I’ll start by saying I wouldn’t recommend this company at all. I’m in the military so my time is limited. I initially contacted this company around March/April 2021 for leaks I was experiencing with my roof. I was quoted $3k to remove an attic vent on the second level attic that was causing leaks and to repair leaks in the attic of the first level of my home. They removed the second level attic vent and repaired that leak. The problem began with first level attic. They removed the vinyl siding along the roof line and sealed it. So I thought the problem was solved. A couple of weeks later, it rained so I checked to see if there were any leaks. There was still a leak dripping in the same spot but this time there was multiple leaks. I contacted the employee (who will remain nameless) that I was still experiencing leaks. He came out and told me in order to identify the leak, he will need to perform a $450 water test. I paid them $3k already but okay. He preformed the water test and said the leaks was coming from a second level window installed incorrectly. He said the company HE WORKS FOR would charge me another $1500 for the work. But he would just do it on the side for me $250. I thought it was sketchy that an employee who works for the company would use the company resources as a side hustle but at that point, I just wanted it fixed. So I paid said employee, he sealed the window. I THOUGHT problem solved. I’m in the Navy so I’m not home often. A couple of weeks later it rained again, same leaks but this time it’s progressed more. I called “employee” and he said he’ll send one of his guys out to check out what’s going on. His side guy never came so I had to call him again. When he finally came, they drilled a metal sheet above the window and let it sit there until it rained again to see if in fact, that’s where the leak was coming from. It rained again but it wasn’t leaking as much this time so the same “employee” came out, removed the metal sheet that sat above my window for a couple weeks and sealed the window again. It rained again, and the same leaks appeared but this time on both ends of the lining of the attic. So instead of calling the “employee”, I called the company. I explained to them that their employee came out a couple times to try and fix the leaks but it’s still leaking. Now this is where it becomes a mess, the company never knew the employee was coming out to my home on company time, so they made their employee refund me for the amount they charged me on the side. They apologized and offered to send someone else out this time. The new employee who was kind, reviewed all the work that was done prior and said now he recommended that flashing is to be installed under the siding of the house. Why wasn’t that recommended to begin with?!?! This new employee said he would get back with me in two days with the amount for the new quote. After everything I went through, I still considered this company business. After two days went by, no phone call. So a couple days later I called the company and asked for the new quote for ADDITIONAL work I was quoted for that I never got. The receptionist said they have to contact another company before they could give me an accurate quote. This company NEVER called me back at all. So I’m assuming they just washed their hands of the poor, costly work that was performed. Of course, I called another company who said The Roofing Company overcharged me, and quoted me for a lesser price than they quoted me. Unless you want to go through what I experienced with this backwards, unprofessional, non-reliable and expensive company, I wouldn’t recommend you using them.

I requested a quote for a roof leak repair around a vent stack and was told there was a $295 charge for the estimate because the home is for sale. I did not use their service since other companies were not charging for repair estimates.
Response from The Roofing Company

"Hi [Member Name Removed], It was explained that the up front $295 fee will be deducted from the estimate. Per our fee letter, which you can have a copy of at your request: If The Roofing Company, Inc. is awarded the work, this cost will be applied to the cost of the job, making it: “a free service”. Very pleased. Job went smoothly. Chuck did the estimate. Kevin and James did the work. Prompt. Very professional. I thought the cost was reasonable. Because the light diffuser was towards the front of the house and I wanted the roof penetration on the backside of the house, they made an S-curve in the tunnel in the attic. To further complicate the S-curve challenge, the roof penetration was over the furnace return air box plenum. Kevin and James did a great job in assembling the tunnel sections to fit in a relatively tight space.

I have relied on The Roofing Company for all work on my home’s roof since 2006. Brian Chalsma is an absolute professional who is passionate and meticulous about his work. He is thorough, explains everything, and is respected by his team, who also speak highly of him. I recently discovered a bad leak and drywall damage and The Roofing Company expedited my job prior to additional expected rainfall which would have caused more severe damage. Christine made the estimate, scheduling, and payment processes easy; and CJ and Kevin were prompt, personable, professional, knowledgeable, skilled, and detailed in their work. This company stands out as a professional team that is fair, honest, and talented. I trust them completely and will not hesitate to call them and hire them for all future repairs and replacements.

This is usually the best company for slate roof maintenance. The original estimate for yearly maintenance was made using a drone. However, when the roofers came to do the actual repairs, they found additional problems. The actual price was more than double the estimate. Although drone estimates are safer, they obviously may not be accurate.

Called the Roofing Company because I had hired them several times in the past for major roof sheathing replacement, chimney leak and vent stack rework and they had been responsive in setting up on-site inspection with possible solutions. Very much impressed with that work so I referred my problem with the patio roof leak to them. The inspector showed up within several days (right at their schedule date and time). His investigation revealed that when I had siding installed, the siding company had to remove the gutter and associated sheathing around the eaves to install the siding. They then reinstalled the sheathing but lapped the edges in the wrong procedures so that water leaked behind the surfaces instead of shedding it outside the lip. I was impressed that he had found the problem and approved them to do the repair. The inspector stated they had a 5-6 week workload to clear before they would be able to do the work. I approved the schedule and deposited 50% of the estimate ($1,100 total). During the waiting period we had several major storms and by communications with the front office, over the phone and email, asked if they could delay slightly the repair work so they could do some other major storm damage repair work but would try to keep my work as close to the schedule as they could. I told them that it wasn't a problem and they rescheduled for a 2 week delay. I had to contact them to change the date again because of a situation I had and they agreed. When we finally got to the repair date, the work crew showed up exactly at the scheduled time and immediately started the work. When they removed all the sheathing they found some rot in the soffet and eaves and replaced the bad wood. They installed all new cladding (made in the truck for custom fit) and replaced and properly secured the guttering. The foreman said there would be no additional charge for replacing the wood and charged me for exactly what the estimate was. While this is a large company with (I imagine) a large clientele they were responsive to my needs. I gave them a "B" for responsiveness ONLY because of the long initial schedule date, but once that date was committed they were eager to work within the agreed schedule. This is my "go to" company for all things roof related.

Initial consultation was in February, 2017. I had such a difficult time with this company. Got the estimate for the work from BK, seemed reasonable. We set up the schedule and Travis was the project manager. When he got to the house he said that a crane to get the roofing materials up on the roof wouldn't work and that it was going to be another $500 for the manual labor. We protested since we were told by BK that the crane would fit fine. Travis said, "well, he shouldn't have told you that...". First red flag. In the end, we were not charged for the labor. When the work was done there was a gap between the new roof and the gutter - in some places at least two or three inches wide, essentially making the gutters useless. I wanted this fixed, and they came back, charged us another $475 to install a drip edge along a section of the front porch. But there were still gaps in several prominent places along the roof. I was not pleased. Travis said that the drip edge wasn't technically required because the house is old or some such grandfathered code issue. I said that that didn't matter to me, that it needed to be fixed and that if I were to ever sell the house the gaps between the new $10,650 roof and gutters would be an indication to me as a buyer that the work was done improperly and I did not want that liability on my hands. A lot of back and forth - leaving messages for Travis that were not returned, etc. - with them for a month on how to resolve the issue and after a lot of hassle I said that I did not want to have Travis as the project manager anymore because he was non-communicative and unhelpful. Christine facilitated changing my point of contact and was then told that the production supervisor Kevin would contact me. Again, lots of back and forth with him, through emails and phone calls. He came to the house and said essentially the same thing as Travis, that the code changed or something and that it wasn't required. I again reiterated that the gaps needed to be filled and after looking at all of the roof he said "yeah, the salesman probably should have built the cost of the drip edge into your initial estimate but I guess he didn't know it would be an issue..." Ok, here's where it gets really bad. So, Kevin then says to me that they could install a drip edge either they just tack it onto the shingle and roof itself - the cheaper method - or they would have to remove the shingles, add the drip edge, and replace the shingles - the more expensive way. I asked for an estimate for the less expensive option, he did some drawings and, again, after leaving messages that were not returned and calling Christine several times (she was lovely, by the way, and I think she did what she could), I finally get an estimate for adding the drip edge in the places where the roof and gutter do not meet: 131 linear feet for another $1,370 (November 9, 2017). After consulting two other sources, I was told to not allow anyone to install drip edges unless they are slipped up UNDER the shingles, and that doing it any other way guarantees water going behind /underneath the drip edges where you don't want it, and that the cost to do so, especially by this method, was astronomical and absurd. That said, I stopped all communication with this company and would not recommend this company to anyone. I wanted to speak with the owner about how difficult the process had been and how dissatisfied I was but by the time I got the estimate to improperly install additional drip edge I had no interest in fighting anymore and had no faith that there would be a reasonable resolution. The attached photo is the only example I have on my iPhone. All of the other photos and videos are on the iPad, which I don't have with me today. The gaps in many other locations are much more severe.
Response from The Roofing Company

"[Member Name Removed], We are sorry to hear you were not satisfied with the service you received. We are committed to providing both quality workmanship and quality service. The last correspondence on file is when Kevin emailed you the quote for the drip edge installation per your request. We were unaware you had further questions or concerns, our apologies. It seems there is some misunderstanding as to how the drip edge would be installed and the effectiveness that the process would provide. This work was included in the "Recommended but not included" portion of the original contract as well, just to clarify that the estimator did in fact document it. Again, we are very sorry that there have been misunderstandings and gaps in communication up to this point. We would love for you to give us a chance to make things right. I am happy to work out a time for the owner to come and meet with you in person to discuss. Feel free to call me if you would like me to schedule this. Christine"

It could not have gone better. Every pre-work interface with them (personal or via e-mail) was courteous and timely. Scheduling was prompt, and when they arrived on site, their work was efficient and flawless. We could not have asked for better, and in fact, they will be returning to complete more work on our roof in the new year (2018).

I called to ask for an estimate, and because I had made the claim with my insurance company they were going to charge me $275 to come out and give me an estimate. It is within my right to get several estimates before hiring a company, and I don't feel I should have to pay for that estimate. I have called many other places as well as my mother who lives in FL who just got hit by Irma and she is having to deal with the same thing and she has not had to pay anyone to come out to give her an estimate. What a disappointment being they clearly have a good rating on here.

Overall a good company to work with. Very professional and committed to quality work. One reason I selected them was that they are a GAF certified roofer. I choose the GAF gold warranty package which costs extra but provides a GAF manufacturer lifetime warranty for the roof and workmanship. Roofing Company also provides yearly free inspections of the roof. My only complaint is that the job took longer that promised to complete and there didn't seem to be any sense of urgency from the roofing crew to complete the job.

Gentleman came out and went into my attic. Told me I didn't have a roof leak. He stated that the insulation had come from around the hose causing condensation. This was making the drywall damp and had been over a period of time causing the overall damage. However he could replace the rubber boot on my roof and tape up my AC vent hose that was causing the damage for $692. He told me that I just needed to go to Home Depot to pick up the rubber boot and metalic duck tape. I got to Home Depot and explained to him what I was looking for. The gentleman at Home Depot recommended that I get a second opinion. He stated that this in his opinion excessive in cost and would only put a bandaid on AC hose if this was the overall problem.

They were recommend by a neighbor. Representative came out and tried to take advantage because I was a female. Looked at problem and claimed there was no roof leak, however it was my AC pipe leaking instead. But wanted to charge me $692.00 to repair non-leak and told me to go to Home Depot to pick up metallic duck tape. After visiting Home Depot and not knowing any better I was told by representative at Home Depot to get a second opinion. I texted the guy from the roofing company and declined his services after all.
