As noted in my ratings, this service provider performed competently and in a timely manner.
My only complaint is the cost of the service. The hot water heater itself was about $600, so installation labor would be $400. In my opinion, that's a bit high for two hours of work. As a further example, he suggested replacing a shutoff valve for $160. Keep in mind, that's an $8 valve and two solder joints likely completed in 15 minutes. So again, cost is a bit out of range.

The repair work was top notch - the gas logs are back burning again and we no longer have a gas smell coming in the house when we open the line in the floor.  He used a protective layer of cardboard to work on and cleaned up afterwards.  However, his professionalism was subpar.   He was gruff, hostile, and condescending in his communication on the phone and in person.  The overall impression was that he resented being here and doing the work.   If you can handle a heavy dose of attitude with your repair work, then by all means, use this company.

Lee is my guy for any plumbing issue. He is the only person I would ever think of calling as he is completely trustworthy. It feels like you are calling your neighbor to come help you.

Person was on time and took care to protect inside of the house.
Explained the job and cost associated before work performed.
Was thorough and took steps to protest the surrounding area from contamination from cleaning materials and paint.
Got the project done in short order with minimal delays from not having right parts or necessary tools.

Lee came on the day and time that he said he would arrive. After looking at our fireplace, he estimated that the cost of repair would be $300 which would include a full cleaning and repositioning of the logs that were too close to the front of the glass. He arrived at 1 o'clock and said he didn't mind if I watched while he worked. After an hour though, I was called away. By 4 PM he had completely cleaned and restored the fireplace to its original condition and repositioned the logs so when it came on the flames didn't cause soot on the walls. He even restored some glowing embers underneath the logs that we didn't even know we're there! ? All in all a very pleasant experience and we would highly recommend and use him again.

Two years ago we had Lee install a gas line and gas stove when we were renovating our kitchen. He was extremely professional, efficient and punctual. At that time, we asked for a quote for replacing our hot water heater. He gave us the quote, but we decided to wait until several projects were completed. Two years later I called him back and mentioned the quote he had given us. He said he would honor that old quote. We wanted a gas hot water heater that had a longer 10 year warranty because they have a reputation for having better materials and manufacturing. He said he would have to special order that model, that it would take about a week to arrive, and we could set an installation date for the following week. He arrived exactly on time, installation went without a hitch, with no mess and no fuss. We also used him between these two jobs to service our gas log. He was here an hour after I called to service the gas log. Nothing beats professionalism and reliability.

No one better in Richmond metro area. I have used him several times and will call no one else.

Mr. Burgwin, the company owner, arrived on time, and checked the areas that I mentioned might be in need of adjustment. He was very efficient in checking and adjusting the fireplace. He placed some vinyl caulking on one of the lines leading to the burner. He left me feeling very confident about his repair skills.

My wife and I called Burgwin Plumbing (based on the positive reviews on Angie's List) to troubleshoot / f ix our gas fireplace that had stopped working. We were told there would be a $95 fee to come onsite and diagnose the issue. It would then
be time and materials to fix whatever was wrong with the system.
The plumber who came was very nice, arrived on time, and was very respectful of our home - including wearing paper booties to not track any dirt in to the house and doing a nice job of cleaning up after he was done.
He spent ~90 minutes determining what was wrong (including a call to the fireplace manufacturer for their advice when he was stuck). We were lucky, as it turned out to be a small issue which was the wall switch. The only switch he had was a different color than the other switches in the house and so he did not replace the switch and left that for me to do at a later time (which I was OK with).
Everything was fine .... until he handed us an invoice for $275 .... three times what he estimated!
I was not home when this took place, but tried calling the provider as soon as I arrived home - but it was a little after hours.
I did talk with the plumber the next day, and explained we were very disappointed that he charged us three times what he estimated without any communication. I felt that since he did not replace the switch that his activity was limited to diagnosis and that the $95 diagnosis fee should have covered what he did. Even if he had replaced the switch it would likely be a 15 minute job with a part cost of less than $10 and still should not have been anywhere near the $275.
He agreed that he could have communicated better but tried to tell me that with my fireplace the diagnosis WAS the fix so the cost would be more than just the diagnosis cost. Additionally, he repeatedly told me he would lose money if he only charged me $95.
I repeatedly told him that I have no idea what his costs are and that my expectations were set based on what he told me ... and if he cannot make money at $95 he should not have told me it would be $95.
(Note, I did have another company that quoted me $170 for all labor - which was to include diagnosis and any needed repair with me then paying for parts. So $95 for just diagnosis with repairs costing more did not seem ridiculously low or too good to be true. The only reason I did not use the other company is they were not available until the following week and Burgwin was available this week.)
At the end of the conversation, Burgwin's only offer of resolution was for him to come back out and install the switch at no additional charge. I told him that what I thought would be fair would be for him to live up to his original commitment and charge me $95. He responded by telling me that living up to his original commitment was and quot;not even in the ballpark of reasonableand quot;.
So for now I guess I am stuck with a bill for $275.

After trying to light the pilot light on our gas logs we researched repairers on Angie's list and picked Burgwin based on their rating. I called and made an appointment for him to check out our logs on Dec. 3. On Nov. 27 he called and said that he had an opening and came over promptly after his call. He spent some time examining the controller and fixed the problem quickly. Before he left, he made sure that the logs worked properly. We were extremely pleased with the service he provided and felt that it was a good value.

Lee Burgwin was able to respond to our service request very quickly. He located the source of the leak and repaired the same day. He also found and repaired another issue that had not been previously noted by other providers or the gas company. We have not had problems with our gas fireplace or appliances since his visit. We were very pleased with his work.

He indicated he would need to look at the back of the range (the recessed area) and the gas line coming through the kitchen wall before giving an estimate. Upon seeing it, he determined that he wouldn't need to cut the wall, just put a 90 or 45 degree angle piece on to direct to the line so it would fit in the range recess, said I was looking at about $200.
He proceeded to do that, and when pushing the range back it didn't go back as far as we were expecting. After pulling it out and back in a few times, he determined that the problem was the anti-tip bracket.
Called my wife, who wanted to talk to him because she thought the pipe would need to move. After a lengthy conversation with her and some more pulling in and out, we determined that the problem was the bracket. We could either deal with the inch and a half gap between the wall and top of the range, or remove the bracket and get the range much closer to the wall.
We made a decision, and we're good to go. I was expecting the price to increase some due to the extra time he spent pullng and pushing the range back and forth to appease us, but the price we paid was still $200.
We're happy with his work.

I needed a gas plumber within 24 hours to move a gas line behind my new range. Needed the work done before the floor refinishers came. The plumber that was recommended estimated $125- $150 but could not come within 24 hours so I called Mr Burgwin. He would not give me an estimate over the phone. Charges $75 to come out and give an estimate. If He gets the job then the estimate is applied against the total bill. Mr Burgwin arrived within a couple of hours. When he looked at the work to be done he estimated $250 - $350. I asked if he would give an Angie's List discount and he said no. I let him do the work because of my schedule and I was already out $75 for the call. He did an excellent job but I probably won't use him in the future because of the price. The final bill was $275 for a little less than two hours of work.

Lee and his helper first came to assess why the shower was only generating lukewarm water instead of hot. After identifying the manufacture of the mixing valve assembly, Lee called the manufacture and ordered the part. While Lee was here, I asked him about the slow drain and the shutoff valve, and he graciously gave me a price to fix both items when they came back to replace the mixing valve assembly. When the mixing valve assembly came, I called Lee to schedule a convenient time for both of us. A few days later, they came and completed the work. They are honest, respect the work area, and do good work!

The response was very fast and the work was completed immediately. The part itself was quite expensive which explained the cost.

Mr. Burgwin did a very good job. He had to completely redo the pipes under the kitchen sink as we went from a 2 bowl to a 1 bowl sink. The original install had pipes sticking out everywhere, Mr. Burgwin did a marvelous job of cleaning that up and making the space under the kitchen sink more usable. He also installed an outside hose bib and did an excellent job there too. He used quality parts and cleaned up afterwards. I would definitly use Mr. Burgwin again.

The job went very well.

When we had the house worked on, all the plumbing needed to be rehabbed. We had used another plumber. The plumber who put in the toilet didn't extend the wastepipe to fit the toilet correctly with the new flooring. The wax seal couldn't handle the pressure and blew out and leaked. He fixed it once and the problem persisted.
Burgwin Plumbing was able to fix it right away. His pricing was also very reasonable.

Great company to deal with. Lee Burgwin quoted me over the phone. We agreed on a day and time. He called before coming, showed up when he said he would, and replaced the water heater. He did a great job. He did exactly what he said he was going to do. You can't ask for anything better. Because of that, he'll be my first call should I ever need plumbing or gas work done.
Again, a great company to deal with. I highly recommend Burgwin Plumbing and Gas Fitting LLC.

Overall it was a positive experience. I would both hire him again and refer him to friends.

Lee was very responsive and came for the first time on Oct 26. He and his assistant repaired the existing gas log set as best they could and cleaned the system. I decided to replace the log system rather than complete the repair because it was not cost effective and I wanted a system with remote switch.
Lee provided me with a catalog of systems that he worked with and offered me the option of ordering through him or ordering direct. We selected the system we wanted and I priced it through several companies on-line. The price difference ordering from him versus a direct buy on the internet was less than $25 so I went with him.
He came back to install the new logs on Nov 19. Unfortunately, the company shipped the wrong log set. The lot number was exactly what he ordered but the contents were for a different set of logs. Lee spent over 30 minutes with the company in CA. He took pictures on his cell phone and emailed them to the company. They then understood that it was their error and agreed to send
replacement set. The replacement logs came in the following week but due to the Thanksgiving Holidays we waited to have them installed. Lee and his assistant returned on Dec 7 and completed the install. Everything is working great and we are very satisfied with the work. Incidentally, the initial charge to repair and clean the old logs was $85. Lee deducted this charge from the final bill when he installed the new logs.
The installation should have been completed in one visit but the screw-up by the Log Company caused him to have to make two calls. He never complained about this and was very professional throughout the whole process.
I highly recommend Burgwin Plumbing and I would definitely use them again for Gas Log work or regular plumbing work.
