My husband and I are new home owners and a bit clueless (yes, I'm admitting that!). The second day in our new house, we found out around 5pm that we weren't getting any hot water. We called My Plumber and they had someone at our house by 7:00. The people I spoke with on the phone were very polite and kept me updated on the plumber's arrival time. When the plumber got to our house, he inspected our water heater and told us that he can fix it for $175.00, but the flame was going to be too high and it was dangerous to have it like that. He recommended that we get a new water heater. I asked how much it would be and he told us $2,300. As we really couldn't afford that price, I said to just fix it and we can deal with getting a new one later. He fixed the problem and then showed me how high the flame would be and stated again that it was dangerous to have it like that. I asked again if there was anything else to do and he said just get a new water heater. So, we ended up doing that. Now, again, we were working on about 4 hours sleep in the previous 36 hours and not thinking all that well. I didn't think to ask for a cheaper model or just go to Lowe's to buy one and use their free installation BUT, as much as My Plumber wanted to sell us a hot water heater, they should have showed us all of our options. Even though we didn't know or think about inquiring about other options, I feel as though we were taken advantage of (and still not recovered from paying that price!). On the positive side, the plubmer was nice and he kept the area clean. He didn't charge us for the initital repair he made to our old heater. I just can't shake the bad feeling that I still have about spending all of that money when everyone I talk to says we shouldn't have spent more than $800-$1,000 for a new hot water heater.

For the furnace, service was scheduled on a Friday between 12-6pm; they called at 5:45pm to tell me they were still on another job and were running late so I rescheduled for Monday 7:30-830am and I was be first on the list of calls. On Sunday, they called to tell me they could come over in 15 minutes but I wasn't home to respond. On Monday no one showed up by 8:30am so I went to work. At 9:30am, they called to tell me the technician was at my door, apologized and asked if I would I like to reschedule. I said no and told them I was not happy with their pricing or scheduling. The dispatcher was nice and said she make management aware of the situation, but it is unlikely I will use their services again.

Since this was only a temporary fix I agreed to have them come back to uncover the line and clean out the remaining roots. I liked the fact that they were going to hand dig and not tear up my yard with a machine. I was surprised when only 1 person showed up. This was at best a two man job. After six hours of digging for 30 minutes and resting for 30 the exhausted tech discovered that My Plumber had not correctly marked the location of the pipe and he had been digging the trench at the wrong place. He came back the next morning and started digging in the right spot. At around 1:00pm he was finally joined by a second tech and by mid-afternoon of day 2 they finally uncovered the pipe. They did clean out the roots and finally finished about 6:00pm on day 2.
A week later I had a foot deep hole where the fill over the trench had settled.
I will not be using them again.

Unfortunately we were closed on Labor Day, although it is only one of the few days a year we are closed, this does not excuse the lack of communication. After removing the top from the tank, he stated, "I can make this like new by replacing these two rusty screws in the tank." When I inquired about the price---he used his technologically sophisticated tablet to inform me $432. When the services were declined, he told me he would call his boss for consideration---this required an antiquated trip to his vehicle (no cell phone here in my presence). When he returned, he explained that he could perform the service for $306. Great discount!!! I can purchase the parts from Lowe's for $5... or I can have a NEW toilet installed by Lowe's for $250----$100 for the toilet and $150 for install. Maybe someone from My Plumber should contact Lowe's and search ways to reduce their overhead... or maybe I should get a magnetic sign and a pair of overalls... since I was charged $79.50 for 8 minutes of work----equating to $540 an hr... I could quit my day job.

I did feel strongly enough about this that I filed a complaint with the BBB.
I received a phone call from a My Plumber representative one evening last week. She was selling their inspection service. She said the $49 cost of the comprehensive inspection of my home's plumbing would be deducted from the cost of any work that needed to be done. I told her that I wasn't experiencing any plumbing problems other than a slightly slower than usual drain in my kitchen sink. She said they would find out what was wrong. I had had the same problem in my bathroom sink drain a few years ago and so I had an expectation of what the cost of clearing the drain would be.
Two plumbers arrived at 8:15 for an 8:00 appointment this morning.
They briefly ran the water in the kitchen sink that had the intermittent slow draining issue. That was the only issue I had mentioned in the conversation I had with the telephone solicitor/scheduler who had called me last week. They conducted a perfunctory inspection of the bathroom sink/toilet, water pressure outside and the element in my hot water heater. All this, no doubt, to find some other way to sell one of their overpriced products or services. Less than 20 minutes after arriving, they got around to telling me that clearing the drain in the kitchen sink would cost close to $500... far above the cost I expected based on similar work done a few years ago. I paid the $49 for their 15 minutes of checking around. That's the equivalent of $196 an hour. I asked that they let the office know I do not want them to call me again to solicit my business. I then called two other plumbers from Angie's list and asked the cost of clearing a kitchen drain. Both of them offered a price that was at least half of what My Plumber quoted and more in line with what I expected from the last time I paid for the same work.
I had not called My Plumber, they called my home telephone number. In light of the fact that they charge an inflated price for work that other plumbers do at a reasonable cost, it is even more inappropriate for them to be solicit that overpriced service by calling people at home in the evening with news of their "special." There is nothing "special" about overcharging people. But the most telling indicator of how very little this business cares about good customer service is that, when I called the scheduler back to let her know I did not wish to be contacted by their sales people ever again, she didn't sound surprised and she didn't ask "why?" That surprised me almost as much as did the plumber's off-the-chart price quote. I would never recommend My Plumber to anyone. In fact, I will strongly advise anyone I personally know to immediately end any call they receive from My Plumbers sales team. There are many good plumbers in our area doing honest work at a fair price. My Plumber is not one of them.

DO NOT USE THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They work on FIXED PRICES FOR JOBS and THEIR FIXED PRICES ARE 4-5 times higher than Time and Material priced firms
They wanted to charge me 485 dollars for this water header CLEANING --- When we called them we did not know why the heater pilot would not start - we looked at everything so we called . they said it would be 76 dollar service fee - OK - he came and then said that he needed to clean it out (found soot on the air vent) -- took 1/2 hour or so - no parts - the bill was presented as 478 dollars - I almost fell over --- called their management - "our prices are not negotiable" --- so finally after yelling, he took it down to 378 dollars (military discount?") BUT IT WAS STILL WAY TOO MUCH given a plumber makes 120 dollars an hour or less.
DO NOT USE THEM !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ONLY USE IF THEY WILL DO TIME AND MATERIAL PRICING

I called them and set up an appointment (more like a window of time). I called multiple times to find out when they'd come or to narrow the window. Of course, I was the last customer of the day and he arrived promptly and the very end of the promised appointment window. (Technically he showed up on time!)
Anyway, he was very polite and wore slippers in the house to prevent from soiling the floors. I walked him through what I wanted done - replace some very old ball valves and an outdoor spigot. About 10 mins later, he offered me a quote (with an active duty military discount). It was a little higher than what I expected by about $50 but not unreasonable so I went ahead with the work.
He was meticulous in his work and verified the quality by testing each repair. He was very nice and asked if there was anything else he could do while he was there. I can confirm that a month later, the work he did was solid and my valves and spigot work great. I would definitely use them again for my plumbing needs.
