The tech showed up in a timely fashion and ran a diagnostic test of my cable modem and determined that the return signal from the outside box was severely underperforming. He then went to the box and for a temporary fix, simply moved my line to a different connector (8 available connections, apparently). He then rechecked the cable from inside and found that the problem was fixed, as the return signal was within acceptable parameters. He stated that a tech would be sent out to fix the outside connector itself, at a later time, but that I would not need to be present for that. As this was a Comcast equipment problem, as opposed to a hardware or software problem on my end, there would be no charge to me. Further, according to the tech support rep whom I spoke to on the phone the night prior, after the service tech files the report, I should be able to put in for a pro-rating of my bill for the several days that I had connectivity problems. In addition to this problem, I had also dropped my cell phone the night prior to service, thus leaving me without a phone with which to receive the verification call from the service tech in the morning. As such, I had to get online and go through the chat service via the Comcast home page (luckily, I was able to connect at that time - it was hit-and-miss) in order to have the service tech informed that I was not able to receive the call, but that I was in fact home to allow him in for repairs. I was a little disappointed that I had to wait in a queue, 7th in line, given the time critical nature of the matter - appt window - and there was not a tab for asking about service/appt issues, so had to first route through an internet tech support rep, who had to pass me on to another rep to handle my specific issue, but both chat reps were exceedingly polite - one upside of having your call center in India! The second rep was able to get the information passed along to the service tech and he was at my house within about 15 mins of getting off of chat - which by that time was actually after my 30 min window in which he was originally supposed to have arrived, but did not, given that I wasn't able to answer my phone to verify that I was home. In this instance, and for this issue, I was very pleased, overall, with how the matter was handled by Comcast.
