Wonderful job. The original call was to fix a sump pump that was not working properly. Norfolk Plumbing made a thorough analysis of the problem, cut out the old connections that were leaking, and installed a new pump. Once the sump pump was fixed, they customized connection joints and tubing fasteners to allow an underwater pump to run water through a filter and up through an overhead weir. Each of the connections required customization, and the ingenuity of the workers was craftsmanlike in every regard. Super job. At the completion of the effort, the sump pump and the pond pump, filter, and weir connections worked without any leaks whatsoever, and all has continued to work for the past month. These are the best plumbers with whom I have ever worked. Not a minute wasted or spent doing anything but the job at hand, and courteous throughout. Would recommend to my best friends.
Description of Work: Fixed inoperative sump pump connections and pump. Created and installed connections for outside pond pump and filter units.

They were very professional and courteous. I feel that the price was reasonable based on the time, materials, and work involved. Our tub/shower faucet handles were all rusted in and we could not remove them ourselves, the faucet was leaking in the tub as well. I was concerned that the wall would need to be opened up but thankfully they were able to work with the front and back openings that were already there. I was impressed as it is a tight space and small opening in the back panel through our kitchen wall. The replacement pipes and workmanship look great. We are very happy with how the tub now looks, and no more leaks. We will definitely call them when we need work done in the future.
Description of Work: Repaired leak on outside faucet along with installation of a new 3 handle tub/shower faucet set and pipes (all provided by them) in our master bath.

I thought the workmen did a very good job. They covered the work area with a plastic cloth, cleaned up the debris and left a neat job which passed the city inspection. They were prompt. They were helpful in familiarizing us with the product.

The following Monday the owner called us and told us that the manufacturer of our gas logs only deals with their representatives in this area He apologized fro the inconvenience and said he would not charge us for the initial service call. We couldn't believe it. Imagine a company that actually cares about the customer. If we have any plumbing problems Norfolk Plumbing is the company we will call.
Description of Work: We had a problem with our gas logs. I called Norfolk Plumbing and they sent someone out to check them for us. They could not resolve the problem on site. They told us that we needed a part and that it would have to ordered from the company that made our gas logs. They said that someone would be in touch with us about the part we needed and the installation.

I called Norfolk Plumbing based on their angie's list rating to do a number of tasks that had piled up at our house. It took them two trips, though they only charged for one. The price was higher than I expected, but having never hired a plumber my expectations were likely misplaced. These guys had a bunch of things to do all over the house, and they did them well. They also took the angieslist coupon and knocked 10 percent off the labor. Would definitely hire them again.

I called on the weekend and my info was taken, it wasn't an emergency and they came out Monday morning. Apparently the washing machine had just been over worked that day and the drain didn't need any cleaning out. I got the bill on Wednesday, I questioned the cost if the drain was fine, they were very polite and explained the basic trip cost. I also questioned the Angie's list discount and received it. Very nice people to deal with, they had nothing to hide and explained everything.

Scheduled to show up at 0830 but no one had arrived by 0900. However, when we called the company they checked and the first plumber was there within the next 10 minutes. They ended up having three different plumbers working different parts of the job (multiple tubs). The work was done exactly as described and everything works great. After the work was done one of the tub faucets still leaked and the last plumber left took the time to take them apart again and finish the work until it was right.
Description of Work: Replaced two tub drains that were not flowing correctly, one all the way to the main. Replaced one set of tub faucets and fixed leaking faucet valves on another. Removed old unused gas line.

I called Norfolk Plumbing on 4/1 to request the service. Jeff said the guys could come out the next day after another job, but since I've used them before, I figured I wouldn't push for that as they'd come no matter what time they finished the first job and it was a Friday and since it wasn't urgent, we scheduled for Monday. Steve and Jason showed up right on time and went straight to work. The job involved some drilling, crawling under the house, replacing the pipe and faucet (that spewed everywhere while using the hose). In 20 years, it's never been that water tight while using the hose. It was worth every penny (and the charge was less than the estimate Jeff gave me over the phone which was great!!) and I will be calling to have the front faucet replaced soon.
Description of Work: Replace outside faucet.

Called on a Thursday or Friday to schedule a radiator to be removed for a scheduled harwood floor job on the following Tuesday. Jeff came himself to assure we got it removed in time. It took him about a half hour. He was very professional and we got a great sense of assurance from him. A few weeks later after all our renovations were complete I called on a Friday and was told they could reinstall either the same day or on Monday for sure. They did not come on Friday, so on Monday around 1030 I called to verify they were still coming. I was told I was next on the list, but they never did show up on Monday. I called that night and left a message which was returned Tuesday morning around 9 am where I was told they would be by in about 30 minutes. A different plumber and a helper showed up to do the job which took about an hour, so the total work time was about 1.5 hours. The total cost was around $289.85. Labor was $127.50/hour of which they charged me for a full 2 hours, plus a $23 radiator valve, $9.75 radiator elbow, and 2 chrome plates for $2.10. They did honor the 10% Angies list discount bringing the cost down to $260.86, but I was completely floored at the Labor cost. $127.50/ hour for labor?????? Are you kidding me. The guys were great, professional, and recommendable, but the labor cost is highway robbery and should rank up there with the worst of crimes. Get a quote in writing before you have any work done. If they fixed there labor costs, they would get an "A" as an overall grade. The rest are easy fixes.

I'm a stay at home wife so figured I would be my own contractor and save a few bucks which worked out well! Along the way, I learned alot and having experienced, patient :), personable sub contractors made it all go so smoothly. Jeff, the owner came out within a day of my request for a bid. He wrote up his proposal off of my punch list within a day. I had gotten one bid lower and one bid astronomically higher. I choose Jeff and Norfolk Plumbing over the lower bid because while being professional, Jeff was also friendly and explained his vision of how the job would work (pretty much educating me) and just made me feel comfortable. This job entailed the guys coming multiple times from the start of the job to finish due to everything having to be done in steps. They ran into some unexpected situations, through no fault of their own, but pretty much "uncovered" problems. Didn't faze them, or at least didn't let on!! Steve and Jason were my crew throughout which was nice except for one scheduled visit where Steve had a medical issue and instead of cancelling, Jeff sent two other guys who were also great on that scheduled day. I never heard a grip about finding something that would take longer than expected and more work. I was never charged for these uncovered findings that took more time. With how the cabinets were set off the wall and a mistake of different cabinets being delivered than what was ordered,(custom so we made out on the deal but the lines now had to be moved over) there was an unscheduled visit needed to fix that. Again, unforeseen and not planned on, but out they came and took care of it without charging me. Steve explained just about everything he was going to do or did and also made suggestions and we appreciated his expertise. I know more about a low flow toilet than I ever thought I would :) They were always on time. They stayed until the job they were to do was done even if it took longer than expected and was getting late. They always cleaned up. When the office said they'd schedule the inspections (took 3 different inspections for different stages of the job) with the city, they actually did!! (Trust me, that didn't happen with all my subs). All phone calls were either answered or returned promptly and always a pleasant experience. It was great to hire and deal with people that I actually enjoyed. We love the new bathroom and I'll never need to call a different plumbing company ever again as I'm a Norfolk Plumbing lifer. Norfolk Plumbing, Jeff, Steve, Jason and office staff bent over backwards to make everything right, keeping the job on schedule and have everything go so smoothly. As a first time contractor, sometimes I didn't have my "ducks in a row" and they held my hand and guided me through it. On the last day I asked Steve a question about a possible leak in the hall bathroom. Not only did he investigate, including grabbing a ladder and heading up to the attic, he gave me his advice on what to watch for to make sure it's either a plumbing problem or a vent/drywall problem (he thinks the latter). That's just an example of what kind of person he is. I wholly recommend Norfolk Plumbing for any job large or small. You won't be disappointed.
Description of Work: After a total gut out of our master bathroom, Norfolk plumbing bid on the following: Remove and cap existing cut off values. Remove existing water closet. Open floor, relocate, provide and install new shower drain. Rough in waste and water for new sinks. Provide and install new shower pan. Connect all new fixtures, shower system, water closet and two lavatories and faucets. Install owner supplied recirculating pump. Provide and install new cut off valves on all fixtures.

Very disappointed overall. Jeff Hux scheduled and completed an estimate visit in a timely manner, and submitted what we thought was a reasonable bid/quote via email for gas line installation, hot/cold hose bib installation, hot/cold secondary line installation and an outdoor shower installation. However, we have followed up via phone and email three times over the past 4 weeks trying to move forward with the work and have received NO response. We used Angie's List to be sure we worked with "Grade A" contractors (responsive and professional)-- Norfolk Plumbing has turned out to be more of a "Grade D" experience.

yes it's true. back to back noreasters and holidays just didn't let things work out for this job.i did go out and look at the job on the weekend on my day off.too many emergencies i.e. no heat and no hot water calls etc. kept us from getting this one done.sometimes a job can just get away from you. once again sorry but thank you for taking the time to write us a bad review, it will probably only take a year for it to move to back page. thank you, jeff.

Only thing I would suggest is be aware that scheduler will call and ask if you are available during the two hour time window you scheduled. I was in the shower and missed the scheduler's call, so the first crew got sent to someone else. Dispatcher called later in the day within 1.5 hours and scheduled a new time. Just be sure to be available to receive dispatcher's call.
Description of Work: Scheduled repair of two faucets on 12/28/09, Rich and Ray showed up 12/31/09 as scheduled. They suggested where I could buy plumbing parts locally. They were both very courteous and professional. I felt fortunate to have someone come out on New Year's Eve. This was my first time using an Angie's list contractor.

Went very well, although it took them days to get there. It was not their fault, the Nor'easter caused overwhelming problems in the area. My only criticism is a small one, they did not let me know that they were going to be even later than discussed. Again, they were very busy. My tenants told me they were very professional and efficient, even spending time to explain their water bill charges and the readings on the water meter. I will use them as my go to for both my house and my rental.

Greg & Jason had just completed a job nearby and arrived within 15 minutes of my call on a Saturday. Jason was an apprentice with three years of schooling/training under his belt. They explained what they were doing in detail and were kind to my 2-year-old. It took about 25 minutes to vacuum out the standing water, send a snake down the pipe, put everything back together, clean up, and then load up.

Water heater went out Sunday, called and left message. They called Monday morning shortly after 8:00, and said someone was on the way. When the service team arrived (Craig and Ray) they replaced the whole assembly showing and explaining that the original (left hand threaded assembly was no longer available). They showed me additional features on the new unit and how just the temperature sensor could be replaced if ever required. They cleaned out the water heater burner area, and explained that there was a screen which should be kept clean. They installed the new unit, tested it, and checked for leaks, and for complete combustion. They also performed routine maintenance on the gas fired boiler. While Craig was getting some equipment from the truck, Ray used those few minute to start cleaning boiler. They were timely, knowledgeable, and professional. The parts price seemed within a reasonable range, and labor rate was good.

Ridge came in and quickly assessed the situation. He made repairs to the toilet in the master bath, replacing the flor bolts and the wax seal, also the ballcock and the flush seal. It took much longer for the bathtub as the parts had frozen and the parts were non-standard. Ridge had to leave to get the part in another city, but did not charge for the time. The other two repairs were replacing ballcocks and flush valves, so pretty standard and very timely. Ridge was very professional and very knowledgeable. He did quality work and didn't skip any corners.

Ridge and Jason, the plumbers, quickly made the necessary repairs to the constantly running toilet, the leaking bathroom sink, and replaced the leaking kitchen disposal. We also discussed the hot water heater which will need replacing soon. Ridge took the time to explain the problems, options, and best resolution. They were professional, thorough, and courteous. When the time comes, I will be definitely discussing a bathroom renovation with Norfolk Plumbing.
Description of Work: I have just purchased a townhouse (a foreclosure with "issues") and had been told by the home inspector that the house had a leak in the 3rd floor plumbing, which had caused substantial damage to a 2nd floor ceiling. Ridge (the plumber) quickly determined that it was a problem with the roof. (Now why didn't the home inspector figure that out?!!). I then had the plumber inspect the rest of the plumbing to determine if there were other problems. Naturally there were.
