Very professional! Installed a complete top of the line 3-ton Trane XVi20 system. I obtained estimates from two other contractors, one from our local home improvement store and one from another local HVAC company. The home improvement company (who actually contracts out the work, wanted almost $7000 more for the same system, the local company was comparably priced to Payne. I have used Robert Payne for system maintenance and have always been satisfied. Same result! Recommended them to a friend and he had a new system installed about a week later.

Estimator arrived soon after company was called.  Presentation was thorough but not overdone.  Installation was scheduled for only a few days later.  Installation went smoothly and was completed faster than estimated.  System is working fine.

Ummm, waiting to hear back from them about some options like I asked for when quoting. They only seem to want to push Trane.

Left a message via Angie's List messaging to R.B. Payne evening of July 7; R.B. Payne responded at the opening of their business day on July 8, at 8:30 a.m.  Based on my two-minute description of the problem, R.B. Payne sent a polite and fully qualified technician when they had availability, five hours later. This response was impressive for a new customer on on of the hottest, busiest days of the year.
The technician systematically identified a double-failure and obtained parts from the R.B. Payne shop, six miles away. In order to ensure that he correctly identified the double-failure, he changed each failed component independently of the other and tested the system in-between, to ensure that only malfunctioning parts were replaced.
To cap it off, the technician help us to get a significant, new-customer discount on the work. The price was excellent.
I am impressed and will be a continuing customer.

A prior HVAC service company had said i needed over a $1000 in HVAC repairs.
I called Robert Payne. they responded in only a couple of days.  Their onsite tech said most of the service the prior company had said was "must have", was, in fact, not needed.
They filled my  AC system and performed a thorough inspection.  My bill as only a little over $300.
I highly recommend this company!

I had several companies provide me quotes. This company had the best price and included quality parts, professional service, and fast and punctual service.

When the time came to replace the heat/ac in my home I went to Angie's list and chose 4 contractors with A ratings.
I knew which equipment I was going to buy so I chose contractors that were qualified to install what I wanted, (i.e. factory certified
technicians.) 
  I got quotes from the 4 contractors, all were professional, prompt and knowledgeable. 
 Robert B. Payne Inc was not the cheapest quote but I chose them because the sales rep. was very knowledgeable, took time to explain the equipment I wanted and exactly what they would do. They have been in business a long time and are family owned.
  I got their quote on Monday, made my decision on Tuesday and they installed new equipment on Thursday. The Techs were on time, very professional, neat (no mess in house) and did a great job. I have been in the construction industry 28 years and I know quality work when I see it. The Tech took time to explain the new equipment and how to use it. He was very patient with my questions and answered in terms I could understand.
 Overall we are very happy with our experience from beginning to end. We  would strongly recomend Robert B Payne.

I've been using Robert B. Payne for several years. They are always courteous, knowledgable, and in time. They are conscious of keeping your home clean. They also go the "extra mile" and point out ways to save, or things that may need attention soon. Every time I've called, they have been friendly and welcoming. Great company!!

I did not give them the work after I researched the part cost and a couple of do it yourself videos on the repair.  I had sticker shock that labor was going to be $580 for a 5 to 15 minute job.  I understand that some of the pricing may include warranty for labor but the part itself has a warranty and the job was not at all complicated.  ALso, why can the company not itemize the estimate? I as a customer should be able to make an informed decision by understanding exactly what I am paying for.  Labor, parts, taxes, warranty etc...
Also, during the scheduling I was given a window of after 12PM the next day. I was explained that it could be late in the evening based on their work load or I could pay an emergency fee and they would see me the same day.  If you buy a service contract then the response time would get priority over those without the service contract.
If I had gone with this company it would have been 3 - 5 days waiting during 32 degree nights and I would have paid way too much for the repair.  Luckily I have furnances on both levels and broke out the space heaters down stairs to keep us warm.

We have a maintenance contract so our heat/AC gets serviced regularly, they are ALWAYS able to work around our schedules and our systems work great. The one time our heater broke, they were out to fix it fast. They've installed a new AC unit and now we're getting a furnace humidifier. They also provide our heating oil. We're very happy with all of their services.

Showed up on time, were courteous and got the job done.

They were very nice.  However, the rate for labor was very high. I thought the rates were too high for the amount of time spent here.

After another company that did not know what they were talking about tried to oversell us a minisplit system, we reached out to R.B. Payne.  We saw the feedback about them on Angie's List and decided to check out what they had to offer.  We now have a wonderful system that is priced in the range we were expecting and works great.  The four gentlemen who (two crews) who showed up were always professional, very knowledgable, punctual, and hard-working.  The work went much faster than originally estimated because they had the extra crew available to place the units.  We couldn't be happier.  When our upstairs minisplit system (outdated now because it is eight years old) dies on us, we will be looking to R.B. Payne to replace it with their Mitsubishi system.

For the most part, the job went well.  There was one issue that caused water damage to some personal property.  There was a hole in the condensation copper tubing they used and when the new system began operating, over the next few days, water leaked from the hole and damaged some personal property below.  They returned promptly, resolved the issue and reimbursed me for the full value of my items damaged.  Even though, I could have gone with a company with a less expensive quote,  I chose Robert B. Payne for their reputation and I am so glad I did.  They have excellent customer service!

I was desperate for a new heater, they were able to provide quick service but I paid for it.  Probably $1000 too much. Crew was somewhat inexperienced although professional and prompt.  Two follow up visits to correct mistakes made by the initial crew from a senior techician who of course tried to sell me an unnecessary $100 thermostat for close to $500.  I looked at my literature for my existing thermostat and explained to him all he needed to do was install a relay which he did at no charge in addition to fixing the first crews filter housing error.  There was obviously something wrong when first installed and maybe still now, someone from their office called for a follow up visit several times, the first crew obviously told the home office this install wasn't right although no one ever admitted it.
I'm due for a six month follow up visit (standard practice), we'll see if that happens.
Good news is the heater works!  Makes funny noises but we're getting used to them.

Everyone we were in contact with was very professional and knew what they were talking about.  The gentlemen who installed our new heat pump this morning were very skilled and quick.  I anticipated an entire days work and they had the system installed before noon after arriving at 7:30 a.m.

Excellent service. They first replaced our smaller heat pump in April 2012. Then our larger second one went and we used them again to replace that April 2013. Both times they arrived on time for the estimate appointment, wore shoe covers and went over all our options. They were on time, laid down liners on my floor and wore shoe covers any time they entered my home. They cleaned everything before they left and even took the time to explain the new thermostat and how it works. I would definitely recommend them to anyone, and wouldn't hesitate to call back if I ever need this type service again.
