About us

The Window Man is a family owned and operated business serving the DC Metropolitan Area, Northern Virginia and parts of Maryland for 30 years. Known as "The Educational Window Company", due to our business philosophy of, "We Educate, You Decide. We don't believe in high-pressure sales pitches or pricing gimmicks. We carry many brands and materials, yes. But our most popular replacement window (and for obvious reasons once you compare) is by far the Infinity from Marvin Ultrex Fiberglass replacement window. 8X stronger than cheap vinyl, the Infinity Ultrex Fiberglass window will never rot, warp, bend or bow! Strong profiles allow for narrow frames and sashes, which allow for more natural light and expanded views. We also carry the industry-leader in Secondary "Storm" Windows, the Mon-Ray High-Performance "Storm" Window. Love your wood windows? Great! Then keep them by simply adding a Mon-Ray Secondary "Storm" Window. We offer FREE In-Home No-Obligation Consultations! Or, if you prefer, you can visit either our fully-staffed "Hands-On" showroom, which is open 6 days a week. In our showroom, you will find full-size, installed windows that you can take for a "test drive" side-by-side-by-side...we believe it's the finest showroom going in all of the replacement window industry. Estimate to installation went incredibly smooth. Ham, the sales rep, visited our house and gave us a competitive estimate on the spot--this was our 2nd vendor estimate. He was very knowledgeable about the older/original windows installed in the houses in our neighborhood. The windows arrived 5 weeks after our order and were installed in one day. The crew did an amazing job and worked hard for 13 hours straight, to get the job finished in one day. We recently ordered new blinds and when the rep was measuring the windows she commented on how "square" our new frames are.

I liked the quality of windows and they are the best. I did a lot of shopping and found their quality looked very good. They worked on the window replacement with triple window panes and air filtration worked well. They followed time line and completed their work in the said time. They installed the windows very well and they had to order a couple of windows that broke while I received a slow response on that but they did a great job. Their pricing was really good as they provided with specific estimate. They cleaned up the place after the job was done. I would use them again and definitely recommend them to others.

Things went very well. It took a while to have the windows ordered but I was kept up to date with their progress and the wait was explained to me before I ordered them. The installation was quick and painless.

The Window Man gave us a firm, fair price for top-of-the-line windows and door and performed superbly for exactly that price. The first crew arrived on the scheduled date at precisely the appointed time, off-loaded all the materials, and began work promptly. A second crew with sheet metal brake and trim materials arrived about three hours later and began working promptly. The foremen and all of the workers were extremely competent and were very efficient and courteous. They were completely finished by about 3PM, a total of only seven and a half hours, including a meticulous clean up which left not the smallest scrap and which also included removing all of the paper products attached to the glass areas and complete washing both inside and outside glass on both windows and the door. All together, it was a great job.

We used them twice, and they have now replaced every window in the entire house, except for two windows that were replaced when we did the kitchen. The quality of the windows is really superior. One set came from Germany and the others were from Sweden. They are really soundproof. When we close the windows, we can't hear all the noise from the school or the football games. I think these are far superior to the Anderson windows that we have in the kitchen that are triple paned. They made sure that everything is a perfect fit.

Briefly: I contacted this firm to ask for a quote to replace a window on my house. We agreed that an estimator would come to my house on a Friday, but he ultimately showed up on the preceding Thursday when I wasn't home. When I called later to investigate I was assured that he had been out to the house and would send me a quote shortly by email. I have yet to receive that quote. I wish I could give them a good review, but in my book effective communication is rather critical to a good business relationship. I would recommend avoiding this company.

The salesman, Jon Schoenike, came to my home, and provided a written estimate, with a cost breakout of the windows and installation. The installation took place about 6 weeks later -- Mr. Han and his crew arrived at 8:30 a.m., and completed their work by 4:30 p.m. The crew was professional, efficient, courteous, and cleaned up their work area before they left. The special octagon window was installed by Dan at a later date -- ditto for Dan's professional expertise. In both instances, the Window Man staff contacted me by phone to let me know the approximate arrival time. I was very pleased with the entire experience.

The installation went beautifully. The contractors were experienced, hard-working, punctual and tidy. This was an unbelievably difficult installation, as some of the windows were huge and the installers had to carry these gigantic, heavy windows uphill, or hoist them up to the second floor, to get them in. Additionally, the house is over 50 years old and when they removed the old windows, the dry wall fell off. We paid the contractor an extra minimal fee, to fix the drywall, which he did a marvelous job on. There were other problems they encountered, because of the age of the house, but they solved everything flawlessly and we love the windows. They were expensive, but we had a lot of windows and it was a difficult installation, so I think the cost was actually quite low. I recommend this company highly and if you use them, ask that Mr. Han and Mr. Oh, do the installation.

I signed a contract to install a new front door system with sidelight. The contract clearly stated that the company would reinstall my storm door. When a company representative arrived to measure the door opening, he presented me with an addendum to the contract for an additional $100 to cover re-installation of the storm door. They admitted that their salesman made a mistake and should have charged me an additional $100 for the storm door. I saw this as a backdoor effort to increase the price of the contract. I cancelled the contract the following day because I believe that, if their salesman made a mistake, he should have been liable for the increase in price. Their reply to my allegation that they were in violation of the signed contract was that the contract was not valid until it was signed by their owner. My position is that I signed the contract in good faith and they should have honored it.
Response from The Window Man

"THE FOLLOWING IS OUR RESPONSE TO THE COMPLAINT FROM THE MEMBER: SHE SIGNED A SALES AGREEMENT WITH OUR COMPANY FOR THE SALE AND INSTALLATION OF ONE ENTRY DOOR ON 02/28/06. TO ENSURE THAT WE CAN PERFORM THE SERVICES AGREED UPON, ALL SALES AGREEMENTS ARE SUBJECT TO FINAL APPROVE FOLLOWING THE FINAL MEASURE AND INSPECTION. AT THE TIME OF THE FINAL MEASURE, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THERE WAS A STRONG POSSIBILITY THAT HER EXISTING STORM DOOR WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO BE REINSTALLED, DUE TO THE FACT THAT HER NEW DOOR WOULD NOT BE THE EXACT SAME SIZE, AND THAT IF WE COULD THE CHARGE TO DO SO WOULD BE $180.00 THAT WAS NOT INCLUDED IN HER ORIGINAL ESTIMATE, BECAUSE OF THE POSSIBILITY WE WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO PERFORM THAT SERVICE. WE INFORMED THE MEMBER OF THE SITUATION. SHE WAS NOT HAPPY ABOUT THE SITUATION. WE AGREED THAT IF WE COULD IN FACT INSTALL THE EXISTING STORM DOOR TO HER NEW DOOR, WE WOULD REDUCE THE CHARGE TO $100.00, WHICH IS THE AMOUNT CHARGED BY OUR INSTALLER TO INSTALL THE STORM DOOR. WE WERE NOT ATTEMPTING TO MAKE ANY PROFIT, SIMPLY TO COVER THE BURDEN OF OUR COST. THE MEMBER WAS STILL NOT HAPPY. WE GAVE HER THE OPPORTUNITY TO CANCEL HER SALES AGREEMENT WITHOUT FOREGOING HER DEPOSIT OR ANY OF THE COST FOR THE TIME WE HAD INVESTED IN HER JOB AT THAT POINT. SHE DID IN FACT CANCEL HER SALES AGREEMENT THE VERY NEXT DAY AND WHICH TIME WE ISSUED A FULL REFUND OF HER DEPOSIT."
