Window Service, Door Service, Siding Service,

About us

At Window Nation, we know replacement windows. We’re third-generation window replacement experts who have been lucky to provide homeowners replacement windows, siding, and doors for over fifteen years. We opened our first showroom in Maryland in 2006, quickly growing to serve homeowners in cities across the country – and we’re not stopping there. We’re grateful for every homeowner who has trusted us to upgrade their most important asset: their home. We’ve learned a lot about home improvement over the years, but the most important thing we learned isn’t about window replacement. We learned the home improvement industry isn’t about offering the best windows, siding and doors; it’s about the relationships we build with our customers.

Window Nation also provides roofing services. They did a superb job replacing and repairing our 20+ year old roof. We purchased a roof with a TRANSFERABLE WARRANTEE - should we decide to sell our home.? From the sales manager, job foreman and installation team everyone was informative, efficient, very neat and did a terrific job.

The windows were ready in about 3 weeks, but, I had to coordinate with another contractor so they could both be there at the same time as the frame for the windows needed repair as well. It was Great! They were very understanding and I was able to get both jobs done at the same time so when my windows were installed the warranty would not be compromised. They did an excellent job! The front of my house looks beautiful. The repairmen did a wonderful job and when they left there was no cleanup, as if they had never been there and the windows magically installed. My husband and I are very pleased. The installers were cordial, efficient and when we have paid for the windows, we will be calling them for a new front door and screen.

The whole process went better than we could have imagined.

I, unfortunately, cannot comment on the quality of work performed by this company.  However, I wanted to leave a review of the company's professionalism, which I believe is pertinent to the overall quality of the business and was certainly a deciding factor for me.  In fact, the situation was rather ridiculous and not at all what I expected from a competitive business.
I phoned the Window Nation office a couple of days ago and requested a quote for vinyl replacement windows.  The lady on the phone set up an appointment for me but kept inquiring whether or not my husband was going to be present.  I replied that he wasn't but that was alright, we would discuss it later, and that we should go ahead with the appointment.  The lady called me today to confirm tomorrow's appointment and again asked whether my husband was going to be there.  After I remarked that it was really between me and my husband to decide how to handle replacement windows, the lady said that it was against the company's policy to meet with only one homeowner present.  I cancelled the appointment because I found the pushiness insulting and highly unprofessional.   I understand that it might be easier to force people into signing a contract on the spot when both spouses/partners are present but this just reeks of unprofessionalism.

Window Nation was a pleasure to work with from start to finish. Their estimator was on time, friendly and knowledgable. The guy who came out to measure was equally easy to work with. The team that they sent to install all 22 windows and sliding glass door arrived, took great care not to mess anything up in our home and installed everything in one very long day. They did this at our request and because of our busy scheudles. Once everything was installed, we had a few issues that Window Nation dealt with promptly and professionally. I would recommend them to anyone.

We knew we eventually wanted to replace our windows but thought it would be best to delay research on it for another year or two. Representatives were canvasing our neighborhood, shared some background materials and a cd, and we decided to schedule a meeting. The sales person was prompt, professional, and respectful of our time. He did an assessment of the work to be done, presented options appropriate for our location, let us know about other completed projects in the neighborhood we could see, and worked up an estimate. There were various specials available and payment options that made the project worthy of consideration. I believe the estimates were good for a decent period of time, but we opted to do the work after reviewing the estimates, deciding on a window style and setting a target date for installation. Windows were ordered, another time was set for someone to come out and confirm all measurements, specs and details of the project (color samples for outer framing, testing for lead, instructions for clearing space prior to installation, etc.), and installation schedule was confirmed. The day of the installation, the 2 installers arrived a little early, scanned the work to be done, communicated their plan for the day, unloaded their truck and set up. A few hours later, our sales person called to confirm the crew had arrived and all was going well. Communicating the plan for the day included an overview of how they will prep each existing window, what order they anticipated going in through the house, and confirmed that the plan was ok; they also went over the placement and specs of each window to make sure it is what we ordered. They took great care to mask windows inside and kept spaces clean throughout the day. I think they arrived around 8a and had completed the project by 6:30p. The installers were respectful, thoroughly cleaned up behind themselves, inside and out. Outside, they did a good job of not crushing plants and shrubs. They gave a demonstration on how the windows worked and they were done. Post installation, we discovered that 3-5 windows didn't close properly, we placed a service call and a technician came the next day t re-calibrate and provide additional recommendations on maintenance and troubleshooting. Overall, it was a great experience and I would recommend Window Nation to anyone searching to identify companies for comparative and competitive estimates and excellent service and support.

Excellent attention to detail and high quality products and installation crews.  One crew of three put in the 32 windows in two days and a crew of four put in the doors at a separate time in two days.  Both crews were easy to deal with, very hard working, and did very high quality work with attention to details.  Very pleased with the end results and have noticed our house is much cooler and even quieter inside from the improved insulating effects of the windows and doors.  Installed Softlite Imperial LS double hung windows and Provia doors.  Very pleased with the quality of the doors and windows and they look great too!

We first contacted Window Nation for a siding estimate. The estimate was in line with other estimates for vinyl siding, but we found that Window Nation offered a good price for insulated siding, which is what we ultimately went with. We later contact Window Nation for an estimate on window replacement.
The good: The price per window was good and the window replacement installers were professional. The quality of the siding was good.
The bad: The sales person, Chris, promised us that both layers of existing siding on our house would be removed. We had a lengthy conversation about the fact that there were two layers and we wanted both off. However, the installers had no intention of and did not remove both layers. They only removed the existing vinyl siding. The result is that the windows and doors look set back into the house far more than they should. A WN manager came out and suggested we account for the difference with trim, which is what happened. In the end, it looks ok, but was not what we thought we were purchasing.
Chris also promised us that they would put holes in the soffits (to vent them) before installing new vented soffits over top. They did only after we noticed that they weren't doing so.
Chris also said that he had put into the work order that a bay window in our kitchen, which was not going to be replaced, would be capped on the outside. The installers had no intention of capping the window. I contacted Chris to ask about it, and got no answer. It was eventually done, but it took some doing.
The problem with Window Nation is that you're working with a sales person first and then subs. Although there were people that called themselves "project managers" we did not have a single point of contact. We got numerous calls from different people and had to try to explain the situation over and over. It was a frustrating experience overall and I wouldn't recommend them.
Response from Window Nation Lorton

"Window Nation takes pride in offering tremendous customer service. As noted by[member name removed] there was some questions regarding the removal of a second layer of siding. When the issue was brought to our attention Window Nation immediately worked with [member name removed] to come up with an acceptable resolution. The agreed upon resolution was implemented and the project was completed in a timely manner. Furthermore, Window Nation appreciates customer feedback and uses such feedback to continually review and update its internal systems and processes with the intention of giving all of our customers the best experience possible."

The whole process was great. The salesman was no too pushy and tried to get the price I was looking for. The products were made in MD and were done before expected. The service techs showed up on time and got right to work. Very professional and worked quickly. They didn't even take a lunch. Had all things done by the end of the day. Everything looks great and it is such an improvement over the original windows from 1972. Would definitely go with this company again.

I heard about WN from a buddy from the firehouse. I rec'd several quotes prior to WN and they were the best quality and the cheapest by far. After they replaced about 12 windows in my home I was very pleased with their speed and quality. They've been in my house just shy of a year now and I've got no complaints. The two guys who came to do the job were friendly and were good at what they did. I bought them pizza and drinks since it was a long days work. I was so pleased with their work I helped pay to have my parents house done in Rockville and have passed on their name to other friends who've since had wok done by WN. I would use them in the future should the need arise.

It went much better than expected. They estimated 3 days to remove and install 33 windows. They got it done in two. Everyone was punctual, friendly, knowledgeable, and courteous. All the windows fit properly and are a breeze to operate. We are extremely pleased with our purchase/investment.

Window nation was great to work with, start to finish.  We knew this was a big job, and had three companies come in to provide  bids.  The church is in two sections, the first built in about 1957 and the second in 1963.  All the window had lead-based paint (under several other coats), plus we have a pre-school that operates every morning with a "don't interfere" policy.
The Window Nation was the best price, although I planned to visit the showroom of the two lowest bids.  At WN, they worked to my schedule and gave me a great rundown on what they had bid, and what other options were available.  This wasn't a "bait-and-switch" though - they recommended we stay with what they had bid as the best value for our church.  The other vendor couldn't seem to find a way to make our schedules match.
The measuring went very smoothly - and we found several windows that we had missed in the initial walk-around for the bid.  The change order for the full job of 96 windows was totally consistent with thie intial per-window price, and they were very easy to work with on the lead-paint mitigation, some tempered glass requirements, a couple of frosted windows, etc.
Instrallation was projected to take about 6 days, Monday-Saturday.  The windows arrived a little sooner than we expected, so we were able to have the work done exactly when we wanted it.  After the first day I was a little worried by what I could see had been accomplished, butmuch of that was prep-work, the full crew arrived on Tuesday, and they finished ahead of schedule, mid-day Friday.  They couldn't have been easier to work with - no issues working around the pre-school schedule (and physically avoiding the pre-school area while the children were present).  Some windows were in below-grade window wells, others on the third flood with poor ladder access.  That all made no difference - no mess left, every window done well, whether in a closet or the main office.
Their normal policy is cash/check upon completion of the work - which is different from our church's policy which is that a bill is submitted when the work is done (or when partial pre-payment is required), a church representative certifies that the work was done (my role) and then the Treasurer pays the bill, generally within a few days.  They were great working with us on that "business" part of the process, too.
The responses from the church members, the pre-school staff, the church staff and visitors have been very positive - in many cases windows are being used that hadn't been opened in decades.
Any regrets?  Only one:  We had the windows done on our house several years ago.  I wish I'd known about Window Nation then since I'm sure I would have had just as good or better quality and a better price.  They areeat to work with and have a wide range of products that would have fit our needs.

We went to Window Nation based on "A"  reviews in Angie's List and their
area reputation, however, we were very dis-satisfied with with the
process.  First, I must say we like the products that were eventually
installed but had problems almost from the beginning with the process.
First, our salesman appeared very professional and skilled when he
estimated the job of replacing two sets of patio door, our main entry
door, and a total of 7 casement windows.  But, we did not want a one for
one replacement on the windows, we wished to change the style which he
estimated and prices for us.  However, when the measure check was done
about 10 days later, it was determined that we could not change the
window style due to structural support issues and we were offered
replacement with casement windows at the agreed to price (supposedly
they would have cost up to $400 more than our original selection).
Never once was it discussed that the replacements would provide a
significant loss of  glass area, restricting our visibility of our back
yard.  The patio doors came in and were installed, however, although  we
discussed screening with the salesman, the screens were not ordered and
had to be ordered, installed and paid for separately.  When we
commented on the screens, they were ordered for us but when the first
attempt to install was made, it was determined that no tracks for the
screen had been ordered or installed with the patio doors, so yet
another delay.
In the front entry, the measure check also
determined that our Palladian window must be replaced with an upcharge
of $1500, which delayed the job until the March/April time frame while
that was ordered, remember we started this in November.  Finally, the
new front storm door we ordered arrived, and was installed, however the
lock was not keyed to match the entry door as we ordered so that
involved more phone calls and a service call to re-key the locks and fix
a few issues with the front door trim.
Overall, products get a
good grade, particularly the doors that are not manufactured by WN,
management attention to these issues was prompt and  helpful, but
mistakes and 'over promises' by the sales department, and average
attention to installation, soured our experience. Given that the number
of window dealers in Angie's list is fairly extensive we will not
consider WN again for additional work if required.

My experience with this company was very negative.  I had to call several times before getting a response.  When the local rep finally got back to me, he said he wanted to send me brochures for the various window types by email and that I should print them out and then contact him with any questions.  He did not seem to want the work, so I decided to go with another company that did.

We found this company to be unprofessional in its approach to receiving a simple estimate.  We first called on 3/27/2013 to schedule an appointment to have someone come out and do a measure so that they could provide an estimate.  They wanted to first send someone to give us a sales pitch but once I told them we knew the types of windows we wanted they said someone would call me right back.  Several hours later we did get a message, and on the next day we received another call.  It was apparent by the questioning that the woman on the other end of the phone wanted to ensure Window Nation was going to get the job, before even coming out to provide an estimate.  I ended up telling her the type of windows we wanted and the number we needed (20), and she said it would run about $1,800 window.  Really? a quote without even knowing the size, configuration or shape of the windows, lites or no lites?  At that point, we felt it best to not further proceed.

I do not usually answer the door for solicitors, but on this particular day, I did.  Cody greeted me and asked if I needed new windows, doors or siding.  I commented that i needed all three, but was looking to replace my window immediately.  He advised me that Window Nation carried 20 brands of windows.  This appealed to me because I have not been impressed by ad's in the flyer paks that only have their "super" brand.  I gave Cody my info and a day or two later, Bob called me and we setup an appointment to meet.  Bob arrived promptly and I showed him what I needed (wanted) .  We spoke about different brands and the pro's and cons and I based on Bob's demos and features, I decided on the Vytex brand.  One feature of Window Nation is that the install team works for the window manufacturer so they are trained and qualified to install the specific brand selected.  I ordered the windows on February 9th  knowing that the windows were built to my specific size requirement and would take several weeks for delivery.  A couple of days later, a rep from Vytex came by and measured the unique dimensions.  A few weeks later I was called to setup the installation which we set for Tuesday, March 5th.  On March 1st, I was called and advised that they had a cancellation and would I like to have my installation on the next day (Saturday) which is my day off and eliminated the need to take leave the following Tuesday.  The appointment was set for between 8 and 10 am.  The install team arrived at 9:00 and had my old original (1983) single pane windows removed within 30 minutes.  The preparation and installation of the new windows were performed with an obvious attention to quality and accuracy.  The required repair was "built to spec" so that the installation was a perfect fit.  The correct insulating foam (I checked) was installed around the window units to provide a weatherproof fit.  The installation of the external trim was meticulous and the caulking was precise.  I am a little critical on my evaluation of work, but this job was perfect.  I have no reservations in recommending this company (team of people).
