Renewal by Andersen of Virginia & Washington DC

The discussion with a very fast speaking agent of this firm, who sounded as if she were reading some arcane qestionairre form lasted about 10 minutes or more with little time for any questions from me. The level of detail questioning from the agent became more of an inquisition and reached a level of absurdity for a simple request to enable their company to market their products and services with a short trip to our home which was clearly defined to be in their service area by their ads. The requirement of the company agent who spoke with me which was not found in any research of this company was that BOTH the husband and wife commit to be present for at least a NINETY MINUTE PRESENTATION in our home!! I rejected that request twice but found it a requirement espoused by this agent!!! As a professional in the world of business marketing, public relations and sound business practices this requirement is not only ill advised but just plain ABSURD! This alleged policy is now what this company represents to me as part of an overall company philosophy and therefore one that I have no interest in ever hiring for any type of business! Bad marketing policies with arrogant customer relations agents foretell bad products and services and a company philosophy of arrogance tells potential customers that the time of an agent of this firm is considered far more valuable than that of a potential customer. What does that tell any reasonable person about service after a purchase? Maybe customers should require the sales agent to bring along thje president of this company? The pejorative impact on the Andersen name which I believe is no doubt often the effect of this company policy at "Renewal by Andersen of Virginia & Washington DC" seems to represent quite a paradox with the Andersen name in windows which is generally found in a variety of independent research to represent a high quality in windows! Too bad that name is diminished by practices found with a company bearing that name here in our area! Quite a disgusting and time wasting experience to call these folks! We will never make that mistake again!!!

RbyAndersen told me that for such a small job I was better off going to home depot, buying windows and installing them myself. Now, that's some wonderful advice.

Replaced 22 windows in 62 year old house, many of the windows very large. Work was done in two days by excellent staff. I have recommended the company to others.

Bill was excellent. He was very thorough and helpful in making our decision. He gave us all of the options and didn't pressure us in any way. We ordered the windows same day and are waiting for the tech person to come over and measure.

Overall, working with Renewal by Anderson was a breeze. Everything - from getting quote, to ordering, to installation was a breeze. We had two custom size patio doors done - the new doors are excellent. The price was a little higher than we wanted to spend on this project, but you get what you pay for.

After moving in to our house, we received several quotes on new windows - one of which was from Renewal by Anderson. While we really liked their windows, it was a really hard sell. They definitely want you to sign before they leave your house, so be prepared! Two of the companies we received estimates from suggested full replacements (trim, etc.), and two said that they could cut out the wood rot, and do partial replacements. Renewal was one that suggested full replacements. The estimate took several hours. We looked at every window, and at the end Robert sat down and calculated the total cost. Having 36 windows, we knew that it was going to be expensive, but it was still more than we had anticipated. As I've stated before, it was a strong sales pitch, and we ended up putting together a contract with the agreement that it still needed our final approval and could be adjusted (number of windows, etc.). One of the benefits of their company is that they offer financing, and we were definitely going to need it. However, after looking at our finances, and getting different suggestions from the different companies, we decided to wait and live in the house for a little bit. It was just too much money to make a decision that quickly. When we wrote Robert an email saying that we were going to wait, he wrote us back that he had only agreed to hold the contract and not to cancel it completely, and that he really valued his job, and this was not what he had told his supervisor. While I agree that we should not have put together the contract and had them measure the windows, I also thought there could have been some understanding of wanting to wait (at least until the spring). But, it is clearly commission based. We did not respond, and have not heard anything since.

I ordered four windows for my 1926 row house in July of 2013 and put down a deposit of $2,352. The windows were not installed until mid-September. The installers only reluctantly answered questions I had about the windows. They were also supposed to bring child locks for the windows and they did not have them. Although they did not have an invoice for me, they wanted me to pay the balance of the bill. They said they had been given the wrong paperwork and I said that I would not pay until I had some kind of receipt which they did not provide. As soon as they left, I realized how much darker my house looked and I saw that they had put in tinted windows. They were not the type of windows I had ordered. I had to make multiple phone calls in order to have them agree that they would order the correct glass for the sashes and replace them. Because you have to take down your blinds for installation we were stuck without blinds in our living room and bedroom while I waited another three weeks for the replacements. When the replacements arrived, they had only ordered them for three not four windows! Now I am waiting another 10 days for the last window. In addition, one of our wooden window sills was cracked during the initial installation and we have already found one of the new windows is difficult to raise and lower. They offer a life-time guarantee for these windows and I am quite concerned with the thought of continued interactions with this company in the coming years.

They knew exactly what they are doing with windows. When you look at the over all pricing and quality of their windows, they are great. Their frames are not made of wood, its more made of wood composite, and they also have a cybrex coating on top of that. I couldn't say more things about how great this company is.

RBA does have a quality (but expensive) product. We were put off a bit by the pressure sell (had to decide quickly because prices were significantly increasing in a week) and the disparaging comments on competing products. We have no doubt that we would have been happy with the product and installation, but ultimately, we went with a top-of-the-line vinyl product (at almost half the price of RBA). The look is good and the performance this summer has been outstanding.

Andersen sent two salesmen who took over an hour to give a long-winded presentation, and an estimate which was 10% above any other company we contacted.

The two-man team arrived on time, called before their arrival confirm, and did their work efficiently, professionally, and with no mess. I would recommend this company with no qualms.

They were excellent. Their product is the best out there. I plan on using them again in the future.

They replaced 8 windows. Original windows were 38 years old and some had mold problems. Everything went well, on time. Crew was extremely professional. They were very efficient and neat. We had never replaced windows before, I was amazed they completed the job in one day. Windows are great and will be energy efficient for years to come. Chris, our point of contact from the beginning was very professional and knowledgeable . Good experience all in all.

This was a very good experience for me. I found them to be extremely professional and knowledgeable about the products. Everyone that came to my house was punctual and very friendly. Through taking the measurements and discussing the options available, to the actual delivery and installation of the doors, everything was handled expertly. They cleaned up everything after they completed the work, and the entire job was done in a very professional manner. I would not hesitate to use them again, and I would certainly recommend them to others.

Great service and professionalism from the sale to the install. The windows are a big improvement over our current 15 year old windows. Only replaced the windows with issues this time but as the install team said" we will be back" and yes they will be back planning to replace the remaining windows. This is the company to go with. Completed three estimates and this company won out.

Be prepared for a very long pitch. I was able to schedule a weekend appointment for my estimate, which was a nice change from other companies. The salespeople spent first 30 minutes of the appointment showing me copies of awards and accolades, and various videos about the company (not the windows) on their iPad. I had only planned on the appointment taking an hour and when I mentioned that to the salespeople, they seemed shocked because the schedulers didn't mention that I had a hard stop (I've never had an estimate for home improvements take longer than an hour). The second half hour was spent conducting measurements and taking pictures of my current windows, which seemed a bit odd. After a few disparaging remarks about another large window company in the area and a non-competitive quote, I decided to chose a different company.

the representative came by when scheduled and spend plenty of time answering my questions and going over the various options andersen provides. i was very happy with my dealing with this company. ultimately i went with a company i had used before that gave me a 'customer loyalty' discount which made the difference.

The salesman was very easy to work with. We had visited with another company's sales rep and were about to sign on, but we weren't totally satisfied with the choices. So we called the company that had installed windows in my brother's home a couple of years before. They were very responsive, had a good product at a fair price, and I already knew that my brother was very happy with the work done on his home. They showed up when they said they would, did the work efficiently and well at the agreed upon price. Can't ask for anything more. The only small disappointment is that they fellow they suggested we use to stain a couple of the interior frames to match other interior wood never returned our calls, so we still have not gotten that last part of the job done. But that is a very small thing than can be remedied easily.

I got three additional estimates and Anderson was one of the lowest. With a special sale price I had seen advertised before they arrived, their quote came in as the lowest. Sales personnel arrived on the designated time and showed me all the options available and an example of the window. After signing the contract, a technician arrived, on time, to measure the actual size of the opening so the new window could be made to fit the opening. The old window was a standard size (smaller than the window opening) and had filler installed on the sides, top and bottom to fit in the opening. The new wondows fill the full opening so they are 2-3" larger on all sides which is nice for a sun room. Renewal by Andersen was punctual and always arrived when they said they would and the installation was 1 week earlier than originally estimated. The installation was during the winter and was quick and efficient . . . . . good work by Renewal by Andersen.

The services went very well overall. One of the windows was cracked upon delivery, but they replaced that window in a timely manner. We’re very pleased with the windows!

The service went very well! In general, we were very satisfied. The first time, we had to change our date, and there were a few things that we didn’t like about the installation. We did let them know, and they fixed those issues. The next time, they did a good job. The product itself is fine. The window sections on a lot of the others that we saw were a lot smaller, but with Anderson, we got the window exactly how we wanted it to be.

They were very good! The technician was informative and I was very pleased.
