We wanted a nice easy local move. The team was early based on the original conversation. Things went south from there. They were deliberately slow, unprepared, and incompetent. Movers were nice, capable, and experienced. Obviously, subcontractors who were being used for low overhead. Two consequential points, first phone representatives were deceptive. Second, the movers were not with proper equipment. We paid $260 more for TOMCO due to bad industry and company practices. We chose the company on a referral from a good friend. In fact, I am pretty sure I know Tom Mitchell, owner. He seems to be an upstanding individual, but I feel cheated!

Worst movers ever--movers were not professional, in other words did not know how to properly move and pack. Enough men were not sent for job. Furniture and packed items were broken; walls and floors damaged. Floor protection was requested and promised but was not adequate. The job took much longer than promised and there was less to move than originally estimated. Furniture damage was repaired but that was little consolation.

My initial contact was great. They showed up on time (8AM sharp), had 4 young, healthy and experienced movers and a supervisor. Everything went well loading my stuff at my old address. Unfortunately, the unloading was a nightmare. Two older gentlemen showed up around 2:30. They had called me at 8 am to say they were 15 minutes away, but they were really 3 hours away in a different city. The driver had punched in the wrong address in his GPS. They were in the correct state, but that was it. I ended up with two guys struggling for 6 hours to get my furniture and boxes into the house. If I hadn't carried 30% of the stuff in myself, it would have been another two hours at least. My walls and railing are all banged up and they broke a couple of pieces of furniture that had been moved a few times before without any issues. I called the boss (Brian) the next day and he was indifferent to put it kindly. I paid $4200 dollars for this experience and wish I had given my money to somebody else. I guess "the Other" means that you get one service on one end and "other" at the opposite. There are plenty of movers in Hampton Roads. Pick someone else.

Flawless execution. The Other Moving Company sent a two-man totally professional team to execute the move. The team was very knowledgeable about moving delicate, large fine furniture. Everything was properly packed and protected, moved to two new locations, and properly unpacked and installed. I will definitely use them every time I need something big moved safely. Very reasonable pricing.

it went extremely well, especially considering the complexity of having three locations. The office staff was friendly and efficient, and I spoke to Brian Hudgins, who discussed details of the move with me before submitting an estimate. The crew arrived on time, surveyed the items to be moved, then immediately began wrapping the furniture and carefully loading items on their truck. They were friendly, courteous, and efficient. I ended up having to move more furniture than originally estimated, but the final invoice was still very reasonable. I definitely will use these movers again if the need arises, and I recommend them without reservation.

Did not have resources to get all of these items moved so called on these guys to come in and get it done. Four of them showed up, I showed them what needed done and I never heard another thing until they were done. They left the place spotless, all the equipment was gone and they were fast and quiet about. it. I have used this company repeatedly and they are always top notch. Prices are always very reasonable as well.

1.  The estimator arrived on time and provided a written estimate via email within two days.

2.  The company kept to the estimate even though the actual move took place three months following the estimate

3.  The packing crew arrived on time, were courteous, friendly, efficient, and most importantly careful.  They did not skimp on materials.      They carefully disassembled and wrapped furniture items that other movers had simply shipped as is.

4.  They asked me when I wanted the van to arrive at my new home the next day 150 miles away and were there on time.

5.  Like the packing crew the transfer crew was courteous, friendly, efficient, and careful.

6.  They laid quilts on the recently refinished floors of my new house so as not to track dirt or scuff the finish.

7.  They reassembled each piece of furniture that they had disassembled.

8.  Not one item was lost or damaged.

I was given stevens for my military PCS. Permanent Change of Station. The people that packed were about the best this company had to offer. The had a second group of people do the loading. They were a few hours late saying there was a mix up in the paperwork. So then they started rushing and broke my desk before they even got everything loaded. They ripped a door off its hinges and scratched my hardwood floor. I own that house I had to leave. So I had to repair it myself seeing as how I was leaving in 2 days to drive to Millington, TN from Virginia Beach, VA. I didn't repair the floor. It's just scratched now. The company asks me if I will take my goods on Labor day. I agree to it. They tell me on the paperwork that I need to be available between 0800-1700. They tell me my things will arrive between 08-10. Sunday night the driver calls and says he hit construction and would be late. Between 10-11. Mind you I made this drive twice in. A week because I have 2 vehicles and did a partial move myself. I know how long it takes to include hauling a trailer loaded with 3000lbs with my 99 dodge ram. It took me 15.5 hours. I didn't stop to sleep to get to the final destination. Anyway at 1130 the driver calls me again to sat he got pulled over by a state trooper on the highway 100 miles out and he is receiving a random truck inspection. Finally at 1430 I get a call to escort them onto base. This company is paid by the military to pack, load, transport, unload and unpack our belongings. He didn't want to do that either. And when I said they had to unpack this guy took all the boxes not labeled for dishes and dumped them upside down. I posted all the photos. I have a large bookcase broken, two small shelves broken, a desk broken harware missing and there are piles of things on top of each other to sort through for me to get through the entire claims process. They ran out of floor room and didn't finish unpacking everything. He didnt want to put my desk together because he said they dodnt know where the hardware was and "it's a claim anyway". They left around 2100 because I couldn't take anymore and they kept asking to leave. When handed me the paperwork he wrote unpacked to satisfaction and asked me to initial it. I one lined satisfaction and wrote in "if by 'unpacked' you mean boxed dumped on the floor in the wrong room, then yes 'unpacked'". I've called to complain. I will be filing a grievance and clearly claiming all damaged or lost/missing property.

I checked several times with the moving co to make sure that they understood what needed to be picked up at the consignment shops and they let me know that it would be no problem.  They picked both corner cabinets and neither twin bed.  As a result I had to pay someone an additional $300 to have the twin beds trucked in to Easton.  I called the owner of the company to try and get reinburst for the $300 I paid for the additional move he said he would pay it, I have yet to see one penny.

The owner, Brian, his office staff and their moving crews were the most polite and professional people that we have ever met.  They treated our furniture and other belongings like it belonged to their own grandparents.  They left our house in Virginia Monday afternoon around 2:30 PM and delivered it to our new home in Georgia Thursday morning.  They are BEYOND extraordinary and we wouldn't hesitate to use them again (although as recent retirees we hope to stay put for awhile) or to give them the highest recommendation possible.

My interactions began with filling out a detailed online form of what I wanted moved.
Where that form went I cannot say as the person who arrived to provide an estimate for the labor hadn't seen it. However, I don't think that's too much of a problem.
The wife and I packed the house ourselves, which I will return to in a moment.
The team arrived on time, and ready to work. After a quick briefing as to what was going to happen they got to work.
The move went well, with them placing boxes in the areas the boxes were labled for. There were a few items placed in the wrong room, but at the prices they charge I was not going to use up more time for them to fix it.
And tat does bring me to what could be potential issues.
They will pack a house for you, however be prepared to spend hundred of dollars more for that. To pack a single book box will add another $8 to your total. Larger boxes of course cost more. I believe a large box is $20 to pack. These fees are in addition to the labor fee. Which I believe was $50/hour/person.
So if a person can pack say 10 boxes in an hour you are paying $150/person per hour that they are packing boxes.
So I'd say use them to do the move, but pack yourself unless you just don't like having money.

I send a detailed list by email the next day. I wait to hear but did not so I called a week later. Was told Lilie was in a meeting but would call me back. Called again on a Saturday but was told Lilie was not working that day but they would leave a message for her to call me Monday. Well she did not. I called Wednesday and got recordings that they were busy and would get back as soon as they could. They did not. I called one last time two days later and left a message that I was really disappointed that no one bothered to call me. I don't know why. I told them if they they did not want my business they could have just called and told me. They did not. So now weeks later I am still looking for a mover. Sad thing is they came highly recommended from two people, I wonder how they got them to do the work?.

No one showed up for the appointment. I called the office at 9:30 a.m. and was told that someone would follow up with me. I called back at 10 a.m. as no one had followed up with me, and was told that even though they had all my information about current location and moving location, they didn't have me on the schedule for an estimate. They offered to make an appointment for another day, but I declined...I would not trust that they would show up.

"I apologized to the customer for the miscommunication. I personally was in Williamsburg all day long on Monday, but she was not on my list to visit. Her customer file is missing any scheduled appointment time as if she gave us all other info but wasn't ready to commit to a time. We offered to reschedule and she declined. This is unusual and appears it was not scheduled in our phone conversation. I apologized anyway and wished her the best."
