The estimate was done promptly and as scheduled with the possible unknown areas detailed. They matched the difficulty of the job with the right crew and schedule the crew as close to the date I desired as possible. Once they arrived and started work, the potential problem areas were confirmed, the price quoted was less than expected. Both bathrooms used the same tile. In order to match the tile in both areas exactly, tile that was still in good condition from one bath room was salvaged for use in the 2nd bathroom. All "matching" tile was applied to the master shower and once the shower enclosure was reinstalled, no difference could be seen.
The work men arrived promptly and due to a deadline approaching for delivery of a new shower enclosure, the team made sure the work was completed and all grout cured prior to the install of the shower enclose.
I was always kept up to date by the office, and they have checked back to make sure there are no issues
I was very pleased with the results and the overall experience
I rescheduled the job for August 11, again preparing the room by removing all furniture, etc. The technician began immediately applying the sealant/stain without cleaning the floor. When I questioned this, he said that the steam cleaning had already been performed. Well, yes it had - on JULY 25! Any dirt, debris not picked up by my vacuum cleaner or simple little mop was getting painted right into the grout! I think I understand now why the first grout job did not last!
Since he did not even have a steam cleaner on his truck, we agreed to stop the job and call it a day.
I will never use Grout Medic again.
"We are very sorry that this customer had a bad experience with the job, and our company. The job was to re-apply a new stain color and fix grout where it was failing. First visit the technician did arrive on time and steamed cleaned floor and fixed the grout areas needed to be fixed. The technician did in fact bring the wrong color of stain, and we did reschedule for another visit. During the second visit the technician sweeped up and wiped down the grout lines by hand before applying the right color of stain. The customer asked him to stop and wanted the floor steamed cleaned before applying stain. The technician did stop the process and called supervisor for steamer, but customer wanted him to leave. Supervisor called customer and spoke about the issue and informed customer that a steamer could be brought out which would have taken 20 minutes at the most, but customer wanted to stop work all together. Customers review about work being done over dirt was exaggeration. The grout was colored sealed over 3 years ago, and was in excellent shape. The grout was in good shape 3 years ago when we stained the grout. The reason for this visit was to change the color because customer painted walls a different color, and noticed grout needed to be replaced because of cracking or crumbling, because some tiles are loose, which wasn't caused by stain being applied 3 years ago. When grout is colored sealed the grout becomes non porous and will not let dirt to seep in therefore all really is needed is a wipe down, and doesn't really need to be steamed cleaned. During the estimate the estimator realized that and only charged half the price originally charged, because it required a small amount of cleaning. Job could have been done same day during our second visit and didn't require another visit, but customer asked us to leave. We didn't charge customer anything for the cleaning and grouting which we did do on the first visit, and didn't charge anything on second visit. We are very sorry that customer wouldn't allow us to complete job even after telling customer we would re steam the grout again at no charge, and would bring a steamer out to job location, but it was her decision not to wait 20 min for a steamer to be brought out."
"Work done in March was with the previous ownership, and we took over ownership April 1st. All emails were sent to previous ownership and not the current owner. We had no idea there was an issue. We will be in touch with homeowner to see if we can correct the problem caused by previous owners and their staff."
Update: This company has been sold to another owner, and after emailing the company, the new owner reached out to me and is sending someone to evaluate. I will continue to update, but am pleased with his responsiveness so far.
