Custom Stonescaping recently installed a flagstone patio in my backyard, and I highly recommend them. It was a pleasure to work with everyone at Custom Stonescaping - Jeff, the owner, was on site every day and Jaime in the office answered any questions I had. Maynor and his crew quickly and efficiently tackled the labor of removing the old deck, removing the old pavers, and dismantling the existing shed. Each day they were on site, they were careful to move the existing patio furniture and other items (including shrubs) outside the fenced-in yard while they worked and then returned them inside the yard at the end of the day so that my property was safe and secured. The magic, though, came watching them cut and place/install the flagstone. It is artistry. It was like watching a painter develop a masterpiece on a canvas. They placed each stone in such a way that it complemented the adjacent stone in size and color. The finished product, including cleaning up the landscaping, is absolutely beautiful. It's better than I ever imagined, and I'm enjoying my backyard more than I have in the past.

Custom Stonescaping was fantastic in replacing our front walkway and step along with landscaping the front area. Ron our designer listened to what we wanted and implemented the plan design perfectly. He was onsite every day of the construction and explained the process of the project and asked if any changes were needed. Carlos and his crew were awesome. They worked hard and efficiently each day. The comfort level and customer service I had with Custom Stonescaping was impeccable. I highly recommend them for your project!

Jeff has a great eye for design. Over a decade ago he completed a patio because the large trees behind our home would not allow grass to grow. He did drainage work, the patio, capped our retaining wall, the landscaping around the patio, a waterfall and lighting. When we needed some work done to our walkway, he created a very nice design and leveled the walkway to eliminate the steep slope by adding two mountain laurel steps. He has an amazing crew that goes above and beyond. There were a few cracks on the porch and they dug out the area and reset the stones rather than just filling in the cracks with mortar. They work well together, cleanup after a workday and are punctual.

We met with roughly 6 or more companies based out of the DC area before choosing Custom Stonescaping. Some either didn't give us the right comfort level regarding their experience, or others were charging outrageous prices (e.g., $40K for a wooden fence for an area that's 40' by 40'). We knew ourselves well enough to know we'd go over any estimate we were provided - simply because we'd change things as we go. So, we wanted to start with a price that would allow us to do just that, and that is add things as we go but stay within a budget. We had an immense amount of work done as a result of a prior home remodel and expansion, and the yard and driveway were trashed due to the home construction. We met with Horacio their PM, and we immediately liked his background (Civil Engineer). He's courteous and prompt, and I repeatedly bombarded him with email and phone calls during the entire process, and he answered and followed up on everything. I believe I worked their team (either no. 11 or 17) - I don't remember which unfortunately but they were rockstars and showed up every morning at the same time and worked throughout the day. I had the work done in late fall (for the back yard) and early winter (for the front yard and driveway), and they were adept at getting things completed under all conditions. They were fast and provided me with a lot of latitude to make changes along the way. We were concerned about dust and damage to the new home because of the yard and driveway work that needed to be done. To their credit they were cognizant of that and took the appropriate steps to ensure the home was protected during certain work phases. They've also been terrific at the post landscaping and stonescaping follow-up. Responding to all email and questions that I have, which I think says a lot about a company. I'd hire them again and recommend them to anyone that asks. Our end product looks great. We love the pavers on the driveway, the stone on the back patio, and the larger fire pit built into the patio.

We're thrilled with the job Custom Stonescape did. The work looks beautiful--can't wait til the weather warms up to start enjoying our beautiful new backyard! They were consumate professionals, from bid through the execution which went in 2 phases, the major phase being the hardscape piece, and in the spring, the planting piece. Horacio, the project manager, was incredibly responsive and diligent. His guys worked really hard day after day, and acted immediately on any feedback or questions I occassionally had. I'd highly recommend using them for a job of any size!

Ron, Benny, and the team at Custom Stonescaping have just completed our patio and landscape project and we are blown away with the results and the entire design/construction process. We are actually a bit sad it is over because they were so wonderful to work with! Initially, Ron came to the house for a free consultation. He listened to our high level wishes, provided an abundance of ideas, then quickly produced a detailed quote and drawing with pricing, plant types, hardscape, etc. There was no obligation at this point but we already knew we wanted to work with this company. Not only did he put in this upfront (free) effort, he was incredibly friendly and genuine (and loved our moody dog which was a nice bonus). Ron has a TON of experience, and his knowledge of plants, their blooming cycles, height variation, maintenance requirements, etc, produced a plan that was well thought through and will allow our landscape to be flowering/colorful at all points throughout the season (even adding some all year greens in places so a bed isn't bare over the winter). The communication was perfect between acceptance of the quote and start of construction. Once construction started, Ron checked in with the team and us every single day to make sure the daily plan was clear and we were happy. The construction team's work ethic was superior and they completed the project on schedule and within budget. ZERO complications even as we added some things along the way. It was an absolute dream team and we hope to find more projects for them in the future. Thank you Custom Stonescaping, it was an absolute pleasure to work with you.

A+. Custom Stonescaping has done two major jobs on our home to address flooding abatement and storm water retention; and several jobs on our rental properties. Each job addressed the underlying functional issues but also resulted in aesthetically pleasing appearances....actually masonry works of art. We could not be more happier with the work, pricing, and responsiveness of the dedicated team of technicians. One additional advantage we found was that Jeff Reynolds has the eye for design. There was no need to get a landscape designer involved as we did initially. Jeff and his team do it all.

Ron and his team were SO professional and helpful. Ron came out for a quote and design plan within 24 hours and helped us design the backyard of our dreams. His team completely excavated our yard (including some very annoying, persistent bamboo) and meticulously put in gorgeous flagstone. They paid attention to detail and gave us exactly what we needed. We will definitely recommend them and use them again!

Guy to talk to is Horacio Correa. He came out to review project and give an estimate. During the project he repeatedly came out to make sure it was being done properly. The company has flagstone and brick laid out at its entrance so you can see what it would like like on your property. The crew did a great job. Carefully protected lawn, driveway and cleaned up daily. When finished they also added sod around damaged lawn areas and mulch along flagstone wall.

Custom Stonescaping did a fantastic job, from initial bid to project completion. Our Project Mgr Ron got us an on-site quote within 3 days of initial outreach and was always available for questions. We solicited several bids, and while Custom Stonescaping wasn't the lowest, they certainly weren't the highest either. We were happy to choose their bid based on their responsiveness and professionalism and we were not disappointed, as that carried over into the work as well. Over 2 weeks, the crew did impressive work while being respectful of our property and receptive to our requested edits to the design. The crew's lack of "BS" was refreshing, and we got everything just the way we wanted it, even if it took some re-configuring and extra work by the crew. Their skill was impressive, and I'm glad I didn't decide to to part of the project myself to save some $ (as I had originally planned) as my work wouldn't have been even close to the standard they set. We're quite happy with our new yards, patio, and wall. Thanks for Custom Stonescaping!

We were interested in installing a flagstone patio and walkway in our back yard.  We worked with Aaron who was always professional and prompt.  Aaron provided an estimate for a patio, fire pit and walkway, and he was very willing to work within our budget.  We appreciated the showroom so that we could see the actual products they offer.  While we didn't ultimately utilize Custom Stonescaping for the work, I did appreciate the vetting process with them and will consider them for similar work in the future.

***** 5 Stars For A 5 Star Job.  I highly recommend Custom Stonescaping. Evan Johnson help design a beautiful flagstone stoop and front walkway along with planting beautiful shrubs for that finishing touch to our front yard. Working with Evan Johnson along with his highly professional staff was excellent from start to finish. The price was very reasonable and we couldn't be happier.

Custom Stonescaping LLC does great work. I met with the owner Jeff back in May and he said he may be able to get my job in sooner at the time he was quoting a 4 week wait time to start. He did call me one day and was able to move me up two weeks sooner. The crew was onetime and did great work and only came to me when they had a question of how I may want something to be done or look. My experience with them was great and have no problem recommending them to anyone in the NOV area.

The landscaper did not respond to two emails and one phone-call asking him to follow-up and send the proposal. We could not in good faith go with a landscaping provider that takes one month to provide a proposal for a project with $14,000 with no excuse as to the delay and no communication or response in the interim about when the proposal would arrive.  The $14,000 price tag was comparable to what we received from other landscapers. I cannot speak to the quality of the work, which looks nice according to the photos online.

My wife and I have decided to do a pretty big back yard project of a new walkway and steps leading to our pool. I met with several Hard-scape companies in fact at least five or six. Jeff Reynolds the owner of Custom Stonescaping came out to my house and within three days mailed me a package with a design drawing and copies off all his licenses as well as information on all the material. He responded to all my email questions within 24 hrs. Out of all six companies he is the only one that did all of that. None of the others even bothered to do a drawing. Most just left a product book. Some of the companies acted like they didn't even want my business. One didn't even answer two questions I sent them by email for 4 weeks. His website is the very best hardscapeing  companies website I have seen in NOVA. Many of the others I met with didn't even have one. His site has beautiful examples of his past work. My experience with Custom Stonescaping so far has been excellent and nothing like the last reviewer who gave them a bad review. Even though our job has not started yet I felt I should review my experience as it was what I had expected from all of them, but received only from Jeff. I will update my review and include pictures after the project is completed and I expect that from his past ratings and performance it will be excellent. If it's not I will of course update my review, but as of now out of all the companies I met with he clearly did more to show his interest in getting the job and that's why we picked him.

I had an initial estimate in August 2014 for some edging to a landscaping area.  After receiving the estimate, my husband and I took time to drive out to the showroom and see what other stone options were available.  I emailed Evan, who sent our estimate, to get the price on a couple other stones we saw at the showroom.  After long delays in responses or no responses from Evan at all during winter (which was the off-season), I contacted the company again in March 2015 to request yet again a formal estimate for the new stones we liked so that we could submit the estimate to our HOA for approval of the project.  The owner called me back on March 18 and after a rather unpleasant call in which he wanted me to re-measure the landscaping area, he said he would get back to me with the estimate.  I have yet to hear back from him.  I don't have time to chase after this company to give them my business.

"Evan initially and quickly provided a free design and estimate for [Member name removed]. During many months time, [Member name removed] had visited the showroom, sought HOA approval, changed the materials, and never followed up with Evan about a final material decision and plan that we could move forward with. [Member name removed] then contacted me, Jeff, (I am the owner), directly. I asked her what she was planning to do. [Member name removed] did not know if she was going to use the pavers as a garden border (which was originally planned) in a small space off a driveway or use them to drive on the pavers. I gave her options of either a paver garden border edge to retain the mulch on a small garden bed between her and the neighbor, or to simply eliminate the flowerbed all together and install the pavers that could be driven on. I gave her some possible paver styles and colors that would look great with the existing driveway. [Member name removed] still didn't know what she wanted. I explained if she could simply send a picture to me of the area via text or email, I could assist her in a decision that day complete with pricing, and recommend the proper paver style to use. I never received a picture, [Removed member name] was unwilling to provide any dimensions or decide on a paver style and color. If [Member name removed] used the time spent leaving us an F rating on Angie's list to simply send me a picture and make a paver decision we could have provided an estimate and this would be a non issue. I simply don't understand as a business owner how I am supposed to design, price, and install a project when the homeowner does not know what they want, what materials they want, and won't cooperate with the design process. We at Custom Stonescaping are both extremely responsive with estimates always providing a FREE design as well. We have 5 professional and fully trained teams that can install your project usually starting in a few weeks. If you bothered to read this far, give us a call and see for yourself :)"
