OLD DOMINION APPLIANCE REPAIR

I called and scheduled the first late-afternoon appointment available. though I had to wait from Monday until Friday, I was willing to wait, as not only did Old Dominion Appliance Repair have a great rting in Angie's List, but my daughter has used him for several appliance repairs of her own.
I received a call early Friday afternoon that Alan was running late and i could either re-schedule or he would get to us later Friday evening. We elected to wait for him to come that same night.
We were very pleased with the knowledge and skill Alan possesses! Because we live in fairly close proximity to his home/office, Alan gave us a discount which was very nice of him.
We love our new latch! We can get dishes in AND out of the dishwasher now!
We recommend this company wholeheartedly!

Our 20 year-old microwave/oven wall unit went out 3 weeks ago, out of the blue. Apparently, the microwave's motherboard had gone bad, so the microwave started cooking on its own. Not a good thing! After checking into the cost of replacing the unit (gulp! $1,800 minimum) we called Alan to see if he could fix it instead. Alan searched for and found the replacement part, ordered it, and then called to install it after it arrived. It's a small company--just Alan and his wife, I believe--so you may have to wait a little longer for a call back because they stay so busy. But he's worth the wait--Alan is very knowledgeable about appliances and looks to save his clients money whenever possible. We recommend him and Old Dominion Appliance Repair highly.

The freezer on our GE Side-by-Side Refridgerator stopped working all of a sudden. The temperature would not go below 20 degrees. I suspected this was due to frost build up but clearing it had no effect. I did a lot of research online and found solutions such as bad defrost heater or program module. I could not self do those repairs so I decided to contact Alan at Old Dominion. He instantly knew the problem as the defrost heater as soon as I said GE freezer. He came out after a couple of hours (same day) and fixed the freezer very quickly. We were very pleased with the result and would recommend him again.

Arrived on time, spent time efficiently, knew the appliances well and was very reasonably priced. I was prepared to replace both the dryer and the refrigerator.

The serviceman arrived on his last stop of the day and worked diligently to correct the issue.

I called Old Dominion Appliance first thing this morning, when I realized the refrigerator/freezer was no longer cold. Allan said he could be out within the hour. He was extremely cheerful and courteous! Immediately saw the problem was the circuit board. Luckily, he carries many kinds with him and had this part in his truck. he was able to quickly switch it out and had everything working in no time!

Very honest assessment of my washer that was making screeching sounds during spin cycle. Did not try to sell me on some expensive repair, or tell me that I was making problem worse by not performing repair. I ultimately decided to live with the noise rather than fix it, which would have been about $400+.

Easy to make an appointment. I wasn't in a rush so I got to pick my date and window of time. Technician arrived promtply on date/time of appointment. Quickly diagnosed the problem, replaced the part, and was on his way.

Took several days before he could come, which wasn't a problem. arrived right on time. told me words no one ever wants to hear - I never heard that noise before! Determined new motor was needed, and said he'd be back is a few days. came, replaced motor for reasonable charge. I'm happy.

Alan is extremely knowledgeable of all appliances and we have been using him for years.
He is always on time if not early and completes the work efficiently.
He has assisted us with recommendations when a replacement appliance is required.
He quickly uncovered the cause of our malfunctioning dryer and and quickly cleaned the vent pipe. He also explained what to do prevent him from having to come back for that issue.

Last year, I had called Old Dominion Appliance Repair about problems that I was having with my electric oven. I spoke to Alan at that time and, because of the difficulty in getting parts for the oven, he recommended that I use the manufacturer's repair service and gave me the name and number of that manufacturer's local technician. I was so impressed with Alan's concern that my oven be repaired quickly with the right parts, rather than taking the job on himself, that I kept his name and number in the event I needed other appliances to be repaired. Recently, when my dishwasher started leaking from within its internal mechanism, I knew who I was going to call.
I called Old Dominion on Wednesday and was able to schedule an appointment for the next day. Alan called to confirm his arrival time on the day of the appointment and arrived exactly when promised. Not only did Alan arrive on time, but he arrived with the parts that he suspected he would need based on my description of the problem and was ready to go to work. In very short order, the failed part was replaced, the leaking stopped, and the dishwasher was running perfectly. Noticing that the dishwasher had not been properly leveled when installed, Alan went the extra step of fabricating a shim to level the dishwasher and did so at no additional charge. Our dishwasher is now working perfectly, is properly leveled, and no longer looks crooked under our counter top.
We could not be happier with the work that Alan did and will definitely use Old Dominion Appliance for any future appliance repair needs that we have. On the personal side, Alan is friendly, polite, and professional. While one never wants appliances to break down, it is nice to know that there is such a wonderful repairman like Alan serving the Haymarket area. Thanks again, Alan!

The repair went better than I could have expected. Alan's main concern was my family not having proper freezer operation andwanted to get the job done asap. Which he did. Old Dominion will be our appliance repair shop from now on.

Our Dryer was making a weird noise and it was over heating our clothes, so Alan came out to address the issues. He arrived on time, was very friendly and knowledgeable. He took no time to figure out what our issues were and checked all the key components on our Washer and Dryer. We couldn't of been more satisfied.

When I called to schedule an appointment, I was able to get one the next day. He arrived on time, was professional, took great care in the job he was doing and cleaned up his work area. My overall experience was wonderful! I would definitely call Old Dominion again for appliance repair!

My initial phone call was returned fairly quickly, and a technician was scheduled to come out the next day. The technician, Sam, arrived promptly. It took him all of about 15 minutes to install the new garbage disposal, and he instructed us on using the crank if it gets jammed. he diagnosed our refrigerator's problem within literally about 15 seconds. Unfortunately, the problem required a part to be ordered. The timeframe for receiving the part was as advertised, and we were called promptly when the part came in to schedule the follow-up visit. Again, the technician made the repairs quickly, and also consulted with us on an oven door - not something we had indicated we would need. Everything is now working just fine.

The technician was clearly knowledgeable and worked quickly, which I obviously appreciated since these things are billed by the hour. The company overall was very responsive and gave us correct information about timeframes. Both times the time window given was 4-7 PM - nice to know they work such relatively late hours, particularly handy for working people.

We were very happy with our experience on this job and would definitely use Old Dominion again.

Called Tue and Wed Allen came out and diagnosed that the control knob timer was broken. Called his distributor, found out they had the part, went by and got it and that evening came back and installed the new timer - and fixed my wonderful machine! Very, honest and knowledgeable. Fast and friendly service too! THANKS, ALLEN!

After several attempts at trying to dislodge the dispenser, I decided I might break my washing machine in the process. Looked on Angie's list for a suitable appliance repairman. The office was very responsive to my schedule of being home only in the afternoon and scheduled my appointment for 2 days later. Allan arrived promptly within the 2-hr. window. He tipped the machine over, exposing the bottom of the machine where the bottom cover slid off and the dispenser slipped out. He showed me how to do this in case it happens again. Since he had to charge me for a service call, he gave my washing machine a good check and also looked at my refrigerator where I had a few questions about it not seeming to run right. He said both appliances were in good working order.

Alan was very responsive, returning my call requesting service very quickly. Unfortunately, because of the nature of the problem and concerns that he did not have ready access to the parts from GE that were required to fix this older (10 years) oven, Alan could not agree to do the work. He did, however, discuss the likely causes of the problem with me, what the likely fix was going to entail, and recommended another service that would able to take on the work. Alan's concern with my customer satisfaction over his taking on work that he could not perform as efficiently or inexpensively as another service company was greatly appreciated. While I hope to not need appliance repair in the future, I will certainly call Old Dominion again if I do based on my positive experience with Alan.

It did not take him long to diagnose the problem. He advised that because of the cost to repair it, it would be better to buy a new one. He does not sell appliances, but offered recommendations for dependable machines. I found him to be friendly and honest and the price for his service was fair - about half of what I was quoted from another repair company. I will call him again when necessary and hand out his business cards to my neighbors.

Could not have been better. Our A/C died one night, we called Old Dominion early the next morning and made an appointment. The well-groomed, highly professional repairman arrived on time and made the repair in under an hour. He fully explained the problem in terms we could understrand. It was a very hot day and I'm sure he was under time pressure, but his service could not have been better on any score. I will never use any other company for my heating and airconditioning work.
