Mr. Appliance, Fairfax, VA; 703-272-4100 & 703 291-8329 In my opinion one needs to be wary if they choose to use Mr. Appliance, Fairfax, VA for appliance repair work. I found Mr. Appliance staff unreliable and inefficient in completing my work. I also noted a lack of professionalism and respect for me, the customer, from the company Manager, Greg. In mid-May 2021 I called Mr. Appliance to request service for a non-working ice maker in my refrigerator. On May 28, Josh, a Mr. Appliance Technician, came to my home and recommended I replace the ice maker as well as the water value and filter head. I agreed. Josh returned on June 11 and replaced those parts. In so doing, he broke the Styrofoam block that surrounds the filter head tubes where they enter the refrigerator. He only replaced about half the foam block when he reinstalled the filter head. He did not mention this to me, and I only noticed it when that faulty filter head was replaced in August (below). Later in June, I noticed that the newly installed filter head was leaking around the filter and into the refrigerator. I monitored it for a while to see if it continued. It did. I then called the Mr. Appliance office to request a service call to check the leaking filter head since Mr. Appliance guarantees their work for one year. On July 29 Josh returned to my home and verified that the filter head was leaking. Josh then scheduled a return visit on August 9 to replace the filter head which had to be ordered. On or about August 5 I called Mr. Appliance since I had not received a confirmation for the August 9 appointment set by Josh on July 29. I was told the part had not arrived. My appointment to replace the filter head was rescheduled for August 10 between 2-4PM. When no one showed up during that time frame, I called the Mr. Appliance office and was told the filter head had not arrived. This was despite the fact I was told earlier by a Mr. Appliance staff member that the part had arrived and that the 2-4PM August 10 service call was a go. The appointment was then rescheduled for August 11 between 3-5PM. Just before 5PM on August 11 I called the Mr. Appliance office and spoke to Latoya (sp) to check on the status of my appointment. She told me Josh, the Technician, was running late and that she would have him call me and give me an ETA. I told her I was unhappy about the situation and with Josh. Josh called me back about 20 minutes later and said he would be at my home in 1-2 hours as he had to go to the office to pick up the part. I was not happy about the late ETA, but I accepted it. By 8PM August 11 Josh had not arrived and had not called or messaged me about any further delays. I called Mr. Appliance and spoke to their answering service person. The person I spoke to said she had no information about the delay but said that she would leave a message for Mr. Appliance and that someone would call me back. The next morning, August 12, I called the Mr. Appliance office since no one had called me. The person who answered the phone did not know why Josh was a no-show last evening and told me she would have the manager, Greg, call me. I waited about 30 minutes and since I had not received a return call from Greg, I called him. Greg told me the reason Josh did not come to my home last evening, August 11, was because I told Latoya then I did not want Josh to come at all last night. I told Greg that was not true. Greg did not believe me though he didn’t say so directly. It was clear to me that Greg only believed what Latoya told him – i.e. that I told her I did not want Josh to come to my home last evening. That just was not true. I did tell Latoya I was not happy with Josh and not happy about the continuing delays and inconveniences. I also expressed this to Greg. I asked Greg if he talked to Josh about the situation and he basically said “no” because Latoya told him I didn’t want Josh to come to my home at all last evening August 11. I insisted again I did not tell Latoya that. I asked Greg that if I told Latoya I didn’t want Josh to come at all, why would she ask Josh to call me back? Josh did so at around 5:20PM and told me he would be at my home in 1-2 hours. (I talked to Latoya at about 5:00PM.) Greg again said words to the effect that Latoya told him I didn’t want Josh to come at all and that was the end of it as far as he was concerned. That just was not the case. Greg again implied he did not need to talk to Josh about this situation since he believed Latoya and not what I was telling him. Greg hung up on me. Shortly thereafter, we spoke again, and after a few false starts, Greg said someone would come to my home in the afternoon of August 12 to replace the faulty filter head. I told him I did not want Josh to return. I consider Josh unreliable. The filter head was replaced by another Technician later that day, August. The Technician decided not to use the damaged Styrofoam block which Josh broke in June. Instead, he put pads over the opening on the inside of the refrigerator where the filter head tubes enter the unit to decrease the air flow there which the Styrofoam block was meant to do. I consider Mr. Appliance unreliable and unprofessional in dealing with me when there are issues. Greg, the manager, chose to argue with me, the customer, about the problems they caused (e.g. delays, false starts, inconveniences, runarounds). Greg showed a lack of respect for me and basically refused to listen to or respect what I, the customer, had to say about the problems caused by Mr. Appliance staff. For example, staff erroneously told me the filter head replacement part was available when it was not despite the fact an appointment had been confirmed to replace the part. I only found out the part was not in fact available when I called Mr. Appliance to ask why the Technician, Josh, had not arrived as scheduled. Another staff member to whom I spoke told the Greg, the Manager I did not want a Josh to come to my home for a scheduled and delayed appointment when in fact I never said that. I waited over five hours for Josh to arrive late the evening August 12 without being notified of a cancellation. Do be wary and do your due diligence if you choose to use Mr. Appliance for repair work. In dealing with me, Mr. Appliance staff including the Mr. Appliance Manager, Greg, displayed unprofessional behavior, inefficiency, and poor customer relations.
