My dog was attacked by another dog. I immediately ran her over to this 24 hour emergency hospital for treatment.
The staff was incredibly kind and understanding of my concern (i had blood all over me). They took my dog back and while evaluating her, they allowed me to wash up and calm down. The doctor was wonderful. Gentle and informative so that I could make the best decision for my dog (and my budget). They called when they said they would and she came home the same day with the necessary medications and treatment for her injuries.
I cannot say enough wonderful things about this facility and it's services!
"Thank you for your kind words! We were happy to be here for you and your girl. We hope she is healing well. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us. -- Linda"
TLC followed up with my family vet, which I appreciate. I really did like the facility overall and would recommend it for any emergency situation.
For those of you who have never had to go through it, having to make a decision about the life of a close furry companion after 14 years is extremely hard. I could not have have been more pleased with the way Megan, Kelly and Dr. Graves helped me through one of the most difficult and painful decisions I have ever had to face in my life.
There's nothing worse than a blubbering adult man barely keeping it together... they immediately allowed me to move into one of the back rooms to try and compose myself so as to not come to pieces in their waiting room and they handled me and my distress like complete and utter pros.
They didn't try and encourage pointless procedures that would have likely done nothing to prolong Chloe's life or would've done little to improve her comfort... and they did everything they could to make her last moments (any my dealing with it) comfortable, peaceful and dignified.
I cannot recommend these guys enough. I hope I never have to go back with either of my other animals, but I would in an absolute heartbeat.
Many, many thanks.
The LifeCentre appeared to be well staffed, they're was always someone manning the reception area, even when they were very busy (unlike another Northern Virginia emergency veterinary center I've been to).
The behavior of the staff was professional; they were helpful in regard to keeping me informed about what was going on: the various treatments my cat was receiving, explaining test results, symptoms, observations, and possible diagnoses. They were responsive to my concerns and had no problem with answering questions. I was also able to see my cat and spend time with her every couple of hours. As is not uncommon with emergency rooms, they may have gone overboard with the tests and treatments they were recommending but they were good about explaining their rationale for wanting to do them.
After the worst of the crisis had passed, my cat continued to refuse to eat and drink. Although my cat was always very sweet and appeared calm, it was apparent to me that she was very upset about being in the ER. So, I took her home early, to see if she would eat and drink there. This was going against the advice of the vets. However, they were professional about it and they gave me clear instructions, both verbally and in writing, on what to do when we got home. We agreed that I would bring my kitty back if she appeared any worse. My cat did, in fact, start eating and drinking as soon as we got home, and continued to improve until I could get an appointment with her regular vet a couple of days letter.
The LifeCentre owed me a refund from the prepaid fees, which they returned to me without a problem.
They also followed up with our vets who called the next day. In the end our cat got sick again, she had a bladder stone. But the Lifecenter did everything they could at the time. They tried an ultrasound, but her bladder was too small for them to see anything. Today we received a get well card from them, that was addressed to our cat. It was really sweet and more then we expected. The card was the 'icing on the cake' as it were.
I have used them numerous times. We found one Internal Medicine doctor to be rather unresponsive and unhelpful. Amother was much better. The Emergency staff, though, are terrific -- they are very responsive and inspire great confidence in their ability to care for your pet.
