Dear [member name removed], Thank you for taking the time to write us directly after leaving comments on Angie’s List. We will cancel your account immediately and will not provide any further services. I would like to take a moment to address the issues you have raised in an effort to bring some clarity. The service dates when we treated your property are as follows: 4/21, 5/8, 5/15 complimentary respray, 6/1, 6/12 complimentary respray, 6/22, 7/10, 7/17 complimentary respray, 7/30, 8/21, 9/14, 10/5, 10/27. On 11/4 we received your email and letter requesting cancellation. We provided the 10 regular sprays on schedule and each time you called and requested a respray, we came the following day. This is excellent service. This past May through August we experienced an unprecedented amount of rain in the DC area with over 96 days with of some form of precipitation totaling more than 16 inches . Despite the difficulties the weather presented, we always came on schedule and always performed your respray requests within 24 hours. I can appreciate the fact that the mosquito population increased and that there were more to control however, every single time you requested a respray, we came and took care of it. You mentioned that you had bites “which left horrible scars on (your) arms and legs.” Mosquito bites do not leave such scars. The weather brought with it an abundance of chiggers this season. Chiggers do in fact leave welts and itch for several weeks leaving behind dark red scars. Many people confuse chigger bites with mosquitos since they itch like mosquitos and occur while outdoors . I have included a Chigger Fact Sheet, which has many photos of what the welts look like. It sounds very much like you are describing chigger bites on your body. I do take exception to one assertion you made in particular. You said, “Even with phone calls (Mike Garcia never responded to any of my messages) and additional sprays, the problem continued.” We have office personnel and a live answering service to handle overflow 24-7. The only records we have of you calling were requests for resprays, which again, we always handled promptly. Clearly we did respond immediately to your messages. Perhaps you inadvertently called a different location or something else, but we have records of every single incoming call and we have live operators who answer them. Additionally, we do not have any record of any email requests that you made either. You also referenced our 100% satisfaction guarantee, which we stand by 100%. Specifically the guarantee reads as follows: “Your complete satisfaction is important to us. If you are not completely satisfied with your mosquito control spray, contact your Mosquito Squad office within 21 days of application for a re-spray at no additional charge or a refund of 100% of your barrier spray payment.” The guarantee stipulates that if you are still having issues after your most recent spray, contact us within 21 days of that spray, and we will provide a re-spray at no cost to you. We did in fact honor this at least three different times this season when you called. In the event that you are not satisfied with the re-spray, then we give you the option to cancel the service and refund the cost of that treatment. The guarantee does not say, and never intended to say that a customer can contact us in November, say that they were never really happy, and then expect a refund. Obviously no company could survive for long with such a policy. Since you did contact us within 21 days of your last treatment, I will be happy to send a crew for a free respray or else forego that and simply refund the cost of one spray. [member name removed] we have always treated you respectfully and with excellent service, providing at least 13 treatments this season. Every time you contacted our office to request a respray, we were there within 24 hours to complete that spray. I apologize that you feel that you have been mistreated in any way. If there is something that you did not bring up in your letter which made you feel that way, then please call me and let me know so that I can make it right. We did spray every three weeks on schedule throughout the season as promised and we did perform numerous free resprays at your request. We are always happy to come back out in the event you are having issues in-between sprays and we always came within 24-48 hours of your additional requests. I am sorry you are still not satisfied with the service. When our operations manager met with you the same day you called last week, he indicated that you desired some sort of refund. [member name removed] called on May 12, 2014 and requested a ONE-TIME event spray and paid a discounted rate of $202.50. The standard price is $225. The pro-rated amount for seasonal barrier spray service (which she did not have or pay for) is currently $499. We also offer military and senior citizen discounts as well. Our rates have been consistent for 7 years now, and I am happy to say have not increased at all during that time.
