Tidewater Roofing, job was good, but we have had issues with it since then with it leaking.
They claim it is not their issue.

The interaction was very good. They were very courteous and did a good job very quickly once they got out here.

The overall service was fine and the installation went relatively smoothly. They were a little bit difficult to communicate with at times. For example, we had told the salesperson that we wanted two layers of shingles but when the installation crew came out they claimed they only had one layer of shingles on the order. It turns out that everything was fine but it was a momentary snafu that would have cost us several hundred dollars if we hadn't caught it. So there was not a lot of communication between the installation people and the management but beyond that everything went smoothly. The pricing was good; they weren't the absolute cheapest but they were one of the lowest priced. They responded very quickly to follow up calls and I will use them again in the future.

We weren't here when they dropped off the estimate and I did not have any personal interaction with them. I only had some phone conversation with them. They were very responsive and very upfront with their quote. They gave me a pretty detailed write-down on what they would do. I used another company to do my roofing job.

An excellent sales representative visited and clearly explained his product, installation process, and price. The work was done promptly, carefully, and neatly.  This job has stood the test of time.  I have had these gutters for six years and they work great.

They were able to replace our old roof. However, when we got our first rain, the roof leaked in the old place as well as new places. We called and they came out a supposedly fixed the problem. There was new damage to our ceiling and it has been months since that incident and they still haven't fixed the additional damage. Furthermore, the roof is still leaking. I would NEVER use this company or recommend it to anyone. The quality of their work is bad and they do not follow through. I am very close to taking them to court.

The price was higher than another quote but well worth it. This company was very professional and did an excellent job. It was a very hot week (always in the mid nineties). They worked carefully and did not rush. They cleaned up any mess at the end of the day.

Tidewater Roofer = bad service. Called them to give our roof once over, repair where needed and to replace missing shingles. Agreed to $600. They did some work on / near one of our dormers and we had a leak the next time it rained. I suggest not using them.

Please note that this is a follow up to the above.
After posting the above, the owner of Tidewater Roofing called and we discussed the issue and he provided a full refund.
Although my experience with Tidewater Roofing was not good, I do commend them for their follow up and the refund.

Update - After publsihing this report I was approached by the owner and asked what it would take to remove this negative post.  I told him that refunding the cost of the gutters would be a good faith effort in restoring confidence and that I would edit the post if the money was refunded.  In fairness, I thought I removed the post several months ago.  However, I received a letter from owner remindeing me of my commitment to edit or remove the post if he refunded the cost of the gutters - which he relunctantly did.

So, in accordance with my agreement, I have removed the sordid details of my experience.  Below is a highlight version of my experience:

6 months to complete the job with a couple no show, no calls.

Poor initial design attempt left significant water pooling on my flat rrof.

Subsequent agreement to redo the roof and add gutter to fix the problem.

Made partial attempt to take down the lip they built up and placed gutters.  Water still pools to unacceptable levels after any rain.

Workmanship of the wrap, the flat roof resurfacing and the gutter toopers around the house was good, no complaints.

Workmanship on the gutters around the flat roof was average to poor.  There are still a couple leaks behind the gutter which I was told was due to the design of the roof and the slope is such that water pools in a low area between two downspouts.

I got suckered.

The roof on our house was the original roof with a construction date of 1991. There were a couple of spots where stains were developing. We called Tidewater Roofing to give an estimate on replacement. The estimator who came out on Friday, 15 Aug was very friendly and knowledgeable about roofing systems. We called the estimator that Friday afternoon to tell him we accepted his bid and he gladly came out the next day Saturday to give us the final details, make our color and quality selection and sign the contract. We had to put down a $1,000.00 deposit. We were told that the foreman of the job would contact us with an estimate start date the next week, which he did. The foreman discussed the possibility of a start date on Wednesday, 27 Aug, but pushing our start date back one week to 3 Sept because of forecast for rain, which was understandable and what we agreed upon. To our surprise the next week on 26 Aug, a Tuesday morning, a roofing supply company showed up with our shingles and wanted to place shingles on my roof and the rest of the materials in my driveway, which would have had to sit there for a week. We never received a call telling us that they were going to deliver shingles on 26 Aug which would have had to sit for a week on my roof and in my driveway. Thank God we were home because they had the wrong colored shingles. I called the foreman and he of course was very apologetic and said he missed postponing the order until the week of 1 Sept. The next week we were in D.C. for the Labor Day holiday and came back on Tues 2 Sept where our shingle were positioned on the roof and driveway. My car was still in the driveway because we had no idea when they were going to deliver the materials. Had I known this, I would have moved my car. That was the one drawback to his whole experience, a lack of communication when it counted. On the day the work was to be started, the crew showed up on time, we met the foreman and discussed how and what would occur during the entire project. The crew got started around 9 A.M. and were completed with the job by 1 P.M. The foreman doubled checked the area for nails and debris, answered our questions and explained the company's warranty. We paid the balance and he was on his way. Overall it was a smooth operation except for the few hiccups mentioned. The work was of good quality and my neighbors commented on the look of my roof. As it turned out, one of my neighbors just had their roof replaced by another roofing company and it took them 2 days to complete the job, and the crew was very noisy with shouting and playing loud music. I'm glad we did not have that kind of experience.

They arrived with any army and worked steady all day. I'm not sure if they even took a lunch break. They removed the old shingles and all the plywood and disposed of it. When they left you would never know they had been there. They even rolled a magnetic roller over our driveway to pick up any stray nails. We had the old roof replaced because it leaked. We have had no issues with the new roof.

They did a very nice job, we thought the price was reasonable, and they cleaned up well. We would recommend them.

From the tear out, to the installation of the new roof and clean up, they were respectful of my home and myself. The new roof was a far better look and I haven't had to call them over at all because it hasn t showed any problems. The price was fair in my eyes and I believe that I got a good quality roof.

The 5 man crew finished the job in one day. They cleaned up after themselves but the materials they used were cheap. The roof ended up leaking afterwards and needed to be fixed again. They weren't too professional while at work. I wasn't satisfied with the quality of work and wouldn't recommend them to friends.

They got here with their 7 man crew and were done in one day. They cleaned up after themselves really well. You couldn t even tell that they had been here. There have been no problems at all with our roof. They called afterwards to see if I was satisfied with the job, and also to ask questions about the service that they provided. The other prices that I got from other contractors in the area were twice as much.

The gutters were cut here on site to custom fit. The gutters they used was very nice and of high quality. The men showed up when they were scheduled. They did a nice job of cleaning up after themselves. They also kept us informed of what was going on. They did haul away our old gutters as part of their service.

Tidewater Roofing did an excellent job. The workers were very respectful and I liked the way they were so accurate with their service. The quality of work is outstanding and I would hire them again for sure.

Tidewater Roofing worked very hard to get my new shingles on my roof. I was happy with the entire experience and my roof looked great when they were done. One of the great things about this company was that they made sure every nail and every little thing was picked up before they left.
