In August 2022, Daniel Painter, accepted my demolition job under false pretenses. He gave me a contract indicating what the demo job would entail, although he is not registered as a demolition company. He is a landscaping company. Because he gave me a competitive price, I accepted his offer. I sent ZELLE Payments to his secretary Marilyn, of $4750, which was half down. On May 10, 2023 he decided to tell me that he was too busy to complete the job that he never started. The code enforcement officer directed him on what to do throughout the months. All Daniel did was complain about the number of permits he had to obtain. Well, if you demolish a property, you should already know what permits you need. He tried to say that the house had asbestos and wanted another $1500. The house does not have asbestos. He filed the property as commercial instead of residential, which was a red flag. As of 7/16/2023, I have not received a refund! There has been one excuse after another. Zero Rating! UPDATE 8/2/23…Daniel Painter has not given me a refund. Promise after promise of a check coming or a Zelle payment and absolutely nothing but excuses. He also doesn’t have a legitimate address to “send mail.” Taking peoples’ money and not returning it as promised because you cannot do the job is not a way to run a business. Be careful of this one. Even his secretary won’t pick up the phone. Hire at your own risk!

"Yes there is two sides to every story this is the other side I gave her a contract to remove a cinder block building nothing about apartment was over in the contract after about 4 months she asked did I get all the permits I told him I contact did not say to get from his mine was for removable only so after going back and forth to the [Member Information Removed] of Virginia Beach with all the paperwork everything then they tell me that it must be inspected by asbestos company to find out if it has any in there and that cost about $6,000 however once again I do not agree for that or would I do it I have no experience in it my job was for removal only they did not want to do asbestos how's the [Member Information Removed] said they want to bypass and hurt someone that's not for me I went over and beyond my contract I wish them the best the legal way"

"I gave her a contract written contract that said I would take down and remove cinder block building. After finding out that I had to get all the permits and everything which was not on my contract I still went forward with it for the long time getting that straight and then when I went and put everything together checked out and you had to pay somebody to do that and they were trying to get around that I just could not do that so I'm refunding her her money $4,000"

Daniel came out to my home in April to give an estimate to install a brick patio to the right of my concrete patio. The installation is to mirror the brick patio to the left of my concrete patio and the small knee wall relocated to the new patio area. Daniel said it could all be done in one day. On 4/25/23, I paid $800 by check and submitted a contract in advance of the work start which was scheduled to be done 5/15/23. On 5/12/23, I texted Daniel to confirm he was still doing my patio 5/15/23 and he replied they may start Saturday 5/13/23 or would dig out Monday 5/15/23. They did not show up or call 5/13/23 or 5/15/23. On 5/16/23 Daniel arrived with 2 workers and he explained to them how he wanted them to dig out the area and Daniel left them to work. They skimmed the top layer of grass in a small section of the area and they left after about 30 minutes. When I did not hear anything from Daniel about when they would be back, on 5/18/23, I texted Daniel with a picture of what had been done and asked when they would be back. Daniel replied he would be there today 5/18/23 to finish digging out and put crush and run in. They did not show up, and at 3:34pm I again texted Daniel for an update. Daniel replied they were running so hard, had decided to let them off but would be out tomorrow. 5/19/23 they no called no showed again. On 5/23/23 I again texted Daniel for an update or a refund if he was not able to get the job done. I let him know I was frustrated with his lack of communication and unreliability. He replied that he had labor shortages and would be out tomorrow to get everything prepped and lay pavers the day after. 5/24/23 Daniel texted me they couldn’t make it but would be out tomorrow. 5/25/23 the same two workers arrived and dug out a little more grass, leaving the dug up soil in a pile in the work area. Then they dumped 2 wheelbarrows of sand in the work area, which was not dug out completely yet. They left after about 45 minutes of work time, neglecting to clean up the sand they left in my driveway. I texted Daniel to ask him to pass on to his workers to not park in the driveway because of the debris they left behind. He replied with an apology and they would take care of cleanup tomorrow. 5/26/23 they no called no showed. On 5/30/23 Daniel texted it was too wet to work but they would be out tomorrow or Thursday, weather permitting. I did not hear anything back and after two weeks of no communication, on 6/12/23 I called Daniel and left a message asking for information. I got no response to my call, so I sent a text that afternoon, expressing my frustration with lack of communication and the mess left in my backyard for a month now. I again asked for an expected completion date or a refund of my money paid. Later that evening I got an email from Daniel’s secretary that they would be out Friday. I replied to the email on 6/13/23 reminding of the two sprinkler heads that still needed to be capped and letting him know there would be nobody home Friday to allow access to the irrigation system, requesting the work be moved to earlier in the week so it could be done right. As of today, 6/14/23, I have not received any response from Daniel regarding my request.

Daniel and his crew did an excellent job installing a crush and run gravel driveway and parking space. Due to lots of rainfall in Chesapeake, our backyard driveway had been full of mud tracks and much of the existing gravel had washed away. Daniel and his crew worked very hard, installing by hand heavy railroad ties to keep the gravel from slipping out, and installing lots of crush and run. He took responsibility, by returning to add more gravel a week later due to a good rainfall which left a few holes that needed filled in. It’s held up very nicely. We are very pleased with their work and commitment.

WARNING!! Do not use this company!! Please. Yes another victim of Daniel Painter. I wish I would have read these reviews prior. Took 50% of my money in May and started the job and then vanished for months. Claimed he lost phone numbers. Broken equipment, you name it he used it as an excuse of why he fell off the face of the earth. Now 3.5 months later struggling to get the job done. When he returned after many calls he shows with not even all the product we paid for and lied about the amount of product he brought. Caught his crew not putting down the weed matting I paid for and stated we did not need it and mulched over it. Really we paid for a product and he did not use it. We Paid for stone he didn’t deliver and lied about what he brought thinking we were stupid and then expected us to pay him for something he didn’t even bring!!! This Man contracts jobs takes your Money starts them and then your stuck with a job half done and then he piece meals the Remainder of the job to stretch out forever cause he can’t complete everything he commits to in a timely fashion. Please people DONT DO IT

"1st of all we done 3/4 of the 1st project which was stone I estimated on that project she wanted me and my guy to go swimming in the pool nacket which we did not my guy said he would not go back there again and he did not then she screamed out the window to the neighbor crossed the street which would get ready to do work for her and the neighbor said she didn't know of that she thought she was crazy also crazy also. In my line of business I come across people like this from time to time but I have to say she takes the cake you had to wait for the right stone that took over 30 days for it to come in because of all the other reasons with the pandemic going on I tell them to call the place where I get it from they would never do that so I don't everything I did I came back done everything I told her I would do she's a second individual she needs to get straight with her husband 1st"

He took my money and never completed the job. He started my project immediately in order to collect his 2/3 of my money ($1000), spending a total of only 6 hours at my house over two days in early December for a project he said would take 2-days - putting in a one car gravel driveway. He never came back, always giving some excuse for weather or broken equipment. Now, 6 weeks later my yard is a torn up muddy disaster, with two contractors telling me that he tore through cables and that is going to have to be fixed before they can put in the driveway, which, by the way, they will take no money for until the job is complete! I'm obviously suing him for all of my money back. If anyone wishes to join in a try and shut down his business again....

"They wanted us to level the driveway greeted out what she was holding about 2 to 3' deep and then put crush on run had no problem doing that however we do require a 1/2 down so we can get the money and that was when during the Winter they're the winner it rained for 2 months straight it's a straight and what little bit of time the sun did come out for A-day or half A-day he was mad because we were not there The whole place was flooded outlook several times was no way we can do anywhere until it stopped raining."

This was the worst compamy I had ever hired. Patio was to take 2 days to finish and 2 months later its not done. Danial was paid first a $900 deposit and cashed my check within 2 hours . He took 3 weeks to show up after he was paid the $900. They dug a 9-10 inches to set the pavers ( standard is 4-5 inches) when I said that’s too deep his response was he has been doing this type of work for 28 years ! Told me to stop picking on the work and let them do the job. Ending result a 9x10 patio ( paid for 12x12 ) that was laid 5 inches lower than the surrounding lawn. I paid him the balance due of $600 and they left. Than the rain came and I had a 9x10 pool in my yard as all the run off went right to the lowest place in the yard THE PATIO . I sent pictures to Dan and he said he would fix the patio and slope it away from the house including add rock and relay the pavers . They show up 5 weeks later take the pavers out throw them in my yard and leave saying they will be back with rock needed . 10 more days pass and his response to my question of when are you going to raise and put my patio back together, was well we are done and I am not fixing the patio. His last coment was I will see you in court !! So I paid 16 hundred dollars for a hole in my yard and pavers left thrown all over the place. Sorry this is such a long review but If I can make others aware of how Daniel treats his customers and takes their money without finishing the job . Please do not use his company or you might be stuck like me with a hole in your yard . Check out his reviews as that was my first mistake I did not do the same . His reviews speaks for his work
