Independence Landscape is a full-service landscape and lawn care company based in Northern Virginia. We offer a full range of services from maintenance to landscape design and installation to custom hardscape projects. Each crew has a specialized skill set, ensuring top-quality work regardless of project size or complexity. We continually stay on top of industry standards and developments by regularly attending professional training sessions and courses. If a better method, tool or environmentally friendly product appears on the market, Independence is trained and certified to implement it in order to enhance the beauty of our customers' properties. *Our Company History* Independence Landscape was established in 2006. Our owners, Curtis Greene and Chad Evans, originally started in the landscaping and lawn maintenance business while in high school and college. "Even back then," Greene explains, "we took it very seriously and set high standards for everything we did." Clients noticed their reliability and the quality of their work. After college graduation, they both landed jobs with the Department of Defense but quickly discovered they missed working on yards and building relationships with clients. They both decided to pursue their real passion, and soon Independence Landscape officially opened for business. Today our growing company takes care of residential properties throughout Northern Virginia. Loyalty and trust between our clients and employees is the backbone of everything we do at Independence.

I searched Angie’s List for a lawn care company to maintain my lawn. Independence Landscape and Lawn Care had very good reviews so I gave them a call for an estimate to provide fertilizing and weed control. When Mark Haller called I explained the condition of my lawn and he scheduled a visit for the same day. I also asked him to provide a price to completely re-sod my lawn along with some minor grading work. I received the estimate the next day and was pleased that the price to redo the entire lawn was quite reasonable. I reviewed a few details with Mark and agreed to have the work done. Due to the weather conditions, my job was scheduled for 6 weeks out but it was worth the wait. The crew did a fantastic job and I am extremely pleased with the results. I look forward to my lawn being cared for on a regular basis and I recommend them without reservation.

I broke my arm and requested they wait until I called to schedule once I was able to water the lawn for the new seed. They showed up unscheduled anyway and did not even call to say they were coming. They did not have the proper equipment to do my small back yard and had to return another day. I had talked to their lawn specialist prior and requested he come out for a consultation as I had more things in the yard I wanted to maybe do. He said he would but I never heard from him again. I would definitely not use this business again nor would I recommend them.

We worked with Chad who was great about going over everything we wanted to get done and explaining our options in detail. They were great about scheduling both of their portions of the project in a very timely manner, as they completed portions of an overall backyard overhaul that involved steps before and after other contractors completed their portions. It was a great experience and we are very pleased with the results.

These guys are really good. Curt has never promised something and then not delivered. Anytime I've had even a minor issue, it's always been fixed in a timely manner. The company isn't the cheapest in the area, but paying a little bit more has been worth it.

Everything went really well, and I really believe that was due to Jimmy Hink. From our first meeting, I just felt Jimmy would be the best person to work with to accomplish what I wanted. It was just a very good working relationship.

One of the owners came out and listened to our complaints about the drainage. We discussed solutions and he answered all our questions and considered our ideas too. It took several days to dig and install a French drain, dig a long trench across our back yard for a drainage pipe into which 2 downspouts were tied, and to install a larger window well with drainage line. The workers arrived on time and put in a full day of very hard labor digging a very long, deep trench. I was very impressed with their effort and quality of work. The owner came out to check in with us as they neared completion. We finally had enough heavy rain in Mar and April to test this drainage work, and it has performed perfectly. Excellent job.

Curt and team did a wonderful job. Curt provided a competitive estimate and delivered according to the timeline and cost he laid out. The work was very professional, and the clean-up was so thorough that it was hard to tell that the crew had been there at all, except for the great results that were very easy to see. I really appreciated the great work and professionalism of Independence Landscaping.

Curt was extraordinarily nice and responsive. From the moment he came out to assess the situation until the work was complete, he was a dream to work with. We discussed our very wet, swampy back/side yard where it wasn't draining. He proposed a french drain system that would connect to our current one and running it to the street where it could drain properly. He connected it to our gutters and drilled the sidewalk to make sure it went into the street. We discussed the other proposals we got that included an outdoor sump pump, which Curt said we didn't need because we had just enough of a slope. I really appreciated his honesty. We had the work done last March and it's been great ever since. They came and got the work done in 2 days and even reseeded where they dug the trench. Since they completed the work, we've waited to write a review to see how the system worked. We've been through some really intense rains and it's been so nice. While it does pool a little when it really rains, it dries out so really well. Before, it would be consistently wet with no hope of drying out. Now, the area gets dry within a day of the rain. I would very much recommend Curt and his company. In fact, I gave his information to all my neighbors and will continue to use him in the future for all landscape related issues.

I thought the price was fair. They just come and show up, it’s not like you have to be home, they are out in the yard. I think 2 people was here. For the aeration, it took about a half an hour to 45 minutes. Area is left, where you can’t even tell they were here.

They were professional and easy to work with throughout the whole process. Their crew showed up on time and was friendly and communicative when we had questions. They worked quickly and efficiently, but clearly with a great attention to detail. They weren't rushing things, but they weren't wasting time either. There was a slight delay of about a day in the work when they found that some of the pavers they were using didn't quite match the other pavers they had already put down. They communicated this to us clearly, and they even had a representative of the paver company come out to look and take pictures so they could be sure they got pavers to match. I spoke with the paver company rep at the time and he said he works with Independence a lot, and had nothing but good things to say about them. The patio was finished quickly, but it seems quite well. It is beautiful and sturdy. We've already had a few parties on it and everyone seemed very impressed with it. They even planted grass seeds in the re-graded dirt around the patio and put mulch down in another area next to the patio, which was definitely appreciated. I would absolutely work with independence again. We love our patio and felt like our project was handled well by the company, from start to finish.

Within 24 hours of purchasing the ticket I received a call to set up an appointment to look at my lawn. I discussed with Independence what I was looking for. Some recommendations were made that were very good and we agreed to the work. Within 72 hours the Independence team showed up at my townhouse an hour early and immediately began work. Almost 3 hours later the three man crew was done. The cleaned up the mess and left the front of my house looking awesome and even cleaner than when they started. Two hours later the manager arrived to inspect his people's work and ensure that I was pleased with the service. I was!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The team was outstanding. From the estimate to the crew that came out, soon after the estimate, and performed the work, they were wonderful. This job was more extensive than we had first thought, with over 130 feet of drain required to get the water from all along the side of our house and drain it properly to gutter. They came out the day after and installed sod that matches our lawn. A week later we had torrential rains that created ponding in most of our neighbors' yards. We had nothing...and we have not had any issues to this day (almost three months later). Now we are having them work with us to fix up the backyard.
