The only minor issue was the truck with the hydraulic crane broke down in my driveway. They were able to repair it in a timely manner but the breakdown left some stains on the asphalt from hydraulic fluid. I suspect they will fade with weathering and time but I recently resealed it (also via an Angie's List vendor) so was not expecting the stains.
I'm very happy with my new roof.
We were very happy with Michael E. Thompson roofing and the team that installed the roof. Mike was very responsive to our calls, both before and after the roof replacement. Nelson and his team did a great job with our Gambrel roof and the final price was less than Mike's original estimate. Roof looks great and we are very pleased with our experience. I would definitely hire them again.
Mike is very knowledgeable and courteous. He provided quality materials and modified the contract to include all specifics I requested. The installation crew was quite another story. I had to remove black marks from my siding, shutters, and garage door ... some scratches I could not remove. They did not comply with the manufacturer's instructions for weatherproofing the Velux skylights (I'm not saying that the deviations will cause a leak ... just puts me at risk if there is a problem). Debris from the roof also ripped open one of my window screens. There are loose nails under two of the shingles ... they are up high were I cannot get to them. I have contacted Mike by phone and email requesting he have someone remove the nails from under the shingles, and return my front window screen (he took it to have it repaired) but to date there has been no follow up communication or action from Mike. But for these discrepancies I would be pleased with the job.
Update. No one knocks the ball out of the park every time at bat and though there were a couple issues with this job they have all been resolved. Mike and his crew made things right and the roof looks great.
The entire process was absolutely delightful! They started on the start date finished the Roof Replacement in 1 day it blew our minds. The roof looked great! Mike & his crew returned the following day to install the new siding & gutters. That process was finished in 3 days & turned out beautiful. Everything was cleaned up & our yard looked better after they were done. They raked our flower beds for us during clean up.
We will be calling Mike in the Spring to paint the Interior of our house. We are happy that we finally found a great contractor & someone we consider a new friend..
Mike & his crew came in on the day we had scheduled on time & worked like a fine oiled team. They had my roof completely torn off within 3 hours. Me & my daughter were simply amazed at the speed in which that was done. They installed our new roof the same day & it looks great. The following day Mike & his crew returned the following day to remove & install our new siding & gutters. Over the next 2 days they worked steady & the end result was more then we could have expected. Our yard was cleaner after all the work & they cleaned up then before. Absolutely the best contractor experience we have ever had & plan on having Mike back to paint the interior of our home soon.
Mike was referred to me by a Co-Worker at Mary Washington Hospital. I have thanked her many times for putting us in contact with such a great contractor.
