BROUGHTON APPLIANCE SERVICES

I contacted them and they sent a technician out the following day to my home that was vacant at the time. I understood that there was a $69.95 trip charge. When I received my invoice I noted there was an additional $15 charge for labor. The labor apparently is above and beyond the trip charge, even for something as minor as my problem turned out to be. So be aware of that prior to scheduling your call. I have never had to call for non-warranty appliance repair before so I was unprepared for the total cost for a trip that took less than 15 minutes. This may be standard in appliance repair but I wanted to be upfront for all of the novices out there like me. The good part is that it was an easy repair and the technician callled me to report that he had simply unclogged the starter vents, similar to using a paper clip to punch through the clog of dried food or cleaner that was causing the gas not to reach the burner. So, obviously they have honest technicians which is great. They were also good about sending the invoice to me quickly (although they required a credit card over the phone so it was a paid invoice). I imagine that some people might try not to pay due to the fairly high expense per time spent so they get the card info ahead of time. While there are some positives to this company, I find the charges a bit excessive for the time spent.

I called, I got fast service, even the lady who answers the phone was helpful, serviceman arrived on time and repaired my microwave and oven door in a pretty short time. I was very happy because I expected to have to purchase a new microwave oven door and a new oven door but he was able to fix it so I saved a lot of money.

I would rate them highly and would use them again in the future if necessary.

He told me all refrigerators that have freezers in the lower compartment, no matter the make year, they all made this noise. He did not check and see were the noise would have been coming form. I called a man from sears to come out. I verified with the man from sears, He explained this is the best selling refrigerator, and they sell quite a few of them and if they were all making this noise, customers would not buy them. The man from sears actually got on the floor and duplicated the noise and verified were it was coming from.

It went well from beginning to end. After a misunderstanding on the time (neither of our fault), the owner rescheduled me and took all the information needed to make sure this was a one-stop trip. Since I have had this problem a few years ago, I knew that it was probably a and quot;partand quot; that just needed to be replaced. The owner, Debbie, made sure the service repairman had the part with him when he came to work on my machine. He arrived on time and within 15 minutes my dryer was working perfectly! Grand job.

I called them to fix my freezer door. I really wanted to get it looked at before the labor day weekend. Even though they did not have power in their office due to the Hurricane, Chris offered to come out to look at it on his way home. Wow - old school customer service! He was prompt and friendly. He took the freezer pull out door apart and was able to put it back together and fixed it.

They came three times. The third time he came for free. First they said that it was the defrost detector and replaced it. But that wasn't what was broken because the issue was not resolved. The second time they said that it was the mother board. The issue was still not resolved. The third time they replaced some part and found out what really the issue was. The owner had to actually come out and check the issue. I felt that at least one of the fee should have been knocked out because I paid twice.

Our dryer drum was turning but we had no heat. I diagnosed the problem online as a bad thermostat/heating element and called Broughton appliance to make an appt. Mr. Broughton came out the next day, confirmed my diagnosis, replaced the element, cleaned up the workspace, tested it, and everything was fine. $140 for outcall + parts + labor. I first thought that was little bit pricey, but Mr. Broughton was extremely gracious and professional, and I felt that he had been in the business long enough to know what was a fair price. Two days later my wife called to tell me that, after one good cycle, the dryer was again failing to heat. I called Broughton Appliance and Mr. Broughton was back here the following day. First he thought the part her had put in had simply been a bit faulty, so he replaced it again (not an easy task, since it's located in the far back of the dryer, about 3" off the floor, so it's difficult to reach). He tested it again, it was working fine, then stopped heating again. So he went back in for the third time, started taking things apart, and discovered lint build-up on an internal part of the dryer (it's 15 years old) where the owner could not clean without disassembling the motor housing. Her cleaned that all out (there was a lot), re-assembled the housing, put in yet another thermostat/heat element, and ran a third op-test. This time it worked like a dream. Cost for follow-up visit, additional labor, and two more replacement parts: $0. Throughout both visits Mr. Broughton was a true gentleman and professional. I'd recommend him not only as a service provider but also as a grandfather. ;-)

Mr. Broughton was very personable and his company will be the first company I call next time I need appliance repairs!

Identified root cause to be faulty motherboard, had replacement unit on hand and installed it same visit. Also cleaned excess dust from air vent at no additional charge. Fridge works like new! I wouldn't hesitate using them again.

Called Broughton's Appliance Repair. Individual who answered asked about the problem, indicated that a technician could come the next day between the hours 10 and noon. I agreed. The technician arrived promptly; introduced himself; confirmed the refrigerator's problem with me; went to work quickly; identified the problem; installed a new mother board in the refrigerator; wrote the repair ticket; I wrote a check for the charge. Job was professionally done; and the technician was pleasant and professional. This is my second experience with Broughton's (previously had a dishwasher problem. What a great service company!!

Larry came out and was pretty patient while I tried to recreate the sounds. The microwave, of course, wouldn't recreate the problem, but Larry said he could come back out within 90 days at no cost if it had problems again. Then he opened up the dishwasher and cleaned the disposal area out and looked at the rest of the dishwasher. Gave me some good advice on when it would just be time to give up on both appliances and invest in new vs repair, etc. Very pleasant and knowledgeable!

Everything went very well. They were knowledgeable about repairing it and they showed perseverance about trying to figure out solutions to the odd problems.

Broughton was good to work with, as I was communicating with them from another state. They showed up on schedule, let themselves in as we had predetermined, and reported their findings to me promptly. No one was at the home to know about their punctuality, thus the N/A rating.

called them after seeing them recommended on Angie's list. They were prompt and polite. I needed the lower heating element replaced in my GE electric oven. He replaced it within 30 minutes. I thought the charge was excessive. The trip charge is $70 and labor ~70 and part about 30. Maybe that's the going rate, but it seems on high side. He also left the box that it came in in the kitchen or utility room, so I had to throw it out or recycle it. A small point, he left the doors to the fuse boxes open. I also need a knob replaced on Thermador convection oven. Broughton doesn't do that so the repairman gave me name and phone # of someone who did, which was nice. If I have to pay $140.00 for the trip and labor, I'm not sure it's worth it. Before someone comes out I will ask about trip vs labor charges. The oven works fine now; I think the repair was excellent, just a bit pricey.

Overall, I was quite satisfied. Technician was knowledgeabe, prompt, and courteous. The company lived up to their high rating.

Great. I scheduled about 2 days in advance and it took less than a hour start to finish. Very professional and courteous. I would definitely use them again. Very easy to deal with and the price was reasonable for the length of time it took to perform the work.

Great Experience--The appointment was made within a couple of days after I called. He was willing to work with me to schedule something near my lunch hour so I did not have to take off work. He had the parts with him and did the repair within a 1/2 hour and he even cleaned out the lint hose.

We needed to have the dryer fixed quickly before a weekend snow storm. They were very quick to schedule us and were on time. Their price estimate was very close to the actual cost, and the prices were competitive. They were cheaper then two other places I looked into. The technician was friendly and efficient. It was overall a very good experience and we would definately use them again.

It was great. They were professional. They got a person out 2 days from when I called. They came, fixed it and left. I am sure the price was fine.

He is honest, professional and comes on time. His pricing is very reasonable as well.

The tech was suppose to be at my house between 1pm and 4pm. Surprisingly he was knocking on my door at 1pm. He was very courteous and friendly and even made friends with my dog. He did a complete preliminary diagnostic without going to far to run the price up. As he did each test, he explained what he was doing and why. I learned a lot while he was here. He was never smug or condescending in the least, and answered all of my questions so I could understand what was going on. It turned out that everything tested fine. He put it back together and plugged it in, and it started working as it should. He was very nice in informing me that this was not uncommon with electronics. I'm a computer repair and support tech myself and was pleasantly surprised at his attitude and professionalism. I'm never happy with the charges for service calls, but these guys weren't out of line on their $65 charge compared to other service companies. But the $20 diagnostic charge I felt was way much less than I expected and was very pleased. I will be calling them definitely in the future for repair work on my other appliances, and will definitely be recommending Broughton to my friends and neighbors. I know now how they have stayed in business as long as they have.

Quickly assessed the problem and pointed out that pump was broken and water was leaking from pump under dishwasher. Suggested that the price of repair (as much as $200 +) may not be cost effective). I knew from past experience and a prior review of Conumer Reports that this was accurate. Repairman and I quickly agreed that this was the best course of action. I appreciated the professionalism of the service man; his knowledge of the appliance and his judgement. Will call again when I need large appliance repairs. .
