I rarely write a review, however, because I selected Armor Fence based on previous reviews, I owe it to the future customers who could benefit as I did. I found Armor Fence very professional, honest, and experienced. I was hesitant to trust a small business for a large project, but went ahead because of the great reviews they had received from their past customers. They installed aluminum fence, with three large piers, ornamental front section with large 16 feet Estate Gate and two smaller gates. I could have not been more pleased with their work. Hal Mergler was the project manager assigned to the work. I signed the contract with him, and he managed it immaculately from the start to the finish. He is extremely passionate about his work, which at times could be misconstrued as pushy or aggressive. In one review, someone had said he is racist. This is far from the truth, since I never felt that his conduct was guided with his passion for his work. What I liked about Hal was that he rolled up his sleeves and got down to work with his team who were from different races and backgrounds. He unloaded the truck with his team and made way for them to begin their work. He treated them with respect and as partners. He is brutally honest and straight shooter which some may not be able to comprehend. I hesitated at first to go with his advice, but after a bit of my own research and talking to Mike Stanley, the VP, I went along. Hal was right and the outcome was awesome! Mike Stanley who is the VP at Armor fence is a soft-spoken and consummate professional. Although I never met him in person, over the phone he comes across as a person with good energy, honest and very respectful. He is extremely helpful in providing an overall view of the project, timelines, and guidance whenever needed. Due to the pandemic, the vendor delayed the shipment and Mike personally called me and assured me that this is a temporary set back and as soon as the materials are received, he will schedule the installation. While I signed for a 16 ft gate with 6ft height, he called and recommended the 8 ft height as more appropriate and I went with his advice and I could not be happier. The installation of the fence took less than 2 days. They cleaned after their work and left only after everything was completed to the spec. The piers took a bit longer due to the stone installation, but the outcome was just as I had imagined it. I shouldn’t forget Chrissy who coordinated the schedules and processed the invoice and payment. She was pleasant and helpful. I’m extremely happy with their work and I will not hesitate to refer them to all my family and friends. I hope this is helpful for all those who read it and help you with your decision. You will find such a team in northern VA who could handle large projects with such ease. Thanks to Armor fence team for a job well done! S. Omar

Installers arrived on the wrong day. They did not have the lot marked so they had to estimate (guess) where the corners are located. Some of the wood are bowed, split/cracked. Found out that they did not get the permit to install from the county.

from the free estimate to the last post cap, Armor was professional and very responsive via phone/text. Very competitive pricing. Knocked out the old fence removal and 50ft new fence/gates install in one day. Dealt with an awkward lawn slope. Highly recommend.

Armor made the whole process very easy. Gary, the sales rep was very quick in getting back to me on my original request for bid. He came out on my schedule, was extremely professional, engaging and thoroughly explained the process and answered all of my questions. He handed me a formal quote on the spot and had an HOA package to me within 24 hours. Armor was the most responsive to my original inquiry and had by far the lowest price of the for vendors I got quotes from. On the day of the job, there was a two man crew and they worked very hard throughout the day, always had smiles on their faces, and did a great job. The fence looks great, and removal and cleanup of the old fence was done very well with no debris of any kind left behind.

I did not have Armor Fence install the aluminum fencing because I decided to go with a different product. I wanted to leave a review anyway, due to the professionalism and positive experience I had working with Armor Fence, while i gathered estimates and information that help me make the decision of the best way to complete my fencing project. I worked with Matt McGuckin, he was very helpful, knowledgeable and pleasant. I would recommend using Armor Fence and Matt to anyone looking to purchase and install fencing.

Tim took the time to explain the process, provided all the necessary paperwork for our HOA approval process, kept me informed throughout the process as well. We ran into a small delay due to rotted wood on our home and he let me know the steps to remedy. The work was finished in a timely manner and the deck is amazing!

So not happy with these folks. I got a fence installed 2 years ago. Wooden with wooden gate. As well as some chain link gate replacements. Communication and follow up were marginal at best. About 6 months ago I needed them to come back and fix (which I was glad to pay for) the gate, which kept coming out of balance and not shutting properly. I called and emailed them and got no response. Crickets. I finally called MC Fence in leesburg and they installed a new non wood gate. I have several more projects to complete and will NOT be using armor. They lost a good customer to their lack of customer service

After getting several quotes from various decking companies, I went with Armor Fence because a) the Project Manager was very professional - I didn't need to be home from him to take a look at my back yard to draw up the design and quote for the deck; b) was the only Project Manager to provide me with a detailed/itemized quote; c) helped me fill out my HOA forms; d) this company went to the County to obtain the permit; and e) had current Class A business licenses from all surrounding counties with appropriate levels of insurance coverage. The project went very well considering a few delays due to weather, needing water to mix the cement, and a miscommunication in flooring board color. My deadline was by Thanksgiving and the crew met the timeline even with the previously mentioned delays. The Project Manager was very responsive to ALL questions and concerns. I have already recommended the Project Manager and this company to several people. I will definitely use them again when I'm ready to plan my patio project.

Can not say anything but great.  Tim came on time for the estimate and got back tome quickly.  He even pointed out a way that we could level the sag in the deck at no additional expense.  He delivered the estimate quickly and it was the most complete explanation of the work to be done, but also was the lowest cost.

The fence crew was first and did an outstanding job.  The lay of the land was no the easiest and the crew did fantastic.  The fence looks great.

The step's crew came the next day and did an equally great job.  Quick and it looks good.

I would recommend Armor Fence for any work..

I started the quote process on May 8, 2015 and work finally began on the week after July 6, 2015. I liked the project manager from the start. He seemed like a very quality person. He was very friendly but it was clear that he did not take notes on requirements. I requested an update to the quote 5 times. Even then I was not confident that he had captured our requirements so I added an addendum to his contract with my documented requirements when I signed the contract. I selected Armor Fence over several other vendors because their price was better than everyone else by several thousand dollars. This seemed like a simple job so I felt like the other companies were overcharging. I think I misunderstood the level of complexity of the job.

The first problem was the crew that started the work removed more wood that we had requested and anticipated. They also had some severe quality issues. When I contacted the project manager, he was resistant to come to the site. He asked that I send pictures. Even looking at the pictures, he acknowledged the issues. He came to the sight and said they would fix it. I will give credit that it did not charge me for all their mistakes and poor quality and did acknowledge the issues. He had another crew to come more than a week later who did a much better job. They tore everything down and started over. Even they acknowledged how bad the quality was of the work. This crew did a much better job and asked me throughout their work if I was happy with the progress.

When the windows arrived, they had not been measured properly by the project manager. They did not fit properly. The crew told me they were to short. They were able to shim and caulk them but it was clear they were not measured well. Two of the windows were triangles and they were way off. The team had to add new boards to built out the windows to even get them to fit. The new door was off by almost an inch. The project manager said the door should be 35 inches. I measured while on the phone with him and it was 36 inches. He was very surprised. The two teams he had come out clearly told me that we should have changed the design to the steps. They were not built well originally. They said they told the Project Manager SEVERAL times that it was bad and needed fixed. He never said a word to me so I will have problems again in the future.

I requested lightening be installed in the steps. The team did a great job installing the lights. They look great but they did not go on a switch like all the other vendors had in their quotes. They were plugged into a wall outlet. When I questioned it, the project manager said he would have had to hire an electrician to do that. Yes! Now, I am paying an electrician to update it correctly. They also removed the gutters even though we requested they not. I had to hire another contractor to install new ones. They did offer to do that but it was over $100 more than what it cost for me from a different vendor.

When the windows arrived, I had requested the upgraded screens. They were the standard screens. EZE Breeze windows are 4-track vertical vinyl windows. The project manager said I never asked for the updated screens once I requested a credit as the other screens cost more. He said I never requested upgraded screens and questioned how I even could tell. I could tell because it was the wrong part number and the screens are completely different style. I clearly showed him in my e-mails where I requested a revised quote for the screens and it was included in my addendum to the contract. It was clear he had never read it. He did absolutely nothing to fix the issue or even apologize for the mistake. Now I have to figure out how to fix it myself. The door was also the wrong color (white instead of bronze) but that was not his fault. The order form showed it should have been the correct color. That added another several weeks.

I was having trouble with the project manager as he never comes to the site and I basically managed the project. I discovered that "his crews" are actually independent contractors or subcontractors. I tried to call the office to complain only to discover that there may not be an office. They have an answering service when you call. You tell them your name and they call the Project Manager for you. If you want to complain, there is no one to escalate issues to. I should have realized when the Project Manager had a Hotmail address versus a company e-mail like every other company I contacted. For all I know, he may not even work for the company. There was no way to find out. I asked to talk the owner with answering service and they could not tell me who that was.

I really liked the teams he sent the second and third times. They clearly would acknowledge the problems and would work as hard as possible to make it look nice. They were really good and worked hard to do a good job. If you want low cost and the job is simple, these is your firm. The price is good. If you have complex work, go to another vendor.

It went well.  The wooden fence is beautiful and amazing.  The chain link is not the same quality and strength as what was originally there.  The wire that runs along the bottom of  the chain link was not installed correctly and after a delay of a few weeks, it got rectified.  The fence installers were very tidy and cleaned up all their mess.  Worked hard the entire day.

Well, it depends on which side of the fence you are looking at.  One crew did a decent job on the left side.  The other side is extremely uneven so much so that the gate didn't hang straight but at an angle.  When I called to express concern my concerns were listened to and then the response was "So, can we get that final payment from you?"  Really?  I asked them if this work was representative of their company, and he agree to at least rebuild the gate so it was straight.  He said the right side of the fence goes up and down like a roller coaster track because my lot is uneven.  I expressed dismay that I wasn't given some options when he did the estimate such as 1) keep it level at the top but stair step it down when the lot level changes (like 99%) of the fences in my neighborhood or 2) keep it level at the top and I could get fill dirt to even up the bottom.  I have tried numerous times to contact this company and express my dissatisfaction.  Their only concern is NOT to fix the issue but to get their money.  Buyer beware.

Took a few calls to get a person to come out, but they finally made it.  Tim showed up on time.  Provided an estimate for both resurfacing with composite and replacing the entire deck with composite.  To save some money the quote was for Trex select, the lowest quality product, and did not include hidden fasteners and post caps.  Tim was very flexible in working with me on options and ideas. The resurfacing quote was just a couple of hundred dollars above the winning bid (which included a better Trex product, Transcend, hidden fasteners, and post caps).  The quote for a total replacement was about $1,000 more than the winning bid and with the lower quality product.  So, we did not use this company when we decided to replace the entire deck.

Estimate was promptly provided after request.  Price was competitive.  I had 8 estimates; they were not the most expensive and not the cheapest.  Closer to the bottom than the top.  Start time slipped once due to weather.  Crew started on time as scheduled.  Crew was professional and all about business.  Clean up was thorough.  I am delighted with my fence.  I would use Atlas again and will recommend to others.

Getting an estimate went well. After we confirmed we would use their services, I was not informed of the specific day that the workmen would start. So one morning at 7:30 tractor trailer full of supplies showed up at my house with no prior notice. That was inconvenient but not terrible. The workmen showed up for the deck that day but then failed to show up or call for a few days later. The workmen who completed the fence showed up one day and completed the project the same day. No problem there. However, the workmen who were working on the deck seemed to show up for a day and then not for a few days after. Finally, the workman called to let me know he couldn't access our property because of issues with the gate. But instead of calling me on the spot so I could take care of the problem then, he waited a few days to call. When the workmen completed the deck it was very late at night. So they left without cleaning up after themselves. There was trash left in the yard and nails too. Trash is ok, but definitely not nails, especially when I have small children. Also, the dirt around the posts out under the deck instead of packing it back around the posts after they were finished.
