I was referred to Allstate Auto Glass by my insurance company, State Farm, via their contract with Lynx Services following my report that the windshield in my car had been smashed by some snow/ice that fell from a building adjacent to my parked car. I noticed the damage on the day following the end of the record-setting blizzard known as Winter Storm Jonas in January 2016. Allstate normally would have come to where the car was parked to do the windshield replacement, but there was no place for them to park and my car was stranded on a narrow, one-way street which was covered with 12-30 inches of snow. I, therefore, said I would take the car to their shop. I made an appointment, confirmed the appointment on the morning of it, and then drove 30 minutes to the agreed upon location. When I got to the address I'd been told on the phone and confirmed via a text message, I couldn't find any place called "Allstate Auto Glass." When I called the phone number I'd been using, I was told something to the effect that their service tech couldn't come to this location that morning because of the weather (or something), and I was told to come to their shop in Falls Church. I was reluctant to do this because it was difficult to see through the smashed windshield, the traffic was bad due to the city slowly digging out from the blizzard, and Falls Church was an hour in the other direction from which I'd just driven. My options were limited, though, so I went to the Falls Church shop. Things got much better after I arrived at the actual shop. I was greeted promptly, given a gracious apology for the earlier confusion about where I was to go, and then directed to their comfortable waiting room. I was told the replacement would take "an hour to an hour and a half," and at 90 minutes I was told my car was ready. When I checked out, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the replacement cost much less than I was expecting, and I was issued another gracious apology.

I called one of those numbers you see at an intersection advertising replacing windshelds. I called a few other places and compaired prices. I didn't have Angie's List back then, so I couldn't look them up there.
They would do the service in my driveway which was very convenient for me, and at no extra charge. My last windsheld had a small splinter, but it also had thousands of small nicks from stones. It was very hard to see through when the sun was low. Anyway, the point is that I had time to get things right.
The first time they showed up they had the right size windsheld, but it did not have the heating element for my de-icing wippers [which I had asked for on the phone]. They smartly asked that I look at it to ensure it was the right one before they installed it. I said no, and told them what it was missing. They talked to their supplier and came back another day.
When they came back, one installer did the job in about an hour. He cleaned up the inside and outside of the car. The heating elements work, and I have not had any leaks in the last 2 years.
However, there is small issue with the trim. I honestley can say if it was the installers fault or not. But, the plastic/metal trim that snaps onto the A and B pillars on either side of the windsheield have both come off while traveling down the highway. I think what happened was that the plastic snaps that hold the trim in place are irreperably damaged as soon as the trim is removed [on my model]. The installer probably tried to just put the broken ones back on. The snaps are specific to Subarus, so I understand they may not have had them in their service truck, but I expected a full installation and didn't get it.
I bought the snaps for about $10 and tried installing the trim myself. I broke half the snaps and the trim came off. This makes me think the installer may have done everything right since I failed at putting them on too. So, again, I can't say for sure the installer didn't put the trim on, but I don't think he did.

Technician arrived within the promised two hour time window and satisfactorily completed the work and cleanup in little more than half an hour.  Technician was professional, thorough, and highly competent.

They beat the competitions price by $400.00 and completed the repair on-time.  They did cut some existing gutter trim off the car that under normal circumstances I would have been upset but the car had already received several dents and scratches from the storm so I was not concerned.
