+ -1 moreToday's job turned out very well. We have heat! Armstrong has quickly become our 'go to' HVAC service provider. We first used them in January (after joining Angie's List) and have utilized their expertise 3 additional times, counting today. Daniel and his staff are always prompt and responsive, especially in an emergency situation. After a few days of beautiful weather, the temperature dropped dramatically today. When my husband went to turn the gas furnace on, the fan promptly burned itself out. We are DIY's and are remodeling our townhouse. We learned the hard way that you're not supposed to keep your system fan running while sanding, cutting wood, etc. The fine dust goes right through the furnace filter. This particular construction was caused by pipes that burst during the infamous polar vortex. We didn't want to risk another one of those situations, so my husband called Armstrong this morning. Daniel arrived early this afternoon. He had to replace the fan motor and got the furnace up and running by 4pm. I cannot emphasize how impressed we are with this company's professionalism and work ethic. I would highly recommend them to anyone who needs help in the HVAC field. We are pretty sure that the next thing to go on this particular property will be the AC unit. Get ready, Daniel & Co: I WILL be calling you!

+ -1 moreCompany was great at communicating with me. Technician was courteous. He was running a little bit late and so he called me to inform me which I really appreciated. He did his review and told me everything was fine and gave me a print-out. Two months later, I heard a funny sound one night and called Michael and sons to have them check my heat-pump. They came by and told me that the coil in the inside unit was leaking and they needed to replace 2lbs of refrigerant and that this should have been caught by this vendor during their visit in December. I really do not know what to believe since the Michael and Son technician simultaneously was trying to sell me a new unit that would cost $7500.00. I plan to have someone else look at my unit before I make any decisions.

+ -1 moreTechnician arrived on time and inspected furnace.. I paid Angie's List $55 to clean furnace grates but the tech determined it did not need cleaning but did need a new part. The new part was ordered and installed two weeks later. I paid Armstrong $138 for the part plus $85 for a service call. In my view I should not have to pay $55 to Angie's List for cleaning the furnace since this was not done
Description of Work: Provider inspected gas furnace and determined it needed a new pressure switch which he had to order.

He went under the crawl space and checked everything out. He told me what was going on and he was very thorough. He tried to sell me a service contract, but he was not pushy. I would use them again.

He politely told us that the other person's recommendation would not have corrected our problem. He was very pleasant, on time, estimates were reasonable and the work was top notch. I would recommend Armstrong mechanical to anyone in the Richmond tri city area. The work was done on a house in Chester.

Our technician performed a thorough check, and showed us where all the components were located; he also cleaned and removed dust from inside the cabinet. He also answered all our questions, and pointed out potential trouble spots that may require attention in the near future. The work was completed in a timely manner. Unlike some companies we have had, we know we can depend on Armstrong Mechanical to do good work and give us honest answers to our questions, and explain and perform the required work.
Description of Work: This service was the result of purchasing a "Big Deal" from Angie's List; Our technician was from Armstrong Mechanical (804-929-3157); we have used this company before, and were very pleased. The technician arrived a few minutes early, went to the furnace room, and checked out the furnace, made a few adjustments, and advised me on the proper use of the dampers in distributing the heat evenly. He was very thorough in checking all the components to make sure that everything was operating properly. He also checked the condition of the filter, and approved its use for a few more months.

She gave me a very manageable window of 1 hour for our date of service, and called prior to the tech coming to the house. Andrew arrived and was fantastic. He was diligent and thorough and provided great information on the life of our unit, while also making us aware of an issue with our water heater, which he doesn't even service, but that was next to one of the returns. Overall, they did a great job and I would definitely use them in the future.

Description of Work: When I initially called Armstrong Mechanical, Daniel (the owner) answered the phone. This was on a Sunday Morning. Due to my very busy work schedule, it is difficult to arrange time off. When asking Daniel what cold be arranged, he said he could be out that afternoon at 4 PM. He arrived at exactly 4 PM and we discussed the job, which was installing a new central heat and air system including running all of the duct work. I had radiator heat at the time and only window units since my hose was built in 1949. I asked if he would remove all of the radiators while doing the job and he agreed to do this for $500 which was by far less than the quote I got from James River Heat and Air. James River AC wanted to charge around $1100 just to remove the radiators alone. Also Daniels price was much better and he took the time to go over the entire project in detail, unlike James River. That sales rep was quite unimpressive and did not seem real interested, and was not very thorough in the discussion of details. I also had plans to renovate the upstairs and wanted a quote for that based on discussing that project. Daniel recommended a ductless system for the upstairs since I will not be using the upstairs near as much so I did not want that unit tied into my downstairs unit. I am now renovating the upstairs and will use him again to do that project. He came out again a couple of weeks ago to discuss that project now that he can see what the new design actually is. He gave me some good suggestions and soon I will move forward with that.
