They are knowledgeable, do their utmost to resolve issues, and don't attempt to sell unnecessary or cost-prohibitive services.  Furthermore, we have been using them for years, and they always do an excellent job.  This time was no exception.

We've actually used Rapidan twice. In 2010 they tried to figure out what the sewage smell was that we kept smelling around the house when it would rain. They gave us some lower cost options for treating our septic tank ourselves and removed a ton of hair from the shower drain, which seemed to have been causing the odor. They showed up when they said they would, and were very courteous and talked us through everything. They laid out our options for us and we got to pick the outcome that we were most comfortable with, which saved us money. We were so happy with them that when my husband tried to fix the water lines under the sink and they wouldn't stop leaking we finally decided to call in the pros (2012). Again, Rapidan showed up on time and were very courteous and talked us through everything. They laid out our options for us and again we got to pick how to proceed. We also had them try to diagnose why the overall water pressure in the house seemed much worse than when we moved in. It turned out to be a clogged filter under the house. They replaced it for us and showed us how to do it so we could save ourselves money and and quot;DIYand quot; in the future. This service was a bit more expensive than the first because they did more, but it was the best money we ever spent to have a non-leaking sink and normal water pressure again. Both crews that have come into our house were very polite and courteous. We will use Rapidan for any of our plumbing needs in the future.

Over all the responded fast , less than 2 hours but the guy acted like he didnt know what he was doing took way to long didnt get it right and over charged me

Rapidan Plumbing I’ve used Rapidan Plumbing twice. My first experience started out very well. The plumber from Rapidan was professional, timely and knowledgeable. He took water samples, gave good suggestions, made plans to upgrade my water treatment system and promptly forgot about me. After several weeks of hearing nothing, I received a letter from Rapidan Plumbing thanking me for using their services. Rather than ignoring the letter, I wrote to Tommy Newton (The” Bossman”) and explained how I had been blown-off by his boys. Tommy, apparently taking customer service very seriously, corrected the situation immediately. So, first experience went from F to an A. Second experience: As before, timely, professional and knowledgeable. This time the job was a wax toilet ring / flange and a leaky shower faucet. The toilet job went well, but was $582.00, the shower was going to cast another $200.00 and something. The plumber quickly repaired the toilet flange and seal, and we skipped on the shower. After the plumber left (about 30 minutes) my 5yr old (42lbs) son got off the toilet and it cracked where the nut had been a touch over tightened. So, bugger!!! Here are my grades for Rapidan Plumbing.
Timeliness – A+
Knowledge – B
Professionalism – B- (I can’t go higher because of the crack and being blown-off)
Price – C (Rapidan is on the pricy side, but I think it’s because they use only high end / quality parts.) I would recommend giving them a try, but be aware off the issues I have had with them.

I was a loyal customer for 23 years. At first, they were like a family operation that was reasonable and fair in their price. As they have grown over the years, they have obviously become an operation where each plumber creates his own price allowing him to make lots of profit. The last service they performed for me was to run a power line from my well 70 feet to my house for $1400.00. I later discovered that the line was only 4-5 inches underground and was just a cable - no insulating pipe. Later they wanted to run a pvc pipe from my well to my house for $4000.00. I chose to have a complete new well dug with installation and pump for $4800.00 from another company. When I compared these prices with other professionals, including my brother, who was Executive Director of the National Association of Heating and Plumbing Contractors, I was told I was being taken for a ride. I wrote a letter to Rapidan Plumbing stating my displeasure with the service only to get a letter which made no excuses for their operation and basically blew me off.
