each person had their specialty and they executed as a team without a flaw. Only in Japanese kitchens have i seen this level of respect and teamwork. I even asked them to do a few small things that were not part of the job (like laying a few rolls of insulation under the attic platform). They did so without hesitation - never once did i ever sense any frustration or anything. They even fixed things that were broken for years and i swear they did it with happiness and joy. Here is what impressed me the utmost. The sales person who recorded all of my details and concerns and questions and such (I'm quite a perfectionist so one can imagine), he not only captured them perfectly, he sat with the installation team prior to day 1 and reviewed everything. When the team came to my door promptly at 0830, without me having to ask to go down any list of any kind, we greeted each other and then THEY had me walk thru a few of the items they didn't understand (it was my unique concerns that could only be understood after talking with me personally). Within 10 minutes, i was like "Well, here we go!". Every single item on my unique list not only was remembered but each and every single one of them was taken care of with perfect results. Everything was installed with perfect alignment, tight, secure and all messes were cleaned up better than they found it. Now that the job is over, my home has never been cooler, i don't hear anything running at all and i am beside myself with satisfaction. Having rebuilt my home for the past 10 years, I have dealt with a lot of "trustworthy" companies and "experts". I feel 95% of companies just don't ever measure up to their marketing or "promises". Philbrick is tops. This coming Monday, I will be switching away from my regular AC maintenance provider (after a great 10 years) because i feel like what goes around comes around. I want to be a good customer to this amazing team. You have earned my respect and trust 100%. THANK YOU PHILBRICK! Now, let me go enjoy my "new" home. :)

We called Philbrick's and they came by to look at our ducts. They said they'd send a quote. A month later, I call them to ask them about the quote. I left a message with the receptionist and was told I'd get a call back. A week later I called them again and left a message with the receptionist, who told me I'd get a call back. The next day I called again, and the receptionist told me I'd get a call back. Still no call back. Philbrick's can't treat people this way and expect to maintain a good service record. They shouldn't be surprised about this bad review. Really, I wouldn't have written this bad review if they had told me up front that they weren't interested in doing this work. Or if they had returned my call from last week, or one of the next two follow up calls. These ducts should have been repaired weeks ago, so I'm rather annoyed.

They were wonderful. They came out on a Sunday night, like 10:00 pm. They evaluated our house to see what the best unit would be for us. They really explained the fuel efficiency of the three part system we have, the furnace, heat pump and the AC. They recommend on how many registers to have, where you set the temperature. They've just been wonderful anytime we had a question or issue.

Called at 9, said tech would be there between 11 & 1 - they very graciously said they would call me when tech was on the way, which they did at 12:20 (inside original window, which is great). That way I didn't have to miss as much work! Tech, Danny, arrived at my house 20 min later (right when I arrived), got right to work and had figured out the part that was the problem w/in the first 30 min. Then he went to two different parts suppliers to find the right part for my furnace - did I mention it's an antique? - and came back and installed the part and now we're getting nice and toasty again. All within two and a half hours. Could not be happier. He saw one of the guys from the plumbing side of Philbrick's at the store and he had finished a job early, so he told them about my separate plumbing issue, and the plumber called the office and they were over here 20 min after that! Really good customer service on the front end and at the office. This is second time we've used them and I'm so pleased.

Tim Hatfield provided excellent information on the pros and cons of repairing versus replacing. He was able to meet at my house in the evening time as that was the only way to accommodate my busy schedule. Tim was not at all a high pressure salesperson. Instead, he shared his expertise, was honest and took the time to explain about the differences in models, types of gas connections, and by the end of our meeting was able to provide me with a final install cost and financing incentives. Tim was able to schedule the install before he left my home. The installers arrived promptly at their scheduled time, introduced themselves and quickly went to work. They removed the existing unit inside the garage and outside the house a replaced them with new units and installed and programmed a new digital thermostat. They worked from inside and under the house to replace the existing duct work to ensure maximum efficiency of my new unit. When the installers completed the job, there was no sign of them being there. They removed all the old unit pieces, venting material and no debris was left inside my home or out. Job well done Philbrick Heating and Cooling!! You have exceeded the expectations of this customer and I will continue to recommend you to everyone I know. Thank you for making my home air and heating comfortable again.
Description of Work
Philbrick Heating and Cooling replaced my downstairs ac/heat unit as my older one had a compressor that went bad and would have been too costly to repair. Replacing the entire system was a bit more than repairing the 9 year low quality unit, however the price includes a top of the line unit, an excellent parts, repair and labor warranty and will be approximately 30% more cost efficient.

Excellent service installing my gas water heater. Philbrick Inc provided a timely response to my request for an estimate, and worked with me to schedule installation of a gas water heater I purchased from another source. The installers were polite and very professional. The work was excellent quality. Operation of the water heater was explained, and the unit tested prior to wrapping up. The installers did a great job cleaning up their work, explained all charges, and even hauled away my old water heater and all the packing for the new unit. I was very impressed with the whole experience, and I will use Philbrick Inc again for my plumbing needs. Certainly worth checking Philbrick Inc out.
