JC and Son were great to work with on our very large landscaping project (mainly sod and drainage systems). JC was very responsive and our job was actually completed nearly a month ahead of schedule. The work was scheduled to take a week and only took 4 days. We received 2 other quotes and selected JC and Son based on their understanding of the work requested and price / cost. We would definitely use them again.

Very satisfied with their craftsmanship. I was very happy to see the water from the rain flowing away from the house, off the patio and into the grass. Thats exactly what’s supposed to happen. My backyard is very uneven; I was happy to confirm that my sitting wall is well leveled and very sturdy. Pricing was great and the military discount that they offered made it even better. They also warranty their work for 5 years; so you pretty much can’t go wrong with these guys. Hey, my wife is happy and that’s all that matters. Happy wife, happy life. Thanks Guys!

I'm going to write another review when my job is complete, but I just wanted to write a review while in the beginning stages of my patio/landscaping project. I've been looking for someone for 15 years to build a patio for me. Well life happened And put things on hold, and the few quotes that I received, were either astronomical or I just didn't get good vibes. needless to say I've been very nervous about this project, because It's literally the last project for my home, and the most important one to me.JC and son listened to me from the very beginning and we were on the same page. They started work last week with all of the drainage issues I was having and laying down lots of rock in my flower beds and preparing for the patio. materials came in this week, and aside from the edge landscaping of the patio That still needs to be complete, all the pavers are laid and complete! next up is stairs, a ceiling under my deck, and electrical. what's most amazing, besides their attention to detail, is they've dealt with my stress level when I realized the one type of pavers I requested were larger than I expected. The picture in the brochure was misleading and it's my own fault for not reading the size. So JC and son spent some time with me yesterday to come up with a new border design, to make the second, smaller paver more prominent. I've always wanted a European cobblestone look, since I've lived in Germany half my life, and was so mad at myself for not researching the other paver correctly. Today, I know I drove them nuts, because I asked them to add even more of the smaller pavers even though they had already cut the design from the larger ones. I appreciate them dealing with my insanity and desires for a specific design. It's just been so many years that I worked so hard to get to make this outside space happen. I basically live outdoors at my home and love gardening, and they're making my vision come together. I can't wait to give my final review. Just come up with your design and get the details on paper, and be honest about what your budget is, and they will listen. They're professional, hardworking, fast, and have very reasonable prices. Even when I threw a wrench in the plan yesterday and they had to stop so we could regroup for the second pavers, they went over to my neighbor to whom I referred them, and got a job done immediately for her. She was so thankful. Finally, if they can put up with my nagging the last couple of days, they should get 20 stars and not 5. And the nagging is not because of anything they've done wrong, it was just simply because we were in the design phase, and I wanted every last detail to be correct. I appreciate their patience.

As part of installing our pool, we needed landscaping to help finalize the project. I contacted Juan who came to our residence to talk about ideas for landscaping that would provide a nice look but yet offer low maintenance. He was early to both appointments and provided excellent ideas. The project involved grading, putting down top soil, installing 9 pallets of sod, constructing 3 paver walkways, constructing a paver landscaping border completely around the fence so the sod would be approximately 2 feet from the fence, installing landscaping fabric all around the pool areas, and filling the area around pool with approximately 60 CU yards of 2-4 inch river rock. Juan was very flexible in adding items to the project. One example was adding the three paver walkways from each gate into the pool area. We have a specific color of rock and stone on the pool and were very concerned that all materials needed to blend and flow throughout the project. I emphasized this to Juan and he provided me with pictures and ideas for picking out paver colors and patterns. Juan was spot on â the colors and patterns were fantastic. His crew installed the walkways just great with a perfect finish. I had to add rock to certain areas and Juan was great in seeing that this happened. I had numerous phone calls with Juan and he was very good at reading and responding to text messages so thoughts and concerns could be addressed. He always addressed my thoughts or concerns in a very timely manner and always provided a successful solution to any concerns and problems. The project was started on time and was completed in a very very timely manner to my 100% satisfaction. His crews were Great! They showed up early in the morning and worked the entire day except for a small lunch break. They were very good hard working men. With adding new items to the project, I expected price increases and Juan was very fair with prices and I feel we got great value for our money. We had approximately 25 plants/shrubs installed and Juan told us to go and pick out the plants at his recommend nursery and he would pick up and transport to the job site. Because of using this nursery, we were able to receive a 25% discount because of Juan’s company. Juan provided instructions for maintaining the sod and plants. We are 100% COMPLETELY SATISFIED!! with JC and Son Contractor and the completed project . It looks Great and we would highly recommend them for such projects. We will have future projects and will not hesitate to use them again. Thanks!

Excellent... Workers happily followed all directions from the home owner. Also, company was able to respond to the service date on short notice. Much appreciated!

I would not recommend this contractor and strongly advise you to beware of the tactics they will use to get more money from you. We contracted a large under deck patio extended away from the house with a fire pit and 40 ft. double sided patio wall. This was a lump sum contract worth thousands of dollars. With allowances for Covid and weather, it took JC & Sons much longer to do this job than promised and they never returned to do a punch list or complete the job. They did not return calls or texts for a weeks, blamed materials, the weather and us for delays, and eventually stopped communicating. 1. Incorrect and insufficient materials were ordered and they asked us to pay for it. 2. They ordered one-sided Nico block for a 40 ft. two-side wall. 3. They underestimated the amount of pavers and caps needed and asked us to pay for more. 4. Some Nico block stones were damaged and installed. . 5. Large gaps between the stones on the wall and contractor refused to correct or fill the gaps. 6. None of the installed drainage works. Water seeps between the wall gaps but nothing comes out of the PVC drainage pipes. 7. Contractor trucks left large ruts in our grass, that were not adequately filled as promised. 8. Retaining wall was built incorrectly without any fill in the stones and without rocks for drainage. 9. Some of the polymer on pavers came out immediately and needed to be redone. 10. Drains for retaining wall does not work. In spite of offering JC & Sons, not to write a negative review if they would finish the job, they did not.

Sod & light grading

OUTSTANDING!!!! JC & Son helped us to achieve the overall landscape renovation we wanted. They brought great ideas to the project and were exceptionally responsive to our wishes. I felt that I was working with a trusted partner. The owner was intimately engaged in the project at all phases and brought exceptionally hard-working crews to get the job done. At all stages of the project, I felt I was getting excellent value for my money. I highly recommend JC & Son. I will most definitely use them again.

Overall the end result is good. There was some hic-up in the final product expectations as far as turf being installed. And a cheaper out door carpet was installed. But Juan was fast to install the correct material. As far as the painting, the painter was professional and fast. Tho I do feel for a 1 man labor for a day was over priced. He did do a decent job.

Response after initial contact was immediate. Pricing was competitive. Crew was punctual and completed the job in one day. End result was exactly what we'd hoped for. Will be hiring JC & Son for all of our future landscaping needs.

Juan Carlos, the owner, did a terrific job. He gave us good suggestions and a fair price. His team worked very hard and carefully to do everything within the proposal. We've used this contractor extensively and have been very pleased with the results.

JC and his team did a great job at a very reasonable price. They continue to take care of our lawn and are reliable. When there was a small misunderstanding they corrected immediately. I will continue to use and trust them.

Have used JC and Son for three different projects, along with them doing the typical lawn service throughout spring/fall. Juan (owner) has been pleasant with me. When we have had disagreements, we work it out in a civil manner and come to a agreeable solution. When the staff is here to do work, they are efficient, and focus on the job at hand. We do have issues with the sod, and subsequent growth, and the company is dealing with it. The back yard path that was laid ( initial path to the deck, then this year extended it through the back) is phenomenal - lovely to look at, blends into the environment, durable, and well installed. Even my dogs like it! Because the pandemic has had impact on all things, materials have taken longer than expected to be available, so work start on projects has been delayed (this is systemic throughout industries- other projects with other companies are experiencing the same). I was advised up front) But once work is started, it is completed within a short period of time. It's is a worthwhile company, that cares about its employees, they are not -day workers- but instead part of the JC and Son business. That to me is an important part of a company: knowing who is working for you, and being able to rely on those people.

The work was done very well and quickly and for a fair price. Juan Carlos has done a great deal of work for us and has always done an excellent job.

JC and Son did a fantastic job putting in a French drain and sod. They were very responsive to texts, professional, and I’d definitely hire them again.

Our home sits on a sloped property that was desperately in need of good drainage and pathways since you couldn’t even walk out there without slipping. I had them put in one paver path that went from the driveway to the back deck stairs. We were so impressed with the quality of work that we had two more paths put in and a full patio with a seating wall! It is absolutely beautiful and was finished in just two days. They went beyond and added in some free sod to fill in trampled or dug out grass areas and cleaned up afterwards. We are so incredibly happy and it’s well worth what we paid. Now we can entertain friends and family outside for years to come. I am already having neighbors ask about getting JC and sons contact info. Also it is very important to be very specific about what you need done and what your expectations are. They are willing to go the extra mile to put a smile on your face.

The owner of this company asked for half down and half when the project was finished. After a couple months I contacted him to no avail, then my fiancé sent him a text him and he responded the same day. Then he provided false information as to the HOA approval process. I hired him for a fence and some landscaping. All of the things I originally asked for when we first agreed he assured me that I should go his way. The drainage system has a shirt on one side and each side though exactly the same when he started looks tacky and different. The fence is not the one in the picture we discussed and it has large nails sticking out of it. My neighbor complained that it wasn't well done and one of the boards fell off the next day. He told me not to listen to the neighbor and that each job had one mistake after they finished. Mine had several. The lock on the gate was rusted when he installed it and I can't even open it. They left my yard with spots barren of grass after he insisted that they would clean everything up and seed areas without grass. There were so many rocks left in the yard that we couldn't even mow it. I complained and he said the he would extend my warranty and fix all the issues that I brought up. Then he proceeded to stop answering texts and phone calls. His big concern was his Angie's List rating and he wanted me to rate him even before he fixed everything.

Hired this company through home advisor to replace my old fence. The work done was horrible and it seems this company hired a sub contractor to do the work for him. I called Jose afterwards and asked him to come see the issues with the fence. Nails meant to be driven into boards were sticking through the other side, huge chunks of wood missing from the fence, the gate had nails driven all the way through so you could cut yourself, bent boards. Jose agreed the work wasn't done correctly and he would be back in a few days and never showed and stopped answering phone calls from me. Almost a year later, I called him again and this time he answered, stated he would have to go back to the office to find my file but promised he would call me back and never did. I involved home advisors and he said he didn't build my fence, but I had a contract that shows he did and my fence has a 5 year warranty. When Home advisors called him back with this information, he hung up on them and refused to speak to them, so they removed him as a contractor and asked that I review this company on Angie's list to warn others of this poor contractor.

General lawn care and yard clean-up

C and Sons did a very nice job on our new landscape project. The work scope was extensive and they performed professionally and in a timely manner. The price was fair and competitive. Juan Carlos, the project manager, was attentive to our questions and appreciative of our input. He did a good job in keeping us posted on delays due to material availability. We plan to use JC and Sons on a larger patio project in the near future.

UPDATE - Oct 2021. They installed our french drain in Aug 2020, but experienced drainage problems in Feb 2021 and contacted JC and Sons. Due to covid, they requested that I follow up in April - which was not a problem as it's been a crazy time. Made contact in May and they were supposed to call back later that day - once they checked their schedule, but have heard nothing from them since then. We understand COVID challenges, have been very flexible, and had patience, but believe that 8 months is more than sufficient time to survey the issue and develop a corrective action plan Again, we understand that COVID has created new challenges - from supply chain to resources and everything between, we have been flexible and aligned expectations accordingly, but after many attempts to schedule over many months I feel ignored and not valued as a customer. I will continue to contact the company in order to attempt my french drain issues but am concerned by past experiences. Overall, the projects went very well. The project manager (PM) met and explained the work to be performed. PM took the time to share his experience and provided feedback when asked questions. For example, PM explained - in a way that I understood - when to use fabric when to use gravel in the trench, and the difference between the different types of pipe being used (non-perforated for the slope from the catch basin at the fence line to improve water movement from problem areas). Also, when I noted my concern regarding the path of the drain (an alternate path was used due to extensive established roots), PM reassured me that it would not be an issue, and if it became one, they would address it.
